Doubt it would have anything to do with his application/ rehab. One of the most intelligent, committed, motivated blokes you’ll meet. He’ll be an afl skipper one day.

Your basically declaring your hand by saying your not interested in Thilthorpe when getting on the blower. So why wouldnt they wait till pick 10 to grab him?

Not really, it's more saying that you prefer one of the other players + an extra pick from Adelaide over Tilthorpe.

If Adelaide say no to the trade then that's fine we take Tilthorpe. It's a mutually beneficial trade if we do it, but probably depends which player was taken in the top 5 instead of Tilthorpe.

Well that’s all well and good for hawks to pass on him, will be hard though since he will be gone before their pick.

eDPS is this consensus top 5 that Cal Twomey is spouting really a thing? I would have thought most recruiters aren’t spilling their guts to a journo with their rankings prior to the draft. And in any case, I would think there’d be quite a bit of variance in rankings due to covid.

I don’t think so, I have a clear 5 but they include JUH and Campbell with McDonald, DGB and Hollands a little bit ahead of the likes of Phillips/Thilthorpe/Bruhn/Perkins ect

That may be true but it doesn't help him slide our pick!

Hypothetically if North bid on Campbell would Swans even consider not matching?

Given North have pick 11 surely it is beneficial for them as well to just put in the bid and have their pick 11 not move back an extra place?

They’d only bid on campbell if they rate him at pick 2. There’s no dummy bids that high in the draft.

Maybe. But if McDonald is gone and they're tossing up between Hollands and Campbell for example I think they have to just put a bid in, Sydney are most likely going to match it anyway and if not then they still get a high quality mid and stop their next pick from sliding back a spot.

It comes down to how highly rated Campbell actually is, but from what I've seen most rankings have him top 5 so that's what I'm basing him and Hollands being similarly rated on, but others have a better grasp on this draft than me.

Yeah if McDonald is there I'd say they take him straight away. But my impression of the draft is that the next few kids are all pretty even. I doubt Sydney would pass up taking him for someone else at 3 though

And yet Crows, who've always held true to their talent order, take Thilthorpe with 1?

Do you think there's a slight case of people wanting us to take Thilthorpe?

I think there will be a few people surprised come Draft night. I think it's a toss-up between McDonald and Hollands
