i think the only issue there is whether those bests = more of the same
Phillips & Bruhn are good examples.
I get the reluctance to potentially let one of the better defenders slide (Reid v Cox) given we have Brand coming in and need mids....though i am a fan of both + Perkins as our haul. But 1x KPF & 2x mids does seem to make sense for us

If best at our picks for our needs could translate into best for our needs plus we get additional draft collateral next year, seems the smart move.
Depth is a real issue. One we could address if we nail the cleverness side

Yes but if more of the same means we are picking the best midfielders available we are still improving the list. Phillips may not be big height wise but he is a little bull around the footy. If we end up drafting a few decent mobile / marking tall players then it will take the pressure off our inability to control the ball around the ground.
In saying that maybe the play is trading out one of the picks to Collingwood for 14 and 16 if they want to get into the top 10. Take Cox and best midfielder inside the 10 and then a midfielder and ? in the teens followed by the two KP boys.

If Perkins goes top 5, does that mean whoever slips was truly a top 5 talent though?

Admittedly I don't know a lot about it in regard to who is ranked where, I'm just your typical highlights watcher, so I'm not really the person to ask. I guess I was more referring to the 'fab 5' or whatever the tier of players it is that people keep banging on about at the top end of the draft. I suppose it depends how you rate the person that slipped, everyone will have a different opinion, only time will really tell as to who had the right one or not... All I know is I will be flat if the perkinator isn't available haha

I'm finding myself sitting in the camp of

Perkins/Phillips
Cox
8 for Collingwood's future first and ideally 16. Failing that, a bid on McInness.

Collingwood's future first could be worth its weight in gold. If they finished say 12th and we finish say 16th, would leave us with 3 & 7 in a superdraft with Merrett's FA compo giving us pick 3, 4 and 8 in a touted super draft.

Cals latest phantom draft is interesting with Perkins keep rising, Bruhn keep dropping and NOD finally in the top 25. Also has him listed as 186 cm? I was under the impression he was at least 187/88?

One thing that does look certain and that is the amount of KP quality in this draft looks to have more depth compared to last season numbers wise.
The number of KP prospects inside the top 20 looks as strong as 2018 numbers wise.

His write-up on Powell sounds good. I'm so rooting for Cox. He sounds like he'll be a deadset gun.

Semi related, I think if North draft a bunch of Tasmanians, they won't be in Victoria for much longer.
They got a Hobartian for a head coach and there's been a lot of discussion down here for about a month now.
Easier to rattle tins when they're the only team in town.

Serious question (not having a go at you), but does Thilthorpes year long groin issues not scare other people, or is it just me?
Scares the shit out of me.

It won’t be good for my mental health just waiting for the inevitable to happen again

If there is a trade down, I hope we target Winder.

With the loss of Saad and McKenna we need a ball carrier. Winder matched-up on a Sandover medalist (Schloithe) and did a reasonable job at half back.

Has future midfield potential too. He averaged 28 touches and 5 clearances in the colts.

They draft McDonald, he requests a trade back to the mainland in 2 years, we pick him up for a single 1st rounder instead of 2. Bada bing bada boom

Hope we bid on the port NGA kid first up, exactly what we need and the only slight chance they don't match is if it's pick 6 (7)., I guess. Worst case scenario it costs then more, best case we get out ready made lock defender
Is he a defender?
