Would you take DGB if he were available? Knowing we have BZT as a young KPD and that was it basically?
I would trade up and get mcdonald 7 and 8 for 2 and 20
if he was available at 6 and we don’t use it for Dunkley he would be HIGH in consideration with phillips, odriscall and poulter (much more likely at 20)
mcdonald and dgb could be the equivalent of buddy and Roughead in a best case scenario

You can accept that Logan McDonald is going to be very good but still not want us to trade up for him, the two aren’t mutually exclusive.

I think it would be really short sighted of us to throw everything at pick 2 for example to try and get there

I don't mind the idea of trading 7 & 8 for 2 & 20. There is a lot of upside in the 15 to 30 group this year.

You are getting 2 and 20
7 and 8 will get slightly devalued by juh and Campbell bids at very least
i am sick of having my side lacking any semblance of a high functioning forward line

What is different between Logan McDonald and our young forwards already with us (or coming - in the case of Eyre)?
McDonald has proven form against MEN!
josh Eyre has played about 7 games of nab footy
harry Jones has to put on significant weight still

He is worth a shiny pick 2 and

Would rather take 2 kids especially Cox over him
How many times did you watch the knights last year?
cox looked best when he wasn’t a key position player and could play upfield
i Reckon only injuries can stop mcdonald being a very good forward
cox has some real athletic gifts but he is just as likely to be Jarrad grant or dean putt- not being able to handle the physical pressure of being a key position Player at afl level.
that is just my opinion👍

Just because he’s played well in the wafl does not always mean he has the best scope and will be the best forward out of the draft. Some kids that are raw take a bit longer - also Eyre didn’t play at all this season, for all we know he could’ve come out and dominated the nab league and been a Bolter.

How's Fleeton's intercept and rebounding game? Does he have a niche at the top level?

He is a tad undersized but with a full year he could have tracked similarly to Heath Chapman, a better one on one stopper than Chapman just not as strong offensively.

Id try and turn him into a midfielder because he has the height, clean hands and comeptivenss for it

I was talking stylistically
I get that but it is folly to state Eyre, brand, Jones, cox or Reid are in the same ball park as mcdonald
i will use this as an example
i will buy one tbone steak over a packet of sizzling steak at Woolworths
we will likely get Eyre and brand anyway but mcdonald might be in the same conversation of the exciting crop of keys such as the kings, McKay, naughton and lukosious. The bombers do not have anyone in this class.

Absolutely you have a point.
however you can’t devalue a bloke because he has produced at every level he has played especially when he has done it on talent rather than early maturation of his body

I’m not devaluing him at all, I rate Mcdonald highly. Just saying kids who play good senior footy in their draft year doesn’t always correlate to being a star in the afl.

Interesting option. Always open to adding more competitiveness and defensive nous to the midfield mix.

I treat this draft like going furniture shopping for your first home

You can pool all cash and buy the best bed, guaranteed a good night sleep but what about everything else

My approach is get a decent bed of buy swap and sell (Wright), then get a tv cabinet, sofa and a desk

Leaving aside numbers, what do you like so much about MCDonald and what sort of player do you think he’ll be at AFL level?

He’s obviously killing it at WAFL level....what are the tools he’s using to do that?

Not many KPF have done as well in the second tier comps either over the journey. Most of those considered / taken top 5 have only had under 18 form. :thumbsu:

Look at us. Debating what to do with top end draft picks .... At least this draft is looking a bit more meaty than the last time we had two picks in the top 10.

i like his football smarts more than anything.
he has the motor to run up and down the ground and aerobically Punish his opponent. He can win the footy on the lead and he can take a pack mark though I don’t reckon that will be his strength.
he is a good kick of the footy both at goal and also as a field kick. He also makes good decisions with the footy.
i hope he aspires to play like Nick reiwoldt.

Wright is 24 and couldn’t get a game for the suns. What evidence is there that he will make a hats worth of difference. I don’t mind pursuing him for a 5th round selection and take 2 years of his salary. I prefer quality over quantity in furnitureand as I got more mature alcohol and food 😝

Have not seen much of him myself but my WA contact tells a very similar story.
