Maybe were considering passing on Brand in pursuit of a late midfielder if we were to take both Reid and Cox

I think Reid, Cox and Ridley are all too similar and makes our backline too tall. If were picking both the talls i think we are well and truly turning/developing one as a key forward not withstanding they may start back

Take the 4 talls and Perkins
Finish last in 2021 and allow Merrett to walk as a FA for band 1 compo
Take Horne and Sinn
Win multiple flags
Wait till you see this Matt Johnson kid from WA.

He might challenge Daicos in my opinion thats hard to say because ive seen none of Daicos but i cant believe the quality i see.

Hes a dual sided 192cm Big body midfielder. I havnt seen much like it before and his improvement is seeming rapid aswell. The plan is for him to only play WAFL seniors next year which hasnt exacctly aided that well for some guys like Rich and even ODriscoll this year. He can go forward kick goals and also play CHB but hes a clear midfielder at AFL level. Looked in absolute cruise control in the state games

In the state game he had the eagles scouts turning and going how good is this guy

i like most of that, except the Merrett leaving part.

I only picked Horne and Sinn because they're the only ones I've heard of haha.

If we do suck next year and Merrett does want out at least the talent next year is super.

Now now, I'm with you and think that Dodoro's drafting has been ok, the fact is we haven't won a final, let alone a flag in 15 years is a reflection on Adrian. Doing the same thin expecting a different result is the definition of stupidity, ain't it?

I've come around this year to the fact the clubs lack of development has seriously hindered the development of any top notch players (MGrath not there yet, ditto Ridley, Draper could move into that same category post 2021).

I am not in the Dodoro camp. In a lot ways he was lucky Richardson's contract was up as it was very clear the two could not play together and in reality we had two list managers. My view is Adrian has had a good run. I start looking at it from the end of 2007 as that is the first draft we went into with with some sort of decent recruiting department so he has had 13 years. Who knows what may have happened without the saga as we where close to building something there but the fact is we have never quite nailed a draft. There has been some good results but we have always managed to be one player off having a great draft which is why I rate Dodoro as a 6/10. He would be picking at around 45%. His spot needs fresh eyes.

As for development I do not buy into peoples theories about our development being poor. It is my opinion only but I have no real issues with it. Of the players mentioned personally I think McGrath is exactly where he should be development wise given he was always going to be a player transitioning into the midfield. Fourth year in and he made a decent step up as a midfielder this year before he got injured late.
I have no issue with Ridley either. If anyone said that he would win the B&F at the end of his fourth year when he was drafted you would have taken it without blinking. Sure he could have played 5 to 10 more senior games last year but IMO it has had zero effect on the player he has become. I am also glad they tried him on a wing in the VFL. If it had of come off then there would have been a decent part of the puzzle solved.
In general we have played most of the young blokes. Problem is a few of them like Begley where just not up to it.

Getting back to this years draft I think it is going to be hard for him to have a massive miss unless the quality of the entire group is not as good as expected and then it will not be his fault. Given the picks we have I have confidence that all things being equal in the luck department he will get 2 right out of 6-7-8 and the NGA boys have decent potential.
Who knows it could be a 2015 situation. We just do not know right now. In saying that I feel some level of confidence that this draft will be okay and the quality of the KP players is pretty good.
I also think that anything could happen in the top 10. It is definitely not as set as some are saying IMO.

Me too, He will leave though If we suck. I have a feeling we won't suck and will stay.

Its hard to see how we dont suck?

I actually think our midfield will be the strongest part of our side next year. We need a huge year from Laverde, 35 goal year 20 games i dont think its entirely beyond him, now is his time and last shot. Hope he stops spending all his time in front of the mirros making himself look big and get out on the green grass more

Just spitballing...

Adelaide trade pick 1 to Essendon for 6+7 - They can get Thilthorpe at 6, Essendon will take McDonald.
Essendon also trade 8 to Collingwood for 14+16
Adelaide then trade 9 to Collingwood for their future 1st.

Ess - 1, 14, 16
Crows - 6, 7, 22, 23 + Pies 2021 1st
Pies - 8, 9 before Mcinnes
This is doing my head in. I had given up on McDonald and was set on Perkins, Cox, ODriscoll/etc. I need certainty.
