Any chance Hollands falls to 6?
I know chances are very slim that he will, but would be awsome if he did.
We would need either Adelaide or Norf to bid on Brayden Campbell to be a chance I'm guessing, which most likely won't happen.

1. R Thilthorpe (Adel)
2. J Ugle-Hagen (WB) NM bid
3. L McDonald (NM)
4. B Campbell (Syd)
5. D Grainger-Barrass (Haw)
6. Will Phillips (GC)
7. E Hollands (Ess)
8. A Perkins (Ess)
9. Z Reid (Ess)
10. Lachie Jones (PA) Adelaide bid

Would be amazing if it fell this way 😉

No way Hollands falls to us.

My hope is Phillips will.

Why would Sydney draft their own academy player at their pick? They'll pick McDonald or Hollands at that pick if they're there, otherwise it'll be DGB or Thilthorpe if they're not.

Yes, let's continue building an unbalanced midfield. Thankfully Gold Coast will probably take him
Our only hope is for both to be available at GC pick because It’s almost guaranteed they will take one of them.
Hollands won't slip out of the top 3.
It would be handy if North bid on Cambell. Sydney have been getting too many free hits.
They won't.

Ham is useless mate. Why can’t people admit to this?

Only on bigfooty is it better to be young than good

one of the great mysteries This ham bloke. A totally half arsed, fumbly, dumb footballer. Would be an ordinary local footballer. A travesty that he’s on an afl list but fits our soft, half arsed, entitled brand perfectly.

You just described Martin Gleeson mate
ham is an elite runner with a nice left foot
gleeson unrestricted free agent. 8 years in the system.
ham in the system two years and can run.

we have lost a lot of pace in defence. But when you think that Saad was a rookie draft, McKenna a Cat B (? cant recall exactly) & Fantasia pick 55 - adding pace late is probably not hard.

DFA, ND & PSD + supplementary period (if that goes ahead) will be interesting.
It's also worth not mistaking agility for pace. McKenna and Saad had both + delivery by foot. Rare combo and we had that in two players.
Hind is quick and agile. Disposal not as good.
Redman can be quick when he winds up, not as agile but can be excellent by foot.
Guelfi can be quick, not as agile and ordinary by foot.

We'll have to trade or draft an excellent rebounding hb at some point if those three don't find improvements in their deficiencies.

Guelfi isn't quick though

He's also one to get rid of.
Likewise Gleeson, Laverde, Cutler and Townsend.

Even Francis can join Guelfi on the outer.

Cutler and Guelfi are contracted apparently

We don't need Phillips since Caldwell arrived.

If there's anyway we can get to #2 and take Hollands, that would be perfect.

Otherwise : Reid, Poulter/Perkins and MacRae/O'Driscoll.

At 44, if we don't need to use it on the NGA boys, maybe Callow somehow slips.
I also like Sam Berry if he happens to be there.

When I think about fringe players, I consider whether they have any value above a state-league level replacement.

If we replaced Gleeson with a state league half back, would it hurt us?

You could easily replace Gleeson with Duval, Park or Wehr. I don't think we would regret that move.

You could try to replace Ham with Sampson, Szekely or McNeil. However, I don't think there is a clear upgrade in that group.

Pay Gleeson out to leave?

He reached a trigger clause for 1 year with us if he wants it, or he is an Unrestricted FA if he can find a better deal

Considering how replaceable he is, we should consider paying him out. I doubt we would do it.

This thread on the main board is depressing. We have never nailed three consecutive picks.

We've got a fantastic hand going into the draft, will never have a better opportunity to knock it out of the park and set up the long term future of the club.

You inspired to look through our draft history.

A few times where the first two looked great only for the third to be an absolute dud.

Well we've never had anything approaching the 3 top 10 picks in a row that we've got now.

I know people harp on about Parish and Francis but that was quite the hit and miss draft in general. It was laden with traps all the way through even in the top picks. Plus Parish is a good player and Francis is OK with some potential for more.

Why are Sydney taking Campbell with their pick? 🤔

Thank God there isn't anything fishy about this year's draft.
