My one apprehension with Henry is I’m not quite sure I’d draft someone who is literally exclusively a flanker with a top 10 pick.

While I am not seeing him as a midfielder he would certainly be able to push up the ground and play wing if he makes it at AFL level. He would be a 3 position player. Just not genuine midfield.

Interesting to see who GWS are trying to trade upto with targeting pick 9

This tells me that the crows are taking Thilthorpe

GWS targeting a tall that we leave ie cox/Reid meaning were taking just one which is certainly the right call for balance with Eyre, Brand and two talls last year

How does it say this ? Not saying it will not happen but if the Crows took McDonald I do not think it changes anything.

We're fairly sorted for KPD's, and Himmelberg is developing well as a KPF. I think what your poster is saying is that Picks 8-12 are likely to include a few KPP's, and if we're looking at entertaining decent offers for Pick 9 then it could be because we've already taken a tall with our first pick.

Am hopeful he would but always a little skeptical with that kind of player

Aren't the differences that Cox is an elite kick on both sides, better endurance and speed and has put on more weight at this stage?
Reid is an elite user and has great endurance as well. The differences are marginality best.
Cox is competent with both feet and has excellent endurance. I don't recall these also being Reid's traits - are they?

Height and weight is similar.
Reid is also excellent kick and has great endurance.

Cox was made vice captain and speaks about being a leader in some of his YouTube stuff. That paired with his freak physical attributes will be extremely enticing for recruiters id say. Only main difference to Reid is he is not as proven as a Key Defender, and tbh I reckon teams will be drafting him based on his immense potential to be a threat all over the ground not so much as a key defender.

Really excited to have Cox and Reid as options around our pick, health permitting They both look like hits.

Yeah, if one of them is playing CHB and is an elite kick, I want that ball rebounding back by foot asap. Both sides of the body for mine.
I prefer Cox as well but the differences between the two are so marginal that whichever we get it isn't worth melting over.

This board gets in its head that they want a player and if we don't draft them it's the end of the world

i reckon, and its just my personal opinion - but every cycle there is a player that will come through and kind of break a mold, then for the next decade everyone want to try find the next him.. i guess everyone wanted to be the next fyfe, or bont, or cripps, or pendles - whoever.

But at the moment i reckon Harris Andrews is one, if you are 200+cm and a defender you might be the next freak Harris Andrews... well maybe thats just it, maybe hes a freak one of a kind. I dont know bout you but im pretty hesitant on any 200cm + defender, dosent quite feel right for me. I like the versatility and x factor that cox may have over him.

I think 200cm KPP's is going to be the new normal.

A number of the top rated KPF's are now 200cm - Daniher, Hipwood, Lynch, McKay, King x 2. Which means you need similarly sized defenders.

I also think the difference between Cox and Reid is not much at all. My preference is Cox for the fact I see him more as the CHB of the future and if we take Brand our Full Back position is then sorted.
Not a fan of Knightmare having McCrae to us with our first pick. Could possibly trade backend still get him and dont think he provides us with genuine match winning qualities that we desperately need.

what if you want both?

i like the idea of Cox up on a wing.
Endurance, height, pace, elite kicking on both sides
Sounds like a proper weapon to have both for zoning teams trying to come out of our fwd 50 and as an out for exits.
Also, Zerk & Brand are far from 100% locks to make it.
At the very least our current forward options (Stewart, Stringer, Laverde, Wright) have better exposed AFL form.

Reid + Cox at the first two picks
Mid at the last, or trade back for either 2 mids or a mid & future 1st.

WAITING

Waiting for the draft. After the draft waiting for some good looks at training. Waiting for the preseason games, waiting for round 1, waiting for each round after that. Waiting for other teams to play finals.

Feel like footy is almost all waiting, punctuated by short bursts of swearing and chucking stuff at the telly.

Thank god for BigFooty.. so good to be able to do something useful while doing all this waiting.

I want Perkins, Cox and Bruhn. That's my realistic ideal haul.

Seems everyone has settled on a format, even if we haven’t settled on who is who.

Key tall, midfielder, utility

I’ve got them in 4 groups.

Key talls are Cox and Reid
Mids are Bruhn, Phillips McInnes and Macrae
Utilities are Henry and Perkins
4th group is targets if we trade down, I’d probably be looking at O’Driscoll, Poulter, Carroll or Powell

Funny watching how Cal's phantom influences others.

Dan Cherny and Knightmare now following Cal in on us bidding on Campbell with our pick 8, despite making no practical sense.

Henry, Campbell and Brunh. None of it makes much practical sense. The concerning thing is it sound exactly like the sort of thing we would commit ourselves to.

Add a new midfield prospect who hasn't done anything since his 16th year to the other new midfield prospect who hasn't done anything since he was in his 17th year.

Select the mid-sized forward with the aim of playing him as a midfielder and the less athletically capable of the two potential talls.

Rinse and repeat.
