My priorities:
=1. Polec
=1. Heppell
3. Gaff
4. Lynch

We don't seem to have a Gaff type at our club. He's going to be at worst a solid player.
His efficiency in the champs 79%, people have been questioning his disposal but I don't see what the problem is. He hits targets. This either means that he's got great vision and places his kicks really well or he has amazing penetration - which from what I've heard he doesn't have and is his biggest criticism. However I believe that this could improve with practice and with his work ethic I wouldn't count it out.

Do I have some logic?

I think this draft is more important than last years for us. We've started to build a list, now we need to address the holes. Grigg is a start, as is Houli if we get him.

I would love Caddy. He's probably the only draft prospect I've actually seen a fair bit of. I've seen him go forward and kick goals, and play well across half back as well as in the middle. imo a hard nosed, tough midfielder is exactly what we need and Caddy would be an upgrade over Jackson and Tuck.

I've never seen him play, but is Polec a more polished version of Connors, Newman, Morton, Edwards etc.? Midfielders/wingman with a bit of toe I'd think is an area we have covered.

I'm also slightly hoping for Ryan Gamble. imo we lack enough goal kickers.

You have plenty of logic. We need solid footballers. We need players like Corey Enright, Joel Corey. Good solid not flashy but do there job more often than not. We have Lids, Cotchin, Dusty, Jack who are our stars. I just think we need to take best available to strengthen our team and not go for the pie in the sky high risk high reward. We are not in a position to gamble

I like what I have seen on videos of Caddy but he's a lot like Cotchin or at least could be. If he goes to Essendon he will be there best midfielder.

Polec seems to fit our criteria and needs.

I think you are selling Morton short - the guy has shown he has what it takes in the middle and is still getting the feel for it. Added to that, we know he can kick a goal and Mitch suddenly becomes very important.
Newman has plenty of polish and Conners is a younger version - both attacking backs that can set up play with good kicks.

Ryan Gamble would take the spot of a kid that could/will be a lot better than him.

I dunno but there seems to be something very Aaron Fiora or Jarrad Oakley Nicholls-ish about the pick of Polec. I am not convinced about the skinny running outside wing/flanker type and will be nervous about his prospects if we take him.

He's taller and heavier than both at the same point plus he's been playing successful senior football already. I think youll find he gets a fair bit of hardball too. He can easily play inside mid if required. I watched all the SANFL finals and up againt good quality sides he was in and under. I can't see any Fiora / JON in him. Plus he just seems to have that hunger / aggression the others didnt

Polec has guts and determination, fiora did not.

if there was one young midfielder in the comp that most suits our needs its stephen hill, so im still hoping its polec if we dont get heppell.

i am sick to death about criteria and needs , of all the names mention for pick 6 if u kick the footy 50 meters away and told then to get it who would come back with it . caddy :footy:

I must be the only person on here who rates Reece Conca as a viable Pick 6. He reminds me of a taller and better skilled version of Nathan Foley. We need players who can hit a target and he is one of the best in the draft at this.

on that logic i would back jon every day of the week, jon would of got the ball & been half way back by the time caddy got to the 50mtr mark.

Very quick runner jon was

Conspiracy.

for the people who dont know, he is a fringe player at the lions, next time he is on i will ask him without seeming too obvious, does anyone know where tom lynch comes from, i cant think why they would become friends all of a sudden

Gee, GC cleans up....

Lloyd Knocked Bennell's work ethic on sen this morning, also said straight up that Gaff is going to West Coast... He has been working pretty closely with some of them..

As soon as work ethic is mentioned (Bennell) I say run a mile, to me he looks like the biggest potential 'bust' of the top picks.

Heppell likens himself to Josh Drummond... PASS - Don't need loose half backs who don't shake tags.

I agree we go get the best 'mid' at the pick. Don't worry about outside mids, wingman, etc just get the best all round midfielder in there.

Deledio is a runner, Foley goes both inside and out, as does Martin and Cotchin.

The stereotype that we need an outside mid scares me. To me outside players get tagged as óutside players' for a reason and one dimensional players get found out whether they are exclusively inside or out in the AFL.

If Polec can win his own ball in traffic then great, if Gaff plays both inside and out, then great, same with Atley.

For mine, Martin should be the mold we are casting, don't worry about inside players and outside players and wingman and whatever else, if we had a midfield of Dustin Martin's we would be winning games.

That means we get the player that can run, win his own ball, has defensive potential, has a big frame for a mid and has a ferocious hunger for the footy.

Just reading through Emmas Q&A from this afternoon and she seems to be all over the place regarding Conca, has him in line for us and Essendon and then has him as low as the Dockers & Swans at 20-21.

Edit: Emma also thinks that Mitchell will end up with either us or Brisbane. Fingers crossed.

hopefully mitchell to us rather than brisbane
