I wouldn't mind Gaff. While he might not have x factor or be able to win games off his own boot he would fit into our midfield really nicely. We don't really have any mids who just cover ground and pick up posessions at will. He will be a handy link player being able to drop back and help out the defence as well as providing an option for our plethora of inside mids in Cotch, Martin, Jacko, Foley, Tuck.

The other bonus with Gaff is his leadership and consistency. He doesn't strike me as the type to drift in and out of games but rather the type that just gets the job done week in week out.

BTW does anyone know if we can get access to the complete draft combine numbers. Frustrating only getting the top 10. Would like to know where Heppell, Lynch finished for the speed tests and the kicking tests etc

Have faith, West Coast are into Reece Conca big time and may take him at 4. Whatever happens, one of Atley, Heppel or Gorringe will slip to us. I'm excited about all 3 to be honest. I know a Port recruiter and he said Gorringe is the best ruckman he's seen since Kreuzer.

If that's the case WC should really trade pick 4 for two first round pics (to allow them to take Conca and Darling) as pick 4 is reaching for either of them and they may not be around at their PP.

Reading a couple different draft articles WCE are hesitant on drafting kids out of WA. So Im thinking that they will look at a WA boy....
Who is highest rated draft prospect from WA apart from Swallow & Bennell?

Off the top of my head, Darling. 4 would be a reach for him.

I wonder if Gaff is in calculations. He is not really rated on here but recruiters may see it differently.

2nd fittest (beep test)
8th fastest (20m sprint)

doesnt sound like a bad player at #6

that aid atley sounds class

Gaff had a good championships as well. The thing is while he has gone cold on big footy this doesn't mean he has changed in recruiters minds.

I agree on suggesting that he is the sort of accumulating mid that we don't have.

Lynch is slow as a snail though. Look no further than his combine results. He had the slowest time of all. What's the point of taking a big guy who's not quick off the mark? Reminds me of Patto. Big no for mine.

After finally doing a bit of reading on the kids, I'm re-confirming that I'm on the Gaff bandwagon. With the retirement of Cousins I think we could do with a gut running accumulator. Now I realise that he didn't exactly excel at the kicking and clean hands tests at the camp, but I don't think that should be held against him. The kid obviously knows how to get the pill and knows how to use it well enough to have been highly rated.

If we don't end up with him then I'd be quite happy to land either Atley or Heppell instead.

He isn't slow on the field. You would know that if you'd seen him play. The patto comparison is just idiotic.

And the winner is...

Queenslander Josh Wilkinson has earned rock-star glances after his performances in the running and jumping events earned him the unofficial title of the carnival's best athlete. On Wednesday , Wilkinson demolished the 20-metre sprint record. On Thursday afternoon, he finished second in the other glamour event of the combine, the beep test. The others in the running for athlete of the carnival are Eastern Ranges defender Brad Harvey and Oakleigh Chargers midfielder Andrew Gaff, whose already high stocks have risen further because of his combine performances. Gaff is now tipped to go to West Coast at No.4, behind David Swallow, Harley Bennell and Sam Day

Agree with the heppel train but after that im on the lynch bandwagon:thumbsu:

Where do I purchase tickets to the Heppell train?

Hopefully its not stopping all stations and headed straight to Richmond.

Don't get me wrong Lynch is my man but I want Heppell or Polec at the club before him.

Who ever FJ chooses I'll be happy with I'm confident he'll make the right decision.
