The ideal draft for me would be Thilthorpe, Perkins and a pick swap with Collingwood to get next year's first and pick 14 (read: 18)
I'd be stoked with those two & any of Powell, Poulter, O'Driscoll or Maher later.

i also wouldn't be opposed to auctioning Thilthorpe
if Freo/Ade offer 12/9 + F1 for access to him, i'd take that as well as the Pies deal.
3x 2020 1st rd picks + 3x 2021 1st rd picks.

Should fast-track our rebound.

I'd be very happy with that. I wouldn't mind Cox instead of Thilthorpe in that scenario as well.

I think if any of the fantastic 5 slide, it will be Thilthorpe. I don't see Phillips getting past the hawks or suns.

OP issues should be real concern for a 200cm player, and to me it seems unclear if he is a ruck who plays a bit up forward or vice versa.

Similar concerns were raised with Peter Wright in 2014 where he ended sliding to pick 8 after shaping to be a top 2 pick.

If he is available at our pick, hopefully Adelaide come knocking and trade their pick 9 + 22 for our pick 6.

Then we can grab an extra mid in the second round like Poulter, Maher, Trew etc.

I'd actually be looking to get Adelaide's future second in that scenario as it could open up a pick swap with Collingwood for 14 and their future 1st. Essentially for us it would be:

Out: Picks 6 and 7 (read: 8 and 9)
In: Picks 9, 14 and a future first (read: 11, 18)

That feels cheap for the Crows.
Kid that is every chance of going @ 1 for a later 1st & 2nd.

Given how much we need a player of his type & skill, i'd want a strong return for giving him up.

Are Perkins and R.Mcinness going to work in the same side together?

Will they not be battling for the same position early on and offering the same traits?

Once their fully up and going can they work in the same starting midfield together?

Where does Stringer, Laverde, Perkins, Mcinness fit together in 2 years time?

Would there be any point in getting Dunkley then?

Recently Twomey mentioned that Logan Mcdonald could be available at the hawks pick id expect clubs to be coming thick and fast for that including freo chucking away just about everything

Id hope we use pick 39(44) if a bid hasnt come for Eyre or Brand yet. Should still be something decent around Maher, Berry, S.Neale, I.Winder, Callow, L.Kolar, Dumensy, Ginnivan or Durdin, as small fwds, M.Mallard, Allison, L.Edwards, Bids on B.Walker and Joel Western

Yes they can work because we need a balanced midfield. If they turn out to be good mids, one of our smaller mids will be pushed out of the midfield

We can fully end the Stringer midfield experiment to play him forward. I certainly will not plan anything around Laverde’s place in the side.

Stringer inside 50
Perkins and McInnes in the midfield
Laverde in the EDFL

Stringer plays forward full time and Laverde locks down a wing or half forward flank.
have tried doing a "fill the gaps" exercise.

Minus our 30+yo's

Redman ??? Francis
Ridley ??? ???
Merrett ??? Langford
Laverde Stewart ???
Tippa Wright Stringer
Draper Shiel McGrath
Parish Caldwell Heppell Smith

McInnes into the inside mid role.
Perkins on that HFF, coming up through the midfield rotations
Brand & Cox or Brand and Reid line up the defensive spine.

Yes Perkins will be a forward for the first couple years. McInnes can play anywhere but will end up as a big inside mid. It’s like saying would Macrae and bont work together.

if none of the top 5 slip, a bid on McInnes at 6 to secure him plus Perkins would be a nice balance for the middle.
Likely writes off any chance of trading 8 back, in which case i take one of Cox or Reid and wrap it up with the academy kids.

Is there any (good) reason the draft hasn't happened yet? I know teams need time to work out their lists etc, but they have had plenty time for that now. Feels like this thing should have been done and dusted well before next week. Or is this simply the AFL dragging things out for the fun of it.

Well they couldn’t run it while kids had year 12 exams 🥴

As I've said elsewhere, I only see you not taking Hollands if he goes 1. The one area of the ground you don't need heaps of help is with your key forwards. Larkey is going to be a very good player, Comben is an unknown but would have gone much higher last year if not for injury, Xerri will be your long term ruck but he certainly has talent as a forward too.

With two firsts you could grab a Nik Cox with Melbourne's pick or a Jackson Callow or Kaine Baldwin with either yours or our second round pick.

The ideal draft for me would be Thilthorpe, Perkins and a pick swap with Collingwood to get next year's first and pick 14 (read: 18)
It's all individual opinion, but I just can't see Nth passing on McDonald if he is available.

Dragging it out I think. Teams can't even trade picks until draft night now and they've done their final workouts and what not so doing it like tonight or yesterday would've made sense

personally think trade week should run up until the draft and possibly during.
Could have had an in principal agreement to trade for Dunkley once JUH was off the board.

He gets bid on and matched
Then we can do the deal for Dunkley and Dogs don't get killed on draft night.

Every other sports league has the trade period go all off season and into the early part of the season. Ours could at least go into the draft.

Keeps Footy in the news til the new year when AFLW & preaseason kick off. Year round is AFL now.

He fits a big need but isn’t pick 6 a bit of a stretch for Reef? Yeah it needs to be a high pick so pies don’t match but surely you go best available with a pick at 6.
