Might as well as I think it is fairly even there. May have to throw in a player like McGuane but would be well worth it imo. Probably 11 and 15 though for McGuane and Pick 6.

That way you could take Harper and Darling or Harper and Smith or a few combos.

RFC won't do it though...probably still hoping they can get Heppell!

When asked who she thought the Lions would take with their new pick 5 Emma Quayle said thinks they will go with Polec ("Maybe").

Emma Quayle is just guessing like the rest of us though...really has no idea as well.

Emma Quayle would have a fair idea. She would have been at the draft combine watching who all the clubs were keen on. She also would have seen a lot of the under 18 games live and seen who the recruiters were following and she would also have contacts with recruiters. She usually has a pretty good idea of whats what.

Would use the Bock pick this year on Luke Mitchell...Calder Cannons or Dion prestia

So would I Amcre but I doubt he will be there. Hope I'm wrong though. I'm keen on Seb Tape as he will give us more flexibility with Deledio and Dion Prestia would be a great get and on talent he shouldn't be available but due to his size maybe he'll get through to us.

Try to orchestrate a trade to GC of our comp pick (from Adel for Bock) with a player eg McGuane/Thursty for a mid 1st rounder, up to pick 15. It may seem GC pay overs but it allows them the flexibility of using it in the next few years when its value will rise (once other comp picks used). This gives them the opportunity of a higher pick in a draft after their own concession ND selections have been used.

Really think this year it's all very subjective and down to personal opinion as to who you prefer - especially early.

In that case - saying particular names doesn't really help anyone - it's not clear cut enough to do that - and the guys just throwing names are the guys who've seen a lot of this crop.

Challenge to the guys who've seen these players more than once (live) or otherwise - let's give some reasoning instead of just names.

In an ideal world we can transfer our knowledge of the crop to those who haven't seen much but are eager to learn.

Good post TT. I'll do a write up some time over the week end.

Are you going to do one also?

I'll be posting a bit of an analysis - my top ten favourite players in this draft (excluding Bennell, Day and Swallow). They'll be from different places in the draft order but five of them will be in contention for pick 8.

If heppel is gone i think we should take a slight risk and take lynch as a 199 cm CHF with a good kicking action and a good set of hands doesnt come along to often.

Apparently he is a pretty good contested mark. Asked the same question on the d and t board a while ago.

Adding Houli and Grigg gives us 9 best 22 mids if: Cotch, Dusty, Foley, Jacko, Edwards, Morton, Grigg, Houli, Tuck. This is pretty much the required number so would not be surprised if we go with a tall this draft and add mids with our first picks in the next couple and with later picks.

yeah i was thinking the same thing bigsy, i mentioned that prior to draft week, that if we get both houli and grigg we may go tall with our first rounder, and then grab a mid or hff with our second. its probably the way to go, even though im not sure of lynch or gorringe.

i think of those 9 you mentioned, cotch, dusty, foley, edwards and morton are good enough, houli can be if he works hard and plays to his strengths, but jackson, tuck and grigg will need to be replaced when were good enough to be challenging the best teams.

True f41 we will need to add more talent to the midfield but you'd think if we went tall with our first pick this year we could do that over the next two years in time for a serious chalenge in 4 years. Also wouldn't be surprised if we try and land a big fish in the next couple of years.

I would be amazed if we don't. Given Gale's involvement in free agency negotiations, plus Hartley and the bare minimum salary cap, we're well placed to pick up a genuine gun.

Agree about going tall this draft. If we can upgrade our compo pick to another pick in the top 15, I would be very comfortable going Lynch at 6 and Harper/Parker or whoever at 15. I'd favour Seb Tape if he's around for our second rounder but otherwise there'll be some good mids, possibly Green, Prestia or Fasolo. Or Issac Smith.

If we trade McGuane + Bock pick to GC for 15 & 47 (ish), we'll go to the draft with 6, 15, 33 (ish), 47 (ish), 50 (ish), 54 (ish). Someone good will slip to those later picks, so I'm confident we can have another good draft. Getting that extra top-15 pick could make it very good though.

yeah i agree, i can see us landing someone good in 2 or 3 years time, when players see us rising up the ladder with a young exciting list.

we dont have enough quality talls on the list, and you want talls before smalls because they take longer to develop.

finding a gun chf would be ideal, but if we look at geelong and collingwood, neither have a real gun key foward.

so i guess it can work both ways. what i think is certain is we need to improve our foward line, and make sure it is not one dimensional.

adding lynch would mean we have griffiths and lynch competing for that chf position, in addition to vickery if he is played as a foward. its a shame griffiths has all those shoulder injuries, because he certainly has the height to play as a ruck and his mobility and versitility would be handy with the new interchange rules.

it will be interesting to see who we go with.
