caddy is underrated, he is one of those players that will be very effective at afl level, surrounded by good players who know how to understand his game. obviously has very good hands, and can kick a goal as well as any inside mid.

on atley, i was a fan earlier on but the problem is he doesnt have the kicking skills, reminds me of sherman a bit actually, albeit less of a hff and more of a midfield type.

Gaff's really not that good, cant kick
1. Heppell/Caddy
2.Gaff

Gaff's actually a very good kick. Not sure where you're getting your info from. Even Shifter rated him as an excellent distributor and a definate top 5 pick. We'll be lucky if we land either one of Heppell or Gaff as WC and GC will most likely pounce.

Atley has much better decision making than Sherman. I'd rate him a better user of the pill than Caddy.

from what i've seen, he lacks penetration and kicking drive.. something i consider vital to being a consistently accurate and good kick

question concerning liberatore and wallis from the cannons, and the newly improved father son bidding system:
in order for the dogs to be challenged concerning the drafting of both boys, will we (for example) be required to offer our highest pick to snare either player? in any case, will the dogs only be required to use their highest pick after ours in order to secure their services? sorry to confuse..

im all up for drafting josh caddy, this kid will be a champ and is as tough as they come. Its a proven fact that finals are won and lost through the contested ball and applied pressure on the ball carrier, just look at the last 2 grand finals this year. i grew up looking at the team sheets in the local paper in the games caddy played and he was ALWAYS named in the bests. he is a true footballer whilst also having amazing athletic abilities as seen in the draft camp

8th in 10km time trial
8th in Beep Test, 14.9
1st in Clean hands test, 28/30, 93% efficiency

i always throught he was a forward because of the amount of goals i saw next to his name but this just proves he is a goal kicking midfielder and a very dangerous forward. people want us to draft kieran harper but frankly i think caddy is just as dangerous in the role that he plays.

though atley, gaff, and polec and lynch are good young players, they all having question marks over them. We need to get whoever is available out of heppel, gorringe and caddy but mark my words caddy will be a gun and will be a much better aquistion to our midfield in future years when tuck and co leaves.

If we bid our first round pick for Wallis the Dogs will have to bid their first round in order to take him. Then when Libatore comes up for bidding we could bid our first round again and the dogs would be forced to use their lowest pick closest to ours (which by that point will be their 2nd rounder).

Hope that clears it up. It's a bit hard to type it out in a way which is easy to comprehend.

Also the bidding happens before trade week. So once the Dogs lock them both in with their fist and second picks they cannot trade those picks or the players they have obtained with them.

Cousin played with both Libba and Wallis, not to reiterate all the media reports but they are both done deals to the Dogs, just so ya know.

Said it before, and i'll say it again - Gaff or Caddy at pick #6. All depends on what type fo player we want.

I am surprised that Caddy tested so well at the draft camp, i really thought he was the type of guy to slip in the rankings after testing.

IMO either would be fantastic pick ups with pick 6, and barring unforeseen draft day shenanigans from GC or WC, we should have one of them.

What about Heppell eays? I agree that we should be looking at Caddy and Gaff at 6 but surely Heppell would have to be included if not at the top of the list. I strongly suspect however that WC will take Gaff, GC will take Heppell and we will be left with Caddy. Looking at the two grand finals contested footy, decision making and kicking skills are whats needed on the big day. Guys with outside games just went missing so Caddy and Heppell would be good gets.

fair enough on Sidebottom and Thomas, although they can win their own ball and aren't afraid of a contest - unlike didak who was well below his best. I think it's fair to say that Collingwood made the Saints opperate in tight spaces and this is probably where footy is going in the near future so Heppell and Caddy would fit well into that environment.

I like Caddy - but nowhere near that much.

Still Heppell/Lynch/Polec/Gorringe/Atley/Gaff/Harper for me.

I'm with you TFLUA

On Didak he may have been well below his best because he was playing with a torn pectoral muscle. He was still very good in both games.

Didak is the biggest pansy in the game and wasn't very good in either game. Was in and out and only got into game two when the heat was off. He always runs around with the straightest back, never putting his head over the ball, preffering to toe poke it when there is traffic. He also hot potatoes handballs when tackled which can go anywhere and is highly praised when it comes off but commentators fail to criticise when it doesn't. Obviously he is very very skillful and capabale of magic but he is a massive skirt and i can't stand him.

I'm not the biggest fan of him either and I'm not going to derail the thread talking about him but my thought would be that because he is very skillful he is instructed to wait to be supplied the ball outside the packs so that he can use it effectivley.

but enough about Didak.

I wonder whether the club has contemplated Harper with pick 6?

His season was derailed by injury but his scope is massive and also his previous year with the AIS were very good for an indication of what he can produce.

I wonder if FJ has podered what his year would've been like without his hip injury and where he would've sat in the draft order.

The bloke played the last 5 weeks of the season with his pectoral muscle torn off the bone.
