Assuming Crows get pick 2 for Crouch.

Would we ask this question.
Pick 6, Francis & Fantasia
Pick 2 & 20

Pick up Hollands with pick 2.
Is it still a reasonable assumption that Crouch will attract band 1 compo? Otherwise, the crows might go for this. Apparently the crows are into Tilthorpe (perhaps this is assumption rather than fact because he’s from SA?). Thilthorpe has reportedly struggled with groin issues this season and may slide to 6.

ferrisb on the draft board has been collating information from a bunch of mock drafts and power rankings. These are the top 50 players across all of the ones he’s used, and their range:

I don't know how I feel about that. If we get pick 7 as compo, then I'd prefer to split that and offer 6 and one of the firsts for pick 2. Add Fantasia for a 3rd coming back our way.

Joe’s base salary would have to be in the top 5% of players over 25 to get band 1. That’s the top 15. That means a probable base salary of over 700k (or whatever the equivalent is with the salary cap changing) which is the top edge of band 2.

So I wouldn’t assume that he is going to get us band 1 lol. We’re more likely to have the first pick on day 2 of the draft (which is valuable in its own right), plus a late first from Saad (one of Geelong or Brisbane’s picks) with probably late pick swaps, and our pick 6.

So 6, ~15 and 20.

6, 7, 8 is an absolute fantasy scenario.

Interesting the range on these guys, the first five guys are the only consensus top-10 selections, everyone else looks like they could go anywhere from mid first round to early second round.

I'd think Adelaide take McDonald as outright first selection, no one seems to want to bid on an Academy player at 1, but JUH seems like the most likely time for it to happen given in an open draft he'd be the consensus first selection.

Lack of exposed U18 form for the VIC players will make it pretty interesting.

Does the length of contract affect compensation?
We offered 4 years so i doubt he signs for less elsewhere.

Phillips/Thilthorpe at 6
O'Driscoll at 15
Poulter/Cook at 20
With Brand and Eyre coming later thats a good haul.

A silver lining to having so many massive gaps in our list - if the best player available is forecast to be more of a tall wingman/half forward...cool, all good. We need that too haha.

Yeh, not sure re Crouch and whether he will attract band 1 or not. I'm only assuming he would based on the proposed $$ and lengthy contract getting speculated. If we could somehow manage to trade up to that pick and land Hollands, who could very well be a generational type mid, I would be absolutely stoked with that.

Not really. There’s a more complete explanation here:

Can scroll up a bit from that post for more about the bands and some examples.

But it’s mostly based on average base salary over the length of the contract. There are other bits but they’re ranked and a certain percentage forms each band.

Someone with a dodgy groin to replace Daniher i like the synergy

Yes years and pay of new contract. Who would be paid more money than JoeD at Brisbane? I'd assume he's moving for 600k+ (reduced cap)

Neale
Zorko
H.Andrews maybe (under 25 but don't believe that matters)

Yep let's fix the size issue in our midfield by drafting another midget.

Thankfull he'll likely be gone before our first pick.
i don't mind the idea of Phillips IF we fix the balance in size (i.e 1 or 2 through trade & look to draft another 1 or 2)

Really want to see us build some midfield depth this off-season.

Essendon are a target short with Jackson Hately requesting a trade to Adelaide.
Was always going to happen rumour was Port Adelaide if they lost Wines but now looks likely to Adelaide to replace Crouch

A target short because a guy that was always going to go home requests to go home?

If they all are available at our pick I think Thilthorpe suits our needs best.

DGB is a very safe pick because if he doesn't make it as a KPP he will probably make it as a 3rd tall.

However, if you are looking for someone who is most likely going to be able to play as the primary KPP Thilthorpe is the better choice. DGB may never put the weight on to be a powerful KPP.

Yep, no thanks - no way do we want to go down the groin problems rabbit hole again

If we end up with 6,7,8 (big if), trade 6 to geelong for 2 of their 1sts - they’ll probably want to grab Bruhn.

At this stage I’d go
7 - Phillips
8 - Cox/Reid
Geelong 1 - Perkins/Carroll
Geelong 2 - Trew/O’driscoll

Would you make a bid for Reef McInnes?
