Personally I’m really sick of having a sh*t midfield for two decades. Either way it’s going to be hard to win a flag with deficiencies, but I think a great midfield in isolation can get you places great kpp can’t in isolation. Get a great midfield in place and it’s much easier to spot fix KPP holes.
A mate of mine who is a Collingwood supporter (yes I know I shouldn't have such friends) complains about having good midfielders and no decent talls. Swings and roundabouts I guess. Not saying I disagree by the way.

Understandable but I don't know if having Bruhn or someone like that instead of Reid turns our midfield from shit to great.

I'm settled on Cox and Perkins.

The last spot is either a slider (Hollands/Thilthorpe) or a mid like O'Driscoll. With Brand and Eyre coming through, we don't need both Cox and Reid even though I eventually want Cox to play on a wing.

I'm not keen on Bruhn. That injury history is scary. I'm also hoping Phillips is taken before our pick. As good of a player as he is projected to be, our whole midfield is undersized.

This is as near to my sentiment as I've found. I'm not keen on Thilthorpe but won't be surprised if we take him if he slides. Not keen on Bruhn for the same reason, and although he's undersized, I wouldn't be disappointed if we took Phillips. We'll more than likely be near the pointy end of the draft next year and Dunkley may still be a chance.

Cox
Perkins
Hollands/ODriscoll

Also agree with this. I dont want more midget mids and I dont want to risk kids that already have injury histories, and I lean towards Cox over Reid. I won't be unhappy if we do take Reid though. Would be great if Hollands is available but I doubt it.

Still were only De Goey contesting McGovern instead of peeling off away from a flag. Speaks to the power of mids.

I was going to say the same about Phillips. I wouldn't be disappointed as we have another two picks and because he would pretty much be the perfect player for us if he was a couple of centimetres taller. If he slides, then we obviously will take him but I'd rather we don't get that choice so we can work on fixing our midfield balance. He has all the makings of being one of the best in the draft though. Highly competitive.

Yeah I'm not overly enthusiastic about Thilthorpe either mainly because of his OP concerns. Again, we'll take him if he slides.
I'm hoping Hollands slides, but he's the least likely of the 3 to slide which is sad. I genuinely believe he will be the best player of the draft.

Weight of numbers though, if we take 2-3 mids were much more likely to find a game changing star than taking key defenders who produce very few in that realm.

Ade: Mcdonald
WB: JUH
NM: Hollands
Syd: DGB
Haw: Tilthorpe
GC: Phillips
Syd: Campbell
Ess: Perkins
PA: Jones
Ess: Cox
Ess: Henry

Ess: Brand & Eyre

Would be happy with this haul, or happy enough to trade out the Henry pick with Collingwood and take Ford in the teens.

Still think we need that player for that medium x-factor future forward/mid that seem to be essential these days, ford/perkins fill the brief and henry might just be special enough to take as a future marking goal kicker

There is a nagging doubt that in hindsight bruhn might just end up one of the better players of the crop but can we take that inj risk?

I think getting midfielders is more important than getting someone like Henry. We get that type of player all the time and it rarely works out.

You don't think they'll take McDonald?
I don't think they need a key forward as much as they need someone like Hollands

Talls taking long to develop to AFL standard is a overstated IMO. Most good talls perform to a decent standard early. Franklin, Riewoldtx2, Lynch, Kings, Daniher, Lloyd... etc.

There is inherent risk in drafting talls you wouldn’t feel comfortable playing in their first year and it should be avoided. We are in no position to be playing waiting games for two years.

IMO we are exactly in the position to play a waiting game if it means getting the best player. I'd happily wait two years if it meant getting another Lloyd.

What we are not in position to do is go after yet another quick fix.
