I can not say he is a generational player as I have not seen him play live. I like to see them play 5 or 6 games live so I can look at the full field and see the events that you can not see from watching footage. You do actually miss a lot. If I am going to make a definite decision I like to see them live , go back and watch games again and also discuss with a few I know who have also been watching. I also read most draft previews. They can throw up stuff you may want to have a second look at.

Reason for not trading up. I am not convinced Adelaide will not pick him so you would want to be into Hollands as well.
I problem would deal two of the picks for pick 1.
I do trust the WA scouts I know. They really like him.
If they trade up it’ll like be on draft night after Adelaide pick.

Some Bits from Cal Today

Collingwood keen to bundle 14 16 and future 1st
I’d be inclined to see if the pies would swap those for pick 7.

We’d still have the first shot at whichever our favourite of the available players with pick 6, but we’d end up with the two picks later in the first round where there might be some sliders to pick off - O’Driscoll, McInnes etc.

We’d also score an extra pick next year which is potentially going to be an interesting year with so many late bloomers this year not getting their chance to show their stuff, and if Merrett is traded we could end up with 4 picks in the first round for two consecutive years. Geelong and Hawthorne kicked off their dynasties with a couple of ridiculous draft hauls, maybe this becomes our opportunity.

Hooker is close to the end and OOC
Hurley and Ambrose are both 30 and the injuries are stacking up for Ambrose
Bryan, Jones and McBride are all unproven and really raw
Stewart amd Wright are handy role players, but by no means building blocks
Brand and Eyre havent even been drafted yet.

If Reid and Cox are 2 pf the best 3 players available at our picks, you take both.
Cox and Reid are unproven too. With Brand and Eyre we will have a large number of darts to throw at the board of possibly successful KPPs. We need more darts to be thrown at the midfield board as that is second rate too.

As it is, if we selected both Reid and Cox we would probably struggle fitting all our KPPs in the VFL team.

Perkins seems to be a buzz player at the moment. Feels like someone that will bolt into that top 5.

Options, options, options.

I think Hawthorn hold the key

From the rumours doing the rounds if they go Phillips GC want to trade out of the first round
If they go Perkins we get Hollands

im gonna guess they'd want more than 7 for 3x 1st rd picks.
Would think they're wanting 2 of ours.

just looking at the picks, they Pies have nothing to match McInnes with after 16.
about 120 odd points

kid might be gettable.

i wouldnt be so sure they even stay with pick 4 - couple of suggestions they might trade with GWS and end up with three teen picks

next question, who would gws want at 4?

Hollands if he's there
Thilthorpe possibly given Jez has left.
DGB unlikely to last as it looks like Sydney will take him.

Probably Thilthorpe if he's available. Surely they can't keep going down the stockpiling mids model

So a bid of
Lachie Jones as a **** you to port at 6 then Cox
Jones couldn't have done any more in 2020. In a season that was such a waste for so many draftees who had their campaigns dashed by the pandemic, Jones took his chance for a full campaign with Woodville-West Torrens' senior side with both hands. The hard and tough defender played in the SANFL premiership with the Eagles and was excellent with his booming kick, clean hands and smart defensive traits. Jones will join Port Adelaide as a Next Generation Academy player and an early bid is expected.
McInnes at 8 then take Reid
McInnes shot the lights out at the Vic Metro Combine in the speed test, running 2.78 seconds in a blistering sprint. It won't count in the Combine history books given it was with a tailwind outdoors, but it was the best of a strong bunch of times to show McInnes' pace for a taller midfield option. The Collingwood Next Generation Academy prospect was at the back for the 2km time trial, though, so will need to balance that out but McInnes showed last year he can play as a forward, defender or midfielder when he was a part of Oakleigh's under-18 premiership.
Campbell might be too short at 7 then take Perkins
The Swans are preparing for an early bid for Campbell and were searching to find more deals throughout the Trade Period to pick up some extra points to be ready to match it. Campbell has a couple of weapons that lift him above the pack: he has a striking left-foot kick that penetrates and is especially damaging around goal, and he has brilliant pace, having run 2.9 seconds over the 20m sprint at the NSW Combine.

Essendon are in the box seat to help Collingwood achieve what they are trying to do this draft. They want 2 players before matching a McInnes bid. They want a tall, maybe 2. Essendon pick 8 for Collingwood 16 and future 1st. Collingwood use 8 and 14 and then match a McInnes bid.

On the flipside without even trying or doing anything out of spite, we could ruin Collingwoods plans. Take 1 or 2 of the talls they have their eye on at 6 and 7, then bid on McInnes at 8 which we would be a genuine bid (we need a big inside mid). Collingwood are then stuck with using 14 to match the bid. Then it gets to their first live pick at 16 and all the talls are gone.

Should never ever help Collingwood let the burn

I would prefer option two Cox Reed McInnes then Perkins

Taking their future first will hurt them more than anything. Will be top 6. A fair chance to be ahead of any Daicos bid.

If we really want their 2021 1st we throw in either 44 this year or one of our future 3rds on top to make it happen. I think it would be a reach at any of picks to bid on McInnes.
