I wouldn't, but doubt he gets to us equally

Next month makes or breaks us. Collingwood, Carlton, GWS, North and Eagles. Best case is we are looking at 4/8 come round 11. Probably has us about 10th. 3/8 Probably leaves us where we are. 2/9 probably bottom 3. 1/10 and we are bottom.

Josh Green has improved out of sight, mid season draft chance.
Just so happens to be a 190cm+ contested mid, surely we looks elsewhere 😂

GWS academy, Tom Green's brother.
Yeah I eventually picked that up through context, but initially my brain saw Josh Green and mid-season draft and immediately jumped to the conclusion that our former Josh Green must have become a gun in the VFL.

Which would be weird, given he's 28, but like we've had so many players become good after we delist them that nothing really surprises me anymore.

...Anyway, if Josh is even half as good as his brother Tom we should definitely draft him.

Had a look at the first half of the VFL just now. Josh Green (the next one, not that Josh Green, or the one in Dallas) is worth keeping an eye on for the MSD but he'll need to show more imo.

Looks really strong overhead (took three very nice marks), tackles hard, has a similar frame to Tom and does have the ability to get his arms up high and over tacklers.

Seems a bit inconsistent with his hands at ground level and in close. He had two great handballs I can remember that put teammates in space, but would just want to see more of it. Particularly given his kicking action looks awkward.

Dodo has form with moving through connecting families;
Jackson - Zach
Kyle - maybe Josh
Josh - Tom?

Worth noting that none of the 19 year olds selected in the last mid season draft are on AFL lists still and only one played AFL games (Kyle x 5 games).

Pickett (Rich), Noble (Coll), Snelling (ESS), Gardiner (Bulldogs) are the lone survivors.
Hosie doing ok in SAMFL, ditto Michael Knoll. The rest? Hardly worth mentioning it seems

I’d imagine aside from possibly the 2020 season where the U18’s didn’t play, most normal years would see the MSD really only produce a couple of role player types.

This one might be a bit better given so many kids didn’t get any exposed form last year.

yeah.
Rare chance where this becomes a Mk2 2020 ND.
Doubt we'll see another MSD like it. I'm keen for us to really have a dip and build some midfield depth.
If we get lucky with a hit or two, can change the offseason in our favour & give us more flexibility with things like our future pick

Yet another reason I'd like to see them put Hurley on the LTI and get him right for 2022, gives us an extra dart to throw in the MSD.

Yup.
From what i've read we have 2 spots. Hurley -> 3rd and let him focus on health and getting match fitness elsewhere.

Not sure what the rules are, but if he goes on LTI is he not able to come off until next year?

The old rules used to be that coming off the LTI list meant demoting a rookie, I don't know how it quite works now that rookies can simply play whenever.

I imagine once you're on the LTI, if that list spot is used in the MSD, then you can't come off it unless someone else goes on to the LTI.

What about Mozzie?

What about Mozzie?
I think we have a spot + mozzie (which is the 2).
If it's 2 minus Mozzie, then there's a chance of 3 or 4. From what i've read, doesn't sound like we'll see him this year.
Both he and Hurls are indefinites and Shiel looks a long way from playing again this season
I'd be banking each of those spots to audition as many viable recruits as possible.

There might be a bumper crop of mature age players availiable in the MSD too.

The VFL and NEAFL didn't play last year, the WAFL season was shortened. The SANFL was the only state league to operate close to normal and ~90% of the players came from there.

Plus there have been many players who were delisted last year that would not have been delisted in a year without a list size reduction.
