I really hope we pick tall in the draft.

Our midfield looks so much better when they have targets to kick to. I am not that concerned about it right now.

Our greatest risk is that when McGrath, Parish, Draper and Langford reach their primes we will have sub-par targets ahead of the ball if Daniher leaves and Hooker retires.

We should be throwing everything we have at trying to have a shot at McDonald or Thrilthorpe.

Jones and Bryan too short for you ?

My perception is Bryan is an option for filling the hole down back. Considering that BZT could be our tallest defender going forward.

I have high hopes with Jones but I don't want us to bank too much on him becoming our primary tall forward. If we can secure a star tall, Jones has all the attributes to develop into a very good 2nd or 3rd option.

Bryan is a ruck / forward first. They can find another tall defender to go with Brand who will come in this years draft. We really need Bryan to develop in the ruck / forward role so we have a decent second ruck who can also be a decent forward. Jones has as much chance as anyone in this draft of being a good forward.

I am just saying Jones is a decent prospect.

I think, especially given that Brand and Eyre have been invited to the combine as part of our NGA, we should be looking at mids. If we go tall with our first pick of this draft that'll be 7/14 picks that we've gone tall with, as well as Crauford in the SSP last year

Don’t undestimate Crauford himself as an option as well. Looks as athletic as any of the tall kids in this draft and we’re barely scratching the surface on him.

Prioritise midfielders IMO

Since the end of 2017 we have turned over 22 spots on the list. 8 of whom are key position players. We have two academy talls this draft period. Taking a midfielder with our first pick is pretty much a non-negotiable for me at this point.

I really don't care about list numbers in any position. I still have far more faith going forward in McGrath, Merrett, Shiel, Parish, Langford etc. than I do in Francis, Jones, Bryan, BZT, Crauford, Gown, Brand and Eyre.

I also think that this draft is unique with multiple talls who have shown a lot at league level giving them a relatively high floor going forward.

I would argue it is not really possible to say anything that is certain given the only exposed form this year is based in only the SANFL or WAFL alone.

Surely the final year before the draft gives more information than the underage year. You can pick a player with more certainty of what his AFL output might be like if you have a lot of final year form to go on.

Unfortunately, many VIC prospects are riskier than they would be if we had exposed form this year.

Unfortunately, many VIC prospects are riskier than they would be if we had exposed form this year.

Not as much as you would think. Sure there are players who bolt from nowhere and others who slide but in my experience over 11 years of following TAC closely I would say 70% of the players run true to form. The risk in the exposed form this year is with no championship form you are only getting these players playing in their own states so unless they get a lot of senior exposure their form will also be hard to line up. I have been out of the loop this year so I have no form to look at but I would be reasonably confident on the stuff I saw last year.

Well Ugle-Hagan but he has a fair bit of exposed form but if you are going down that path then anything can happen. Patton , Schache , McCarten , Boyd. All extremely highly rated top 5 picks. Various reasons why they did not work out.

All of which could happen to Jones too, of course.

In any case I'm on your side here. If anyone wants a better young tall forward than what's already on the list they won't get a more reliable prospect with the picks currently held.

That's not to say they aren't in the draft eDPS - just that the form isn't there to comfortably make the call.

Berry is a star, there isn't a player in the league that I'd rather have in our side than him. O'Driscoll is really the best fit for us in this draft IMO

If Brissy are keen to move up the draft order they may be willing to trade up their two first rounders (theirs and ports). O’Driscoll rated around 19th in phantom draft, also have Trew and Nick Cox KPF at the back end.

Think Heppell but quicker and slightly better disposal. He isn’t a known goalkicker but he does work well inside 50 and can hit the scoreboard or set up another in some form.
