Polec or Heppell either one would be great acquisition. Conca has had ankle surgery not sure whether this may affect how he goes in the draft. Touted as being picked up late in round one, not sure whether there will be much upside to him. Hope either of the top 2 above come our way.

Have been tweeting with Jay Clarke from the Herald Sun, he is sure the tigers will take Conca at 6 (thinks that west coast had a good luck for pick 4). he even thinks that Heppell slides to Melbourne at pick 12.

Personally i don't agree I think Polec and if not then Heppell (who's groins are fine according to Jay Clarke)

I posted this on the 30th September;

Have faith, West Coast are into Reece Conca big time and may take him at 4. Whatever happens, one of Atley, Heppel or Gorringe will slip to us. I'm excited about all 3 to be honest. I know a Port recruiter and he said Gorringe is the best ruckman he's seen since Kreuzer.

Conca has been rated VERY highly for a while now. I'm backing our guys in, we did a super job (I know it's still very early) at last years draft.

I've changed my tune, but imo our most glaring list need, apart from any tall talent, is a hard nosed accumulator in the middle. Caddyshack is my preference.

Shapes as a fascinating selection. Conca has bolted across the whole draft, not just at Punt Road. I am very keen to judge pick 6 in the context of who we nab at 30.

Another inch on Conca would be handy. Sure looks and sounds an impressive individual

Give him no.39?

I'm now thinking Conca is a lock at #6 - there is a slim chance that Harper may slip down to be available at our second selection - very even draft !!

How tall is Conca?

I've seen some reports stating 179cm, some 182cm and some 185cm.

185 is from the draft combine so you'd think that is spot on. Yes, I have also read that others who have watched him lots think is definitely a sub 6 footer

He's no midget like prestia though - he's Essendon bound

Conca is somewhere in the 6ft - 6.1 territory and certainly not under.

He is a good size for the midfield - will put on a few kilos before the start of the season and be available round one.

If Conca had have tested at draft camp I think his name at six would be accepted as a no brainer.

Here is an interview which shows a bit of his character:

http://www.sportsnewsfirst.com.au/video/2143/sportsnewsfirst-talks-to-reece-conca-future-afl-star/

Spoke to a WAFL caller today - says without doubt he is an AFL player, not as impressive as Bennell but better than Darling.

I think that is as good a gauge as I've been able to get... if he slots in between those two he is a decent footballer.

Would be dancing around the living room if we can get Harper at 30... that would be an amazing return!

So many contradictory stories. Quayle and Clarke think Conca's a lock-in, but Paul Daffey (who I know everyone's thinking doesn't know his stuff) thinks it'll be Heppell or Polec for sure:

I took this from his 'draft prediction feedback' forum (link below):

what do you make of the news about Brisbane possibly taking Polec at pick 5 - if so do you think the Tigers would take Heppell? 2:31

Paul Daffey:

Hi Joe,

Brisbane might yet take Polec. I just don't think the whispers are quite strong enough.

If Heppell falls to 6, the Tigers would take him.

I noticed that you had Reece Conca at 20 but possibly at #6 for the tigers. If the tigers don't pick him, why do you think he will slip to #20 ? 2:20

Paul Daffey:
Hi Tiger,

I don't think he's any chance of going to Richmond at six; I was relaying a report from the West Australian, which no doubt was a hometown report.

I probably should have left such speculation alone.

As well as some small defense of his guesstimates...

I much preferred the Burgatron. He always had "inside information".....did you get yours from Big Footy? 2:37

Paul Daffey:

Hi Geoff,

I've got inside info as well. I just need a catchy name.

I'm so confused. I'm firmly on the 'wait and see' bandwagon...

It really is fascinating, I want to do the bolded part as well, but the evenness of the draft means every club's fans will be claiming a steal with picks 20-30.

ATM I'm sold on Tape (it's changed a lot over the last few weeks, and will probably change again before tomorrow), KPDs of Gourdis, Astbury and Tape sounds good to me.:thumbsu:

Interesting to note that in the Lynch article this morning it was mentioned that only the Dees have spoken to him since the combine.

It appears to have been removed, can you tell us what it said TradeDraft?

From the Lions board:

It was announced on the Richmond website that they had taken Conca and there was a spiel on how great a player he is. Someone getting ready for tonight and the AFL jumped the gun in puting it up there.

Conca was flown up there late after the rest of the top 10 prospects were already gone.

RFC_O said this on another board (PRE).

Yep, I spent all my day yesterday afternoon uploading about 20 player profiles of players we might draft. We had a variety of players up with pics, info, etc.

We're at the draft today, so we wanted to give you guys the most comprehensive coverage possible by uploading a few profiles in advance.

So it's likely that there were other profiles for pick 6 possibilities, the draft is not until tonight we will find out who we are picking then.

Yeah Greg Denham mentioned on SEN this morning that Conca has been flown to GC by the AFL at the last minute, supposedly on request by one of the clubs - presumably Richmond. He was speaking as if it was a foregone conclusion that Conca's name will be called out by Richmond. At the same time, a listener called in to mention that the announcement had already appeared on the website (can't remember if he said AFL or RFC website, or what).

Could also be a backpedal after making a bit of a blunder ;)

Lol, so much speculation... 9 hours to go :thumbsu:

Well that pretty much confirms it for me. Plus the website blunder.
