I just don’t think he’s that good of user but foot when taking ground (attacking offensively). Redman has proven he can do it in ‘19, hopefully he has an injury free preseason.

He maybe has limitations with breaking lines and kicking 50+ but you don't need 4 of those. We have Ridley, Redman who can do that. You still need guys that can change lines and angles down back.

Without McKenna and Saad I feel Gleeson and/or Ham can provide that

With respect to anyone who knows this years talent, I take my hat off to you. However, in a draft with less info on players shouldn't we be chasing talls in order to develop them for a year and play them in 2022 if they make the grade?

You don't delist a 26 year old Gleeson just after losing your 2 half backs

Jordan Clark a player to consider? Would require something big to get the cats to accept deal but they've been known in some cases to help player get where they want. Gun half back
You do if he can not defend. He has been ordinary for a while now. Showed promise early but has not gone on since he got injured.

Well give him a year to get his body right. If we finish bottom 4 and Gleeson is turning 28 the next year then your obviously letting him go unless he's had a career best.

He does have his body right. He is just not that good.
I also have huge reservations about ham ever being big enough to make it.

Absolutely same concerns..he just doesn't have the frame.

He was like our other small blonde haired kid.

For me the only way Ham can make it is to become a back pocket and very small chance wing.

Next year if basically give him 22 rounds in the back pocket get him involved in kick outs see how he goes.

Can he become a Tom Cole, Noah Answerth, Connor Budarick, Ben Paton and turn his career eventually into a Nick Smith. He's not strong enough or explosive enough at the moment.

I'm not saying Gleeson is good his best years were a long time ago. Just think delisting him now with our small defensive stocks leaves gaping holes.

I mean Jasper Pittard is probably as good as him or at worse not far off.

No doubt we need to recruit defenders I'd be finding athletes later on after pick 30 for that spot.

It's scary to think who plays on C.Cameron, Papley, Butler, Castagna,J.Elliott, Walters next year (Guelfi would have to be the man but he looked lost at times on smalls and back, hopefully just a learning curve year with a year down back)

Gleeson isn’t a high half back though. You don’t want the ball in his hands these days
I disagree...Gleeson’s best football was when he was played as the running half back. He backed himself to run and carry with the ball and didn’t mind the contest either, just hasn’t played it as we had Saad and McKenna. He was pushed deep to play the lockdown role which clearly doesn’t suit him

Treloar looks like he’ll be leaving collingwood. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him end up at Gold Coast and the pies get pick 5. If that happens they’ll definitely try to move up to get Mcdonald.

Yeh hmm

Pick 6 and 16 for pick 2. The only thing is does Logan McDonald do enough in the pies window next 2 years? I suppose he's better than Cox

He has been investing a fair bit into his house, here in Melb, of late.

Not to say he won't be moving.

Yeah he’s also a strong family man with a young kid which complicates it - no kid and it’s a lot easier. Can’t see either of them being apart for most of the year, they’ll have to work something out because I don’t think long distance will work.

Don't think he's going anywhere

There season starts a good 5 weeks after the men's

They also have a 6wk spell I think for national committments in the middle (with the Olympics aswell it might even work better)

No doubt he will ask to stay a full week when they go upto play in QLD and also over the bye

With another footy mania I'm sure he will almost get 2 byes

Will Phillips has to be the man if he is available at pick 6, doesn't he? Oozes class, toughness and ball winning ability. I hate to say it but he reminds me of Sam Mitchell. I'd draft him and look at another big mid (Constable etc) to complement our midfield.
I like phillips if we have the hand to add odriscoll and one of trew or carroll as well.
And one or two of o'halloran, caldwell, constable or crouch.
Think he'll be at north, suns or hawks though. Wont last that long

If we add 1 or 2 of those mature guys there’s no point added 3 more midfielders with our early picks.

Cody Brand
Calder Cannons/Vic Metro
23/05/2002 | 195cm | 84kg

Another NGA hopeful, Brand came on strong towards the back end of last year’s NAB League season having regained some confidence during his school football campaign. He is a good size at 195cm and 84kg, able to utilise his strength in one-on-one situations to pose attributes which slightly lean towards the shutdown role among the back six setup. But Brand is relatively adept athletically too, with a decent spring and closing speed allowing him to both impact aerial contests and rebound effectively. He is one of the few talls at Calder this year, and looks like locking down a key defensive post once again having also been trialled up forward

full back option? Zerk is looking less contested and potentially better suited to CHB.
Francis & Ridley as the intercept/spoiler & distributor options.
Redman & ? playing the smaller/medium forwards

we lack pure mid depth. i'd have no issue if we added 4-5 of them.
Parish, McGrath, Merrett and Shiel are the only pure on-ballers we have.

Perkins, O'Driscoll, Trew, Carroll - like all these if we have the picks.

I think we add one, maybe two genuine midfield players whilst the other 2 - 4 ''smalls' we'll likely add should be hff/mid & def/mids.

I actually think we may go another genuine small forward heading into 2021.

#TeamRowe

Watched his final on the weeked. Would firmly be in the sights of most recruiters after that display.

Also, sad times for the VFL. A Fothergill - Round - Mitchell(**** you SAM) medallist will not be making his way into the AFL system the following year

Yeah but Constable O’hallaron etc arent going to come to not play midfield plus the likes of Phillips Trew etc are pure mids. It’d be better to target 1 in the draft with an earlier pick and 1 in trade week than just grabbing a whole lot of them at the same time, which will then lead to a lot of them playing in the seconds. It’s not like the mids we have are old either and are close to being done, we just need more variety in the group.

Snelling & Clarke can play roles. Cahill should get time.
Lonie is out there and still quite young.

On HFF/mids, i like the vision and reading on Perkins.
If we've got enough picks in the first 20 odd, adding Perkins, O'Driscoll & Carroll/Trew would be good.
Then a move up if Callow is still there around the 30 mark.

I really like Carruthers as a half-back/wing.

A very, very clean footballer. His composure and decision making stand out in the u18 games very clearly.
