If we got all of Reid, Cox and Brand would Cox be used as that link up player on a forward flank or wing? His height would mean a great marking target out of our backline, has the pace and endurance to run the field/blaze away and with elite field kicking into our forward 50?
He says he sees himself as a back man but reccon he could play the Tom Lynch (Adel) or Mitch Brown role (but a lot better).

Fine with Perkins and Cox. But would love to see us split 8 for the pies 14 and 16.

Yeah I’d agree with that. Where it gets interesting is if Thilthorpe slides and you had to pick between Cox or Reid... or neither... in favour of mids
A slider from the top 5 (particularly Thilthorpe) changes a lot of the strategy.

Focus on mids to hit the forward targets of Wright, Thilthorpe, Stewart and Stringer
Look at some X-factor in Cox & Perkins
Bolster the spine options and take Thilthorpe + Reid.
Then what of 8? Mid? Split? Cox/Perkins?

Can't see us taking 6 players. Think the only way it gets done is Collingwood giving us 1 of those picks + a future 1st

He'd need some role that isn't defender.

Brand & Zerk will battle it out for FB
Reid into CHB (noting Eyre can play there, Stewart has gone back and i reckon Zerk is better suited there)
Cox added to that mix gives us 4-6 options for 2 positions. Seems overkill.

Tall winger would be interesting. Esp if he's got the boot on him to set sail for home from >50 out.

Langford & Cox patrolling the wings with Ridley/Reid/Francis intercepting & distributing out of defence.

The whole point of the trade from a Hawthorn perspective is to ditch 21.
I'm sure 7 and 8 will at least be explored depending on Hawks and Bombers interest in whos still available at 4 (5).
If Hawthorn want to ditch 24 (which will end up somewhere between 28-30), good for you.

But we dont have to take it just because you want to get rid of it. Especially if we are giving up a top 10 pick for the privilege of having it plus a 2 pick upgrade.

Breaking News....
Hearing the Bombers are heavy into #1 draft pick from the Crows for the Bombers first 2 picks #7,#8!
Whom would the Bombers be targeting with pick 1?

Alec Waterman is an interesting one. I didnt think hed get picked up but some interesting nanes mentioned by Twomey basically showing that playing this year was crucial for guys like Avery, Waterman and Nick Martin...i dont believe any are upto the standard from what i saw.

Im not sure where Waterman sits in the side. For me he doesnt provide enough defensive work or speed. Hes a poor mans M.Wallis. i think id rather throw another dart at a young kid as some good ones will get through rsther than trying to cover the loss of Fantasia with someone whos not similar at all. I struggle to see his skill set transitioning to AFL. Id certainly hope pick 39 isnt being considered with him and that maybe eagles or freo jump on him before us with later picks

If true you'd have to guess McDonald but I don't see it.

my only issue is Cox is all about ceiling and potential.
Perkins much the same as a mid.

And we need mids.
I'd slide back for an O'Driscoll if we had Reid and Cox at the early picks.
Admittedly, i want to slide back for 2 unless a couple of top 5 "locks" slip.

Cox + Reid or Perkins + O'Driscoll...then take a look at who's on the board.
Personally I would like us to draft based on ceiling/potential. The last few years we seem to have drafted "safe" picks which is good because none have really been complete failures. But we need to take a bit of a risk and get some game winners in to take us to the next level.

Why haven’t you posted this “breaking news” on your clubs board?

By the end of the first round 24 will be about 29/30 is JHU/Campbell/Jones/McInnes/Coleman and potentially Downie all go in the protracted first round. Our 44 will also be about 39/40.

We should be able to match any bid from hawthorn-on after that for Eyre/Brand, then match the other one by going into defecit with our 2x 2021 3rds.
Got told these teams north, suns, dees, roos, port, hawks, freo and us are into cody and josh who have second round picks in 20's and 30's before your pick 44/ pushed back to 54 from Academy picks. These boys must be good players

Right. Well you clearly dont know how the bidding system works. All the picks before 44 which owned by Sydney/WBD/Port/Bris/Haw will dissipate once they are used to match a bid. Thats 10 picks before before 44 that will be used.

That means our pick will rise by 5 (10 picks lost through bid matches minus 5 bids made) if those above teams match bids before 44. 44 will not be sliding to 54

44 will move forward more than it does back once the JUH, Jones & Campbell bids comes in. There's a good 8 picks that will get sacrificed on those boys.
Expect it to be around the 39 mark.

would think it's 1 & 23 for 7 & 8.
which might explain why we're interviewing some bolters like Stone & co.

1 would be for McDonald. 6 we'd likely be looking at Cox or Reid
Crows would be taking 7, 8, 9 & 22. decent haul.

Perhaps there’s a belief that Adelaide might be able to get Thilthorpe at 7 if there’s an agreement Essendon doesn’t take him with 6 and he’s not linked to anyone else’s picks. Would make sense.
