Big difference!

Fiora was a rake that was gutless.

Heppell will develop into a big unit and has guts.

Only similarity is that they both kick with the left foot!

any chance we wont take an outside mid with pick 6 if we secure one or both of houli and grigg?

plus if we get adelaides compensation pick, it looks like there will be some outside mid types around at that pick that will be of more value than the tall available.

if we cant get Heppell i want Gorringe.
Gorringe and Vickery in the Rucks will be more than handy.

Plus we proberbly have enough half backs with Lids, Connors, Newman and potentially Houli.

Grigg will slot into the midfield rotations.

I too ride the Harper bandwagon but would accept Heppell and be rapt if we were to pick-up Gorringe.

dont want gorringe, id prefer to trade for a ruckman when were a good size rather than add a speculative ruck with such an early pick.

Sounds like Brissy will now have GC's pick 5 in a deal involving GC taking Josh Fraser (Pies getting a compensation pick), GC downgrading their pick 5 to Bris for their pick 10, etc. Not sure of all the ins and outs.

So, does this have much of an affect on us, and who we may take at 6? Anyone have any idea who Brissy are likely to take at pick 5?

Well I can't see them taking a Tall in Lynch or Gorringe like I hoped GC would. I'd assume they'd take the next best mid after loosing Rischa and Brennan.

So I guess the top 3 mids after Swallow and Bennell are :

Gaff
Heppell
Polec.

So I'm really hoping the lions want Polec.

I think it is safe to say Heppell and Gaff will not be available at pick 6 now. I assumed GC was going with Gorringe and therefore we could help ourselves to Heppell. This is a dissapointing development for us.

Would say our pick now comes down too:

Polec, Caddy, Smith, Atley or even Harper if we reached.

Unless we go big!

I would be happy with any of Caddy or Atley at 6.

We might be better going big Gorringe/ Lynch. We can get Heppell later in two years. I assume there will be some more compo picks next year with GWS so if we pick up more we may pick up Heppell, Scully, Harper and co only in 4-5 years time

Brisbane are going nowhere and Heppell will want out. They will be going down before up.

His not even there yet and he is already leaving lol.

TO TAKING A RUCKMAN INSIDE THE TOP 10....SUPPORTERS SAY NO!

Atley could be a goer!

Amcre I still rate Smith as well. So all is not lost IMO.

I read somewhere Lynch is nearly 200cm which for me is a worry. Gorringe on the otherhand has all these attributes but can be inconsistent getting the ball. He also is nearly 200cm apparently, At these heights I would lean to the ruckman because we have time to develop him and we can get plenty of mids in the next two drafts. GC looks as though they have backed away from Gorringe which is a worry unless they think thy can get him at 7, 9 etc.. particularly as Essendon will want a mid. Then again GC have good ruck prospects apparently plus now Fraser

I don't think we will set the world on fire next year but don't worry, if we play our cards right we will be very good in 4 years time.

Maybe we should call GC's bluff!!

If you have a look at the clubs which have picks in the top ten they will all, most likely, want mids which means that GC can take Gorringe and Lynch at 9 and 11 before Melbourne have their pick.

This means that Gaff and Heppell will most likely be gone before our pick. I think this may be why we are looking at Houli and Grigg as it gives us more flexibility to look at a tall at pick 6 and then draft mids later on and in later drafts.

It's been suggested that a lot of clubs will only take minimum picks in this year's draft and that even GC will only use around 10...so I wonder what our later draft picks will be worth in real terms?

Probably backed up by the fact that GC threw in three late ND picks as sweeteners in the deal to give up Krak for Josh Fraser's comp pick from Collingwood. But then I guess you would expect Collingwood to use those picks if they wanted to trade them in, or else they might have plans to on trade them for someone else I guess.

They can use them for their NSW scholarship rookies apparently (got that off main board)

I'm thinking they will snap up either Gaff or Heppell leaving you guys with Polec.

You are going to have a very one paced midfield for another year then.

Herper might come into it. If he get's a good medical and we can boil down his inconsistant form to injury recovery he could be a great get. I think he has every chance of becoming the "best of the rest" after pick 3.

He would be a risky pick, but could pay off big time. Would almost trade down 4-6 picks and take him though if you were gonna do that, because he wont go top 12.

Meh we have other picks..
Heppell is likened to Goddard so would expect the lions to pounce. Bad luck for you guys ,but still Polec will be a gun:thumbsu:
