You dont think Collingwood are playing finals next year? I think theyll be top 8 at worst.

I’m doubtful, losing Treloar, Stephenson and Phillips, they have Howe and Sidebottom post 30 coming back from LTIs. Moore and Elliott got through the whole season but I think less games and shorter quarters helped a lot. They have practically zero depth and a bunch of players entering or in the 30+ danger zone of their careers.

To even tread water they need De Goey to have a full season/stay out of jail and improvement from some kids that haven’t done more than a glimpse or nothing at all.

As I've said in other threads, you don't dump the players they have without something being very off internally. There's something up at the club, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see them in the bottom 6

Fair enough, I think they'll be thereabouts again. Will depend on the form of Grundy, Sidebottom, Howe, Pendlebury, Moore, Adams and DeGoey. Maynard, Crisp, Mihochek, Elliott, Daicos and Quaynor are a pretty decent supporting cast as well. But youre right, anything can happen and i wouldn't be completely shocked if they do miss. Will be interesting to see how they respond.

Is he right or left-footed?? Great skills on both sides

He can play both sides

There was a story from Cal about him tormenting a local side, slotting 5 or so goals 3 on right 2 on the left

agreed
im keen on their 1st for that very reason.
if they come knocking, i'd be open to a deal.

Would there be in appetite to bid on Lachie Jones at 6? I suspect Port match no matter what, but the more I see of the kid the more I think he'd be perfect fit for us. If any chance we can make the price too rich for Port's blood, surely worth a look.

Haha the top three academy kids look all to be perfect fits for us.

Jamara as a KPF
Reef McCinnerss as a big bodied inside mid
Lachie Jones as a rebounding defender

Even with a pick 6 bid the points needed to match is only 1,400. They don't have a heap of points this year but could always trade futures for picks this your or go into negatives next year. Either way it's hard to see a club pass on a kid that is rated top 10-15 for the cost of 2 seconds or 3 later picks.

Maybe we just have Dodo channel the spirit of SOS and pull the trigger on bids for Braeden, Reef and Lachie at 6. With that permanent grin ready for the cameras throughout.

Probably not a great strategy for us given we have 2 later academy picks too

As far as academy bidding goes, only if we rate the bloke as the best player available at that point in time. I think Campbell will be bid on before then (can very easily see Hawthorne or Gold Coast bidding on him) but Jones for me is a maybe. McInness I think adds value if we were to pick him though.

Yeah agreed you don't make a bid just for giggles, you want to genuinely rate the player at that pick. But given we have three picks outside the top 5, and you can largely throw a blanket over the 6th to 20th ranked players this draft, I'd be happy for any of Campbell, Jones or McInnes as being one of those 3 picks, given what each would add to our team in terms of addressing needs. Obviously each bid almost certainly gets matched, but strange things can happen.

something about nik cox reminds me of Dustin Fletcher - dont forget before fletch was pinned to Fb he could run, jump, kick goals, fly for marks and do almost anything..

i see similarities in his athleticism, the way he angles his kicks to find targets and the long arms in defence.

Think hes gone ahead of reid in my mind.

Tilthorpe/Hollands - Cox - Perkins would do me nicely

Not necessarily.
Having consecutive picks 6, 7 and 8 means it does not matter to us what order we take those 3 picks. So if we rate those players as a player we'd be happy to take in one of those 3 picks, then we should absolutely make the bid at 6 and make the club pay top dollar.
We should bid for Campbell at 6, assuming he's still there, then McInnes, then Jones, then take our 3 picks. It makes no sense not to.

But can Cox play in the ruck?

I think the only way Thilthorpe or hollands slip is perkins gets taken top 5.
Would wonder if the Crows stump up 22 & 23 + F1 for 6 at that point.
7 & 23 -> Coll for F1, 14 & 16.

2020 - 8, 14, 16, 22 (Reid, O'Driscoll, Maher, ???)
2021 - EFC, AFC, CFC 1sts + 2x F3.

I don't think we take that extra middle of the draft pick many are starting to predict.

IF we move on one of 6, 7 or 8 we'd have to be looking at a later first and then moving into the 2021 draft for it to be worthwhile.

hard to predict the moves.
I think by pick 4 it will start to take shape. a lot comes down to Pick 1 & what the Hawks do before we then form which strategy to take.

Understand this, I wouldn't want to be trading into the middle parts of the draft just because. If Adelaide did come to us for pick 6 (Riley Thilthorpe happens to slide) then we absolutely ask the question of pick 9 + 2021 picks. I don't think it happens but it's a serious though. Picks 22 - 24 would be useless to us.

yeah. that would work as well.
Though i can see us shifting a pick back with the Pies as part of a deal for their F1.
