Hopefully this sort of talk around McInnes will get Collingwood to trade us 14 or 16 and their first next year for 8.

I’d rather just bid on McInnes at 6, it’s the same as us taking him at 8. I’m not sure they match at 6

Ollie Henry? Go and watch his games against Stingrays, Devils, swans and bushrangers last year and then come back.
I just don't see it, he is another undersized forward/defender that could move into the midfield. Like Langford/Laverde 2.0

thats a shame.
I think if we took Phillips & Cox, i'd be looking at Reid too.
One mid, 2x KPD's. Loads us up to sort the backline and midfield out over the next 2 years.

Then focus on the KPF gaps when we see more from Jones, Wright & Eyre.

It wasn’t necessarily what they think will happen, they were told to draft for need in their mock draft.

I rate Phillips but I’d much prefer Perkins as he potentially gives us something we don’t have. I think if Phillips comes then we’ll need to seriously consider trading Parish at the end of next year. That’s assuming they don’t push Merrett or McGrath to the backline/wing.

Phillips is a good player but he's exactly the player that we have an abundance of. If he falls out of the top 5 we probably have to take him but it would be probably be better to see if anyone is willing to trade up for him at that stage.

I'm just really hoping Perkins is the one that we land.

I don't mind him for a bid, even if the Pies don't match.

"preferring to keep his teammates on the move rather than handballing to stationary targets"
this from his afl draft central profile =

Cox + Perkins then any of McInnes, O'Driscoll, Reid or Bruhn would be nice.

If either of the first 2 go earlier, then will get interesting if Phillips or Thilthorpe slip.

trade them 8 for 14 & F1, bid on McInnes at 6 would be funny.
But i imagine they'd be smart enough to trade once pick 8 is live, rather than before we take 6 or 7 :P

I don’t know if he’s exactly what we have, I think he’s turns into more of an extractor like a Ben Cunnington. My main issue with adding him is we’re building a midfield with almost zero aerial ability. All the best midfields have a few players who pop up for the odd contested mark or at least useful link up players that can mark on a lead. That’s why I think Perkins would be a perfect fit & the reason I really like Henry.

Same as in that he is a medium sized midfielder, if we get a midfielder they need a point fo difference like Perkins, I'm not overly keen on Henry.

Did you hear Twoomey say we have “cooled” on Perkins? Probably just Dodo throwing others off the scent 😆😆

Have you watched those games though?
I watched one of his games last year supposedly his best game, he looks good but i mean Perkins i think will be a superior player

Is reid likely to slip as far as the Pies 1st pick?

If that's the case
Perkins/Phillips + Cox, trade into those picks & taking Reid & O'Driscoll could be an option.

3x KPD, 2x inside mids + KPF
44 becomes useless if not used on a bid, so could either take Brand or shop it around.

Don't think so. Think pies would take him at 8

Perkins has everyone excited because of his size/ athletic traits. Henry has way more runs on the board than perkins though, had a solid season for falcons and excelled in the 2 biggest games of the year - playing for australia and the all stars game. People think of henry as only a marking player when that is incorrect. He's such a classy and player and a deadly finisher around goals. He's one of those players that never looks rushed when he has the footy, and almost looks to have endless time and space - like pendlebury. He also played in the worst side in the comp last year which was full of underage kids, put henry into the chargers or dragons lineup and people wouldve been talking him up a lot more. He wouldve dominated in a very strong falcons side this year. Id happily take him over say Bruhn, Enjoy the goal at 2:37 ;)

What about over Macrae, T.Powell, O'Driscoll, B.Cook?

Hes an interesting player. Reminds me alot of Laverde to be honest. Thats the first ive watched of him there isnt much aside from the kick mark. His marking is super strong but will it transition against strong AFL defenders.

Whats his AFL position is a very reasonable question.

I think hes probably a half back flanker set up the play type player at AFL level and considering their is not a whole lot available around that range id be picking him as a half back

The difference looks to be class and composure to Laverde. Laverde more a combative, explosive athlete

Not ruling him out as an effective forward either I just think guys with one trick there might battle a bit but havnt seen enough

eDPS how is McInnes looking as a draft prospect? Could he be that dominant big bodied inside mid we're looking for?
193cm and 86kg before the draft is quite impressive. That's Cripps-like dimensions.

Who would you rate higher as a prospect between McInnes and O'Driscoll? From the draft guide, I'd say McInnes is more talented, but O'Driscoll's endurance, consistency and two way running would fit us perfectly.

EDIT: Do you think Collingwood will match if we use pick 6 to bid on him?

You have to be careful comparing underage years to draft year players. Henry could’ve easily had a way better year than Cook this year in the same sort of role. I don’t think he’s one trick at all, he’s almost a gunston type with his marking ability, but not quite a tall forward. I don’t think the other 3 players are worth top 10 picks, NOd would purely be list needs but not sure he’s even on our radar that high in the draft.

I would take McInnes but only just, preferably get both! McInnes could have had a huge year playing mostly midfield and his numbers when he got to play pure mid last year where seriously impressive.

If we bid at 6 I don’t think they will match

Well thats what needs to be done unfortunately?
