If we really want their 2021 1st we throw in either 44 this year or one of our future 3rds on top to make it happen. I think it would be a reach at any of picks to bid on McInnes.
Think McInnes is a good option for 1 of our last pick. 192cm inside mid who is elite over 20m. Could be perfect alongside Pidge and Caldwell in a few years.

My concern is the tank as his 2km time trial was ordinary. One of our big issues is players not running hard both ways and don’t think he will help in that regard. I do like his size but just think it’s a big reach. Would much rather Perkins, a tall, and trade back with pies to get 2021 1st.

Cox and Reid are unproven too. With Brand and Eyre we will have a large number of darts to throw at the board of possibly successful KPPs. We need more darts to be thrown at the midfield board as that is second rate too.

The rumoured midfield heavy draft in 2021 should be reason enough for us to try and shift one of those three early selections into a 2021 first rounder.

Hopefully O'drisscol there at 16.

Surely the Crows have asked us if we'd take Thilthorpe at 6 if he was there, if we said no I'd take 9+22/23 for 6.

Crows could get Hollands/McDonald and Thilthorpe. We could get Perkins, Cox, Henry/Bruhn and Ford/Poulter/O'Driscoll
If we said no why would they do the trade? They'll just take him after our picks

With list spots so tight, is there any chance we take Josh Eyre or Cody Brand as a Cat B rookie if they are not bid on in the national draft?

Understand we are retaining Tom Hird and will continue to develop Ross McQuillan both on the Cat B rookie list but would we entertain the idea of Eyre or Brand inststead of Tom or Ross?

Dont catB rookies have to come from a different sport and not have played in a AFL background for a certain amount of years so that would rule that out?

Under the Next Generation Academy rules I believe, if they are over looked in the National Draft, the parent club has a right of passage to place them straight onto the Cat B rookie list.

We only have 2 Cat B list spots open

Think if Thilthorpe slips we have to seriously consider him ourselves. Not sure if a 2nd from the crows is enough for us to leave him on the table.

Essendon are in the box seat to help Collingwood achieve what they are trying to do this draft. They want 2 players before matching a McInnes bid. They want a tall, maybe 2. Essendon pick 8 for Collingwood 16 and future 1st. Collingwood use 8 and 14 and then match a McInnes bid.

On the flipside without even trying or doing anything out of spite, we could ruin Collingwoods plans. Take 1 or 2 of the talls they have their eye on at 6 and 7, then bid on McInnes at 8 which we would be a genuine bid (we need a big inside mid). Collingwood are then stuck with using 14 to match the bid. Then it gets to their first live pick at 16 and all the talls are gone.
They probably get 2 before their pick as it is right now

Its more about getting a top end quality for them i feel and probably a tall like Cox/Reid. We can put them in a very good position for that

I just want to make sure we take the key forward first whether Cox or Thilthorpe also dead keen on Perkins and these dreams always end badly ie Hawks at 4 with Thilthorpe sliding through

As it is, if we selected both Reid and Cox we would probably struggle fitting all our KPPs in the VFL team.
Cox can play on a wing as he develops. He can play round 1
