Who are the top 10 we’ll be looking at? Midfielder with first pick surely?
The better mids in that range so far are either unproven as mids or are on the smaller side. Might not get the chance to be picky for this years draft.

If we are going mid first it’ll most likely be Will Phillips or Tanner Bruhn. Phillips the safest bet of the draft, gun inside, tackle and clearance machine With decent disposal. Bruhn is more your classy smooth moving type and kicks goals , but in my opinion has bust pontential after hardly playing for 2 years. Everyone will want O’driscoll but I think he’s a reach at 5 or 6 for someone with not great disposal. We could potentially get him later in the first round if we lose daniher or saad.

Here are the first 2 videos I have produced. I went with South Adelaide forwards because it is easier to find good footage of their forwards than any other clubs. I will produce more, it just takes a long time.

Make a resource thread in the draft hub for your content 😊 there’s a guy in there called giant roo who does something similar, I think he even has a patreon these days.

With our pick seemingly in no mans land for our type, who could use the draft points for NGA &/or father sons coming through this year?
Perhaps we can trade our pick 6 for 2 x 2021 firsts?

I was wondering myself what hey do. I suppose it comes down to who leaves in the next few weeks. If everyone stays then we may be reaching to pick the midfielder we need at 6. Maybe 6 and the third round for a later first and second round pick.

Thanks! I will make a thread when I have finished a few more.

Would you go to the draft with pick 6?

We can’t trade out first rounder this year unless we can one back in this years draft.

At the moment we have to until someone leaves that would give us another or we trade back.

Because I have turned into the consumate BigFooty recruiter, reading up on O'Driscoll, the thing that excites me is his defensive nous and reading of the play.

Couple that with his endurance and long kicking and he seems to good to be true a fit for us.

Dodo won't go for him though

It would be such an Essendon thing to take another undersized inside mid with our first pick.
Atleast he has a bit of muscle on him and cracks in hard, can’t afford to be too picky in this years draft.

That’s the thing though, we don’t need to turn him into an inside mid, he’s a ready man one. Tackles, runs both ways, clearance machine - just because he isn’t 6’2 doesn’t mean he isn’t exactly what we need. Would rather we find a taller mid during trade week than reach on a draft pick.

When our entire inside midfield is short people, Heppell and Clarke? Yeah, we can be.

2015-2019 we have spent our first round picks on Parish, Francis, McGrath, Smith and Shiel. Four undersized inside mids and a 3rd tall defender.

He's 179 cm. I don't give a damn how good he is you don't fix a completely unbalanced midfield by picking a player that makes it more unbalanced.

Our midfield is unbalanced because they don’t work as a collective at stoppages or running defensively as a unit. Phillips would definitely help that. Putting a taller guy in the mix doesn’t necessarily mean it’ll make the midfield work better. Phillips will be a wrecking ball in 1-2 years, he ain’t like parish or McGrath who have taken 3-4 years to put on size. He’ll be a 87-88kg 179cm mid at minimum. You don’t think a lachie neale (short mid but stocky) would help our midfield balance?

You're kidding right? How many sub 6 foot mids get to be 88 kilo's?

Our midfield is a shambles, let's not pick literally the only bloke in the top 15 of this year's draft class that makes it even more unbalanced.

Matt Rendell just compared Phillips favourably to Matt Rowell on Open Mike - that’s pretty much how good and how physical he’d need to be for me to be interested in drafting him at 179 cm.

4min mark is a good example of his physicality
