Arlo Draper looks a very exciting prospect for 2021, if we cant grab Horne, he and sonsie look great. What are your thoughts on who we should target in 2021 considering our likely position next year eDPS

It will depend on what we grab this year. The likes of Horne, Sonsie, Sinn, Rachele and Hobbs would all bring something different.

Pretty enamoured with Phillips after watching tape and listening to him speak, especially given how much native unrest there’s been of late.

Socks down, no nonsense footy nuffie who lives, breathes, eats and shits it and plays with a hard edge.

Not sure he’ll be there but I think he’s so good you just take him and make other moves to change the balance of the midfield.

I always enjoy this line being tottered out.
How do we do just this?

By taking the big bodied midfielder the next year.

Then the next year some on here get enamoured with the undersized midfielder again and say the same thing. It's a never ending cycle.

The more you think about it (same as this mini rebuild thing going on), when our hand is forced perhaps it can only be a good thing for the club

And then roast Dodoro for:

a) an unbalanced list
b) taking a spud when a generational talent was in the frame at that pick

I can see it now, we trade in Caldwell and draft Phillips and then we get hammered on the inside by having absolutely no size next year and there'll be some saying "Oh we should draft player x this year, 180/75 inside mid, but really aggressive".

You actually make a concerted effort, something I cannot recall us doing. How do you do it? What the hell kind of defeatist crap is that? You do things.

Say he’s the higher of multiple first round picks, the lower one in a perfect world is like O’Driscoll or Trew or Poulter, a bigger body, a different athletic profile and a different look.

Entirely possible that there’s another relatively high selection in the offing, again some size, no need to even consider talls, we’ve got them, go out and find a ball pig, maybe trade it for O’Halloran.

Picks through the back end of the draft and into the rookie draft, same deal, I don’t really care about skills, go out and find those contested ball specialists that excel at that but not a lot else. A Jack Graham, a Bytel, a Worpel type player.

Be constructive, throw resources at the problem and profit.

Any U16 key forwards look really, REALLY promising? I know it is a long way out but would we be looking that far ahead?
Wish I could help but I really have not seen enough of under 16 in the last couple of years. Now days I generally get a bit of vision of under stuf and see the odd game although this year has ****ed that as well.

Im not talking about what we are brining in. Everybody is brining in players to try and improve there best 22. What do you do with our starting 3 mids? Shiel ain't going no where. Merrett has been good since moving to the wing so that is a possibility. McGrath is earmarked as our Marc Murphy so can't see him moving. We have one spot available and it needs to be a point of difference to two guys who are very similar already.

To say we have one spot available is a pretty narrow perspective. You mentioned 3 there, I count 13 genuine midfield rotations in the side that Collingwood took to Perth, all different shapes, sizes and skill sets.

Guelfi and Ham were in at centre bounces for us this year, we’re in no position to turn down 10 year blue chippers and just having 4 midfielders and expecting they’ll get the job done does not cut it anymore.

Suspect there’s room and need in the side for 2 or 3 bigger, taller bodied midfield rotations provided they can cover turf, you may as well grab the best mid in the pool and lock him away for mine.

Absolutely. Best case scenario for mine is getting two picks back to back under ten and two in teens. Ideally we walk away with Phillips, O’Driscoll and Trew. Clear the softness away in one fell swoop.

The "Nexrt 15" as they were according to Callum Twomey. O'Driscoll is in there, as is Cody Brand. No Josh Eyre is promising for us

It was a bit narrow minded on my behalf. We need more capable guys going through the middle. We simply rely on to few. The more you look at Darcy Parish for example he is kinda the anti Essendon sort of player where he can only play midfield good enough and no where else. A LOT of our guys are ample enough in other roles but not good enough as midfielders but we need that step up from c grade rotational mids to at least B's.

The sooner we can strip the list back and get rid of the dead wood the better. I am looking at Devon Smith, Brayden Ham, Tom Cutler, Matt Guelfi, Martin Gleeson, Dyl Clarke, Jacob Townsend.

Would any of these guys play in there preferred role at a top 8 club? I seriously doubt that. Obviously not all mids but you strip back these guys and fit in players that could actually rotate and have an influence as mids and we would be in a much better position.

Would rather take Berry with a later pick then Phillips with an earlier one kids a gun

I am surprised that Jack Ginnivan wasn't mentioned. Showed a bit in the NAB league as a 16-year-old.

he shouldnt be there next year to roast anyway

calder have quite a few talls including Luca alessio.
westerns best tall injured his knee while eastern and Murray no one outstanding.
northern apparently have a couple of good talls but I haven’t seen them.
