if our U22 side at the start of the season is;

Grimes Gourdis Rance
Farmer Deledio ORielly
Edwards Collins Nason
White Griffiths Webberly
Taylor Riewoldt Post
Vickery Cotchin Connors
Graham/Browne/Westhoff Contin Hicks Dea Nahas Gilligan

then what postion do we most need to fix?

i think we are still short of 'tall-mids'. Deledio is played in defence, Tuck/Jackson/Polo each flawed. McMahon is gone leaving only Martin and Dea who are first season.

if we go for a tall with either of first two pick bit of a risk.

I would say just go two quality mids with our first two picks. The second guy could be in the mould of Zaharakis from the bombers who can play midfield but also is a good small forward.

Bolded players will be 22 or over at the start of the season.

Head over to the Draft and Trading board and look up the Draft Watch thread of Gorringe. Lot's of people getting off him at the moment. To be honest, I haven't seen a lot of him, however, I don't think we are looking at a Ruckman with our first pick.
Also, really hoping that we trade into picks 10-15 so that we can have a crack at Harper :)

dont worry i love Harper as well and agree with your above statement that i have put in bold, i can tell you right now though i dont really care who is Jumping off him on the Draft Watch section, i'm not going to reveal anything other than i can back it in that Gorringe will not Fall past pick 5 and there's eben a chance that he might go top 3.

Also i can tell you that we are looking seriuosly at a player named Dan Noonan, a solid key defender with great hands 194cm could be a rookie chance or a late Nat draft selection.

Gorringe would want to be more like Kruezer or NicNat than Vickery if we're going to go down that road again with our first pick....personally I doubt it and I hope we don't....you just need a competative, fairly mobile ruckman, they don't have to be a Sandilands or Ottens...
Premiership ruckmen:
09 - Ottens
08 - Bradbury ;)
07 - Ottens
06 - Cox
05 - Jolly
04 - Lade/Brogan
03/02/01 - Keating/Charman

Indicates a dominant ruckman is pretty handy.

Yes, but only Ottens went first round originally and was traded to Geelong. Jolly was a rookie pick originally and also a trade to his premiership side, the rest were mainly rookie selections with Charman being the earliest pick, going at # 29.

Do you think it would be a good idea to use our first round pick on a ruckman twice in 3 years?

My top 3 picks at the moment are:
Atley - the midfielder that we really need.
Jacobs - have liked him for a long time, could release Deledio into the midfield.
Ceglar - with only 3 ruckmen we need another one. Everything I've read about him suggests he could be a very capable AFL ruckman, good tap work and can take grabs around the ground. With a 3rd round pick he'd be good value.

No, unless the second one is too good to ignore. Vickery would still fetch us a first-rounder if we traded him.

What if Day slides...which isn't beyond the realm of possibility given what he's believed to have told the clubs...?...
We would be all over him.

If Day seriously is adamant about not going to GC I would trade something to get pick 4 .

This is such a risk really!!! You would be a mug to do it unless something could be guaranteed solid!!!

Mind you I would only trade for pick 4 if you could guarantee you would be getting Day. Can't see it happened though, but what would I know!

Well what would we trade to upgrade from 6 to 4 that WC would accept?? They will know Day is going to slip as well remember...can't see it!

Well we deal with his old man at work and he told a colleague that he was happy to go to VIC because of family. Didn't write off WA though so not sure on going to Perth?

A player like Harper or Pitt could be just what we need. We are in desperate need of quality ball users. If I was Craig Cameron I would be working overtime to trade for a pick in the teens to nab one of these blokes. Unless we have a guy like Veszpremi over the line.

In regards to Atley - only seen limited footage of him - where do people see him playing in the AFL. Looks like he is more the type to become a good solid player rather than a gun. Could be be a Corey Enright type?

Richo atdisko

22 year of age or younger at the start of the 2010 season

So I guess they will be older next year
No, dopey, older than 22 at the start of the 2011 season, hence 'will be', which means they don't qualify for your under 22 team.

Don't know about Ceglar so early. Have three between him and Gorringe/Lycett

Should have clarified, I mean in terms of list needs, these are my top 3. Obviously there are better skilled players that will/should be taken before Ceglar.

Yeah I understand - but I think there's more chance of a Hickey or Phillips being taken around the third round mark, and I believe they both have more upside.

TFL Tiger I am warming to the idea of Polec at 6. What I wanted to know is would you consider him a pretty sure thing to make a sucessful AFL career for himself. The last thing we can afford is to stuff up this pick. If he is sort of risky in that regard I would prefer to take Gaff who I consider a sure thing considering his talent and professionalism.

Cheers

I think Gaff is a surer bet, certainly - but Polec isn't incredibly risky as such - he's got insane hurt factor when he puts the ball on his boot, and evasive skills Shane Edwards would be proud of.

He needs to get his hands on it more and build a big tank - but all the raw ingredients are there.

You've got to keep in mind that us humble Mock Drafters aren't presented with the same data or chances to get to know the kids that the AFL clubs are - but Polec is my kid of the draft.

Will I take him in the real thing when I take on our list needs? I'm not sure.

TFL Tiger whats your thoughts on Matthew Watson 194cm and 99kg Key Defender and kicked 5 playing for Calder as a Forward.

Will this kid last to our second round pick? would the club be interested in him considering our plethora of backmen.

I watched him play in the last game of the champs and from memory played as a Key Defender and kept Darling to 1-2 goals, also is a superb kick.

Also watched Harper in that same match and was very very impressed with him kicked 4 classy goals and can play high HFF/Mid.
