The two other guys that intrigue me are Dumsney and Caleb Poulter, any word on those guys?
Dumesny is a bit like Witherden down back, great skills although his last game he was a bit shaky by foot by his standards, he has good composure and versatility aswell although he has been an early maturer.

Poulter could be anything and has some of the biggest upside in the draft, he is a bit like Langford really and it’s the contested game I’d like to see him really improve but he has great skill and a great size and I’d say he could be a dangerous HF/Wing

I know there's been a lot of anticipation about Eyre and Brand, but it's sounding like they're actually not that highly rated. I'm trying to understand why we would focus on them as our keyposts when others could be available to us first. It wouldn't surprise me if Dodoro goes after talls.

A pair of Victorian players who haven't played all year not highly rated... not surprised. Academy players can be hidden from view a bit as well, though idk if that is what is going on here.

The fact that we're assumed likely to pick them up at all is something in itself, plenty of kids come through and don't get drafted, even as a rookie with a famous surname.

If we were to get 3 firsts (either 6,7 and 15 or 6, 15 and 18), what players would you like us to pick?
This year's draft doesn't seem to be highly rated. Is it the depth of the draft that isn't rated or is the top end (outside of NGA/academy) also not that great either?

From what I understand, Brand has always been rated. He is more a lock down, old school full back. Would have been first picked key defender for Vic Metro.

Eyre is the funny one, from what I have heard, his athletic profile is sensational. A reported 197cm, he is more a CHF but has played at both ends. He i the one I expect we may be able to sign as a Cat B rookie after no one bids on him post national draft.

Brand is the one we should expect a bid insiide the top 50 on. Ask eth-dog what that means for our draft points but yeah. Best I can do info wise

Why doesn’t Archie Perkins get more of a mention as somebody we could target? From what I’ve read he seems to fit what we need & wouldn’t be a reach at our pick.

Anybody able to provide a bit more information on his upside/downsides?

The lack of footy in Victoria has certainly effected the outlook although I still think it’s a bit weaker in the top 20 compared to most years but I’d say it’s fairly even from then onwards until about the 50 mark and then falls of a cliff.

Hmm with those picks down I’d perhaps look at something like this

6/7 - O’Driscoll, Phillips, Bruhn, Campbell/McInnes bid

15 - Reid/Cox/Chapman/Baldwin

18 - Perkins/Carroll/Poulter/Trew/Ford/Maher

If one of DGB or Thilthorpe become available it’s likely we pick one of them with 6 then I’d just take a mix of who is available at 18 or any sliders with 15.

Thanks!
Yeah the lack of footy seems to have impacted this draft. There'll always be surprises so I'm hoping we can catch a few sliders.

From what I can tell, mostly from eDPS, is that he'll be bid on around the 30 mark. If it is pick 30 it takes 432 points off, which means we'd need an Eyre bid after 43 to avoid a deficit.

What? No Ugle-Hagan. He would be perfect for us.
I was talking about “live picks” because Ugle-Hagan/Campbell et al will be matched so I didn’t include them.
Just thought it shows there would be some good options available with our first pick.
I think he publishes an updated list this week.

6/7 : I think we will have a choice of O'Driscoll and DGB at our first. Both are needed IMO. Who do you go for? I'd take O'Driscoll but it would be a tough choice knowing Hooker+ Hurley could be gone this trade period or a year or two at most.
O'Driscoll it is for me.

At around 14 : I hope we're looking at McRae. He might not be a "need" but could be a good player.
Also Chapman and Perkins could be interesting.

Academy and father son players you'd expect to go before Brand:

Ugle-Hagan (top 3)
Cambpell (top 10)
McInness (top 10)
Gulden (top 15)
Jones (top 15)
Walker (top 25)

As it stands that takes away 13, 37, 49 (Dogs), 22, 54, 56 (Sydney), 34, 38 (Pies), 26, 29 (Port), 28 (Freo) ahead of our 3rd round pick. That means 42 would move up to 37. But that's only if a bid for McInness comes after the Pies first, but I suspect they'll try to move up the order to get in before one
