how many highly rated NGA and father son kids look like being first round/top ten seections in 2021?

Im just trying to gauge where Carlton are likely to finish and fight the good fight on the main board by wanting there first round pick in next years draft.

In terms of father-son young Daicos and Burgoyne are potential first round prospects. There isn’t any clear cut top 20 NGA players imo but some players could jump up from non-northern academy clubs.

2021 looks like it might be THE draft for big bodied midfielders. Horne, Draper and Roberts are a ridiculous trio of young forwards/midfielders. That's only South Adelaide I am talking about.

I wouldn't be disappointed if we focused on talls this year and used the 2021 draft to take home a top end mid or 2.

Any relation to our Draper?

In saying this, we seem to have A LOT of kids coming through as father/son and NGA prospects in 2021.

Brayden Tipiloura, Jordan Bourke (NGA), Tex Wanganeen, Alex Hird, Nyawi Moore (NLM's kid for those of you playing at home), Josh Misiti (all father son) available.

From what I understand, the wraps on Wanga are probably the best of this lot. Misiti is growing quickly but slowish like his old man. Have heard Tipiloura a LONG way off it. Unsure on Bourke.

Id have Nyawi Moore as the better prospect but not by much over Tex. In a strong draft i highly doubt any of them get bids in the top 50 next year.

While your here eDPS, would you consider trading down one of 6 &/or 7 for two picks in the teens? Seems a few decent kids we should be looking at could be available in the teens according to the October fantasy form guide by Cal Twomey.

Trew sounds like someone we should be right into and Cal has him at 25. O Driscoll not even there o_O

Yeah I’d consider it for sure, the more picks we have to get it right in the first round the better.

there is a lot of players I have in the mid 20s I wouldn’t mind taking in the early teens. It’s an even crop and it will be unlikely that I’ll be unhappy with any player picked from mine or Cals top 25.

OUT; Adam Saad
IN; Carlton's 2021 first round selection
If 7 can’t be done I’d be more than happy with this outcome. Having multiple firsts for next years draft could really improve our list quickly.

I need to do the maths on what happens with this draft if the 1st round NGA players receive bids where they are expected.

Picks that are originally in the 30s could move up quite a bit.

Same. Blues will not be top 4 IMO so the pick may go back 3 or 4 spots but it is still first round.

Is it a bad thing that I am sort of happy we may have some picks inside the top 40 to work with over the next couple of years ?

True. The early pick may slide back a few spots but those 4th round picks we have could move forward a bit as well.

Won't next year's draft be potentially even more speculative? At least this year's VIC crop had a full season in 2019 to show their worth as under 17s.

Next year's VIC crop won't have played this year and aren't even guaranteed to play next year either.

You do not think they will find a way to play some sort of under age comp even if it does involve some sort of bubble somewhere if sport is not allowed in Victoria ?

Next years Victorian crop is very strong, Vic Metro dominated the championships which included a lot of extremely talented players from SA which was arguably stronger than most years SA have had especially with the likes of Horne and Roberts through the middle.

I’ve been waiting for something like this for ages, I only started going to junior games in 2016 and we haven’t had a top 25 pick since then. I’m really excited about the next few drafts aswell especially the top end talent.

It’s tosses up the question if we have 2-3 early picks this year, what should we be grabbing in a draft that is not midfielder strong. Next year 80% of the top prospects of the top end prospects are midfielders, and elite mids at that. If we grab a couple of mids this year and we finish bottom 6 next year, all the top rated kids will be mids. It may be smarter to fill other needs this year first.

It will be an interesting discussion and its hard to say how next years talls will develop aswell. Van Rooyen had a very good end to this year and we haven’t seen any of the vic talls develop this year. I would hope we also look at picking who we think will be an elite talent. Hell I wouldn’t scoff at Oliver Henry despite not fitting the mid or KPP category. I think he can become an elite rebound defender in the Sicily mould.
