Hollands won’t get past swans
So north take him?

Best case for us would

Thilly
McDonald
Holland
DGB
Phillips
Perkins
Cox
Trade

Phillips, Perkins and Cox is basically the dream come true. If all three are available, stuff Collingwood and any other trades and just take them.
I'm set on McInnes, Perkins and Cox as the dream. All of them give us something we don't really have.
Phillips is good now, but will he be a Parish and plateau? Will it be a Parish vs Oliver situation where Parish does better in the first year, but Oliver has the better career? Is it a Billings vs Bont? Sam Walsh is great, but Bailey Smith is looking like he will pass Walsh. Taranto vs McGrath was looking like it was heading that way last year, but we're lucky McGrath turned out well. It's good to have the safe option for immediate impact, but I want the best player.

If we get Phillips, we'd have to trade someone out because we just can't bring in Phillips and Caldwell and keep our midfield the way it is. That's another concern.

I'd definitely select Phillips if he is available, but I'm hoping someone selects him before us so that we don't have the option.

The smartest thing to do would be bid on Reef at 6. I have him at 11 and that’s without playing a top age year in the midfield.
Reef perkins Cox let's do it

Can we sneak a bid on Jones

I'd rather not get Reid (prefer to trade back) but don't think it's the worst result at stages during the year we ran out some very small sides plus Hooker and Hurley are close to the end.
We are getting Brand and Eyre so no matter what we will have plenty of talls.

I am happy to take both Reid and Cox *if* those two are standouts compared to the mids available but team balance suggests 2 mids instead. My biggest concern is our complete lack of marking power outside our KPPs and 3rd talls. Langford and Heppell are the only ones able to take a grab. So if we get 2 mids they need to be good overhead.

Maybe it’s the lack of exposed form but this feels like one of the most unpredictable top 10s I can remember.

Plus there’s the high probability that Dodoro calls out a name at 8 that everyone else had at 25 and says “we actually rated him top ten”

I think were all infatuated with the dream of Phillips/reid/cox/perkins when really it'll be someone completely left field because Adrian loves that shit

Well, I mean...whoever we take at 8, you would hope we rated in the top 10...

I can see it going one of three ways, excluding academy bids:

1. Thilthorpe, McDonald, Hollands
2. Hollands, Hollands, McDonald
3. McDonald, Phillips, Phillips
4. DGB, DGB, DGB
5. Phillips, Reid, Reid
6. Reid, Thilthorpe, Thilthorpe
7. Perkins, Perkins, Perkins

Our 3rd pick I'm unsure on.

You can’t see the swans taking DGB?

Do you think Sydney take Phillips over DGB no matter what? It's good for us but I thought there'd be a chance they'd take him

That's the way I see it going. Each pick 1 has fascinating permutations. I'm hoping McDonald or Hollands goes 1 because I'm really keen on Thilthorpe sliding to us

I think we probably take McDonald second in two of the three scenario's (i.e Thilthorpe/Hollands to Ade)

I think we will take Hollands if McDonald goes #1.

Think there is a big chance he does. I'd much prefer he slips than Phillips

As I've said elsewhere, I only see you not taking Hollands if he goes 1. The one area of the ground you don't need heaps of help is with your key forwards. Larkey is going to be a very good player, Comben is an unknown but would have gone much higher last year if not for injury, Xerri will be your long term ruck but he certainly has talent as a forward too.

With two firsts you could grab a Nik Cox with Melbourne's pick or a Jackson Callow or Kaine Baldwin with either yours or our second round pick.

The ideal draft for me would be Thilthorpe, Perkins and a pick swap with Collingwood to get next year's first and pick 14 (read: 18)

You would be suprised at the amount of clubs who take players in the 20s and 30s that are genuinely in that clubs top 10.
