The more I think about it the more I seriously reckon this is all a huge bluff/pisstake from the club.

Invite the worst possible candidate for re-drafting to train with the club, meanwhile hold secret talks with superstar brownlow medalist. When it becomes obvious we a frontrunners for him, hold a 'board meeting' and say no to superstar to make everyone think we are going to pick up pisshead hack with last pick, thus putting them off the scent, until the very last round of the draft and then out of nowhere BAM Cuz is ours! Why else would he nominate for the ND if the only club who didn't say no said they wouldn't take him there?

Please let it all be an ingenious plot :(:thumbsu:

I'd much rather Blease than Trengrove. I reckon I've heard more hype about Trengrove than Blease.
Fair enough, considering Trengove hasn't actually played a game this year.

Reading up alot on the D&T board and reading some baseless rumours:

1.Watts 2. NicNat 3. Hill 4. Hartlett 5. Yarran/Hurley 6. Yarran/Hurley seems the popular choice for top 6. If the cards fall that way the draft could look something like this:

Brisbane - Between Ziebell or Rich (this pick does not affect us)
Richmond - Definites for Vickery
North - Will select whoever Brisbane do not pick. Interest in Sidebottom but i think they'll go best available.
Adelaide - Trengove i think is a lock.
Collingwood - Swift or Sidebottom. Beams a chance. But imo whoever Collingwood don't take will be right in the mix for us.
Sydney - Johnston, Suban, Brown. Who cares won't affect us imo.
StKilda - Out of Blease, Lynch and Sidebottom/Swift.

Tried to view the draft from another perspective and not just hope and prey someone would be there. Sort of gives us an idea of who may still be around.

am i a chance for the 2k? :D

Jack Ziebell

DOB: 28.2.1991
Height: 188cm
Weight: 84kg
Club: Murray/Wodonga Bulldogs

Medium midfielder who is an excellent kick, exceptional decision-maker and great in the contest. Ziebell is an AIS/AFL Academy graduate and Vic Country under-18 Representative in 2008, winning All-Australian honours. From Wodonga F.C.

Watch highlights of Jack Ziebell in action

What sort of player are you?
I play mostly in the midfield but also a bit up forward and down back. I’d like to think I’m an inside player. I try to get a few hardballs and dish it out to the players who can run and carry it and bounce.

Strengths?
Probably my head over the ball and having clean hands under pressure.

Weaknesses?
Fitness. If I want to play in the middle at the top level I’m going to have to work on that.

Which AFL team do you support?
Collingwood.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
I played as a forward pretty much all through my junior career and modelled myself on Jonathan Brown but I’ve changed roles a bit, so not really him now. When I was at Collingwood (on AIS/AFL Academy duties) it was great being alongside blokes like Scott Pendlebury. He was close to the hardest worker and just does everything at 100 per cent and tries to improve at everything, in every way.

17 1/2 hrs to go. :thumbsu:

Intrigue continues as draft day looms

By Matt Burgan 5:34 PM Fri 28 November, 2008

WITH fewer than 24 hours before hundreds of youngsters find out their immediate football fate, this year's top 20 continues to take shape on the eve of Saturday's NAB AFL Draft, to be held at Telstra Dome from 10am.

There is also plenty of interest to see which way St Kilda (No. 13) goes in the draft.

Tom Lynch has been strongly tipped as top-20 selection now and the word is the Saints could be the club for him.

Matt Burgan’s latest top 20

6 – CARLTON – Chris Yarran

7 – BRISBANE LIONS – Jack Ziebell

I hope he's way, way off.

Lynch looks like a good CHF prospect, but i would've thought he would be not what we're after. Seems to lead and get a majority of ball up around the wing, similar to Riewoldt.

Surely Daniel Rich won't slip as far as 11. He has been touted Top 3 up until just recently. I've seen a bit of him in the WAFL and he is a gun player.

Looks like we won't have much chance of getting Yarran at pick 13. Shame.

Can't say I know much about Tom Lynch that they have picked for us. He isn't any relation to Alastair or Quentin is he?

He's not a Tasmanian like the great man Al so I don't think he's related to him Plugger. Just guessing but I wouldn't have thought he's related to Q either.

I think after these constant changes we can conclude/hope Burgan has NFI. Although Rich slipping another 2 spots would make my day

Not a relation of Alistair or Quentin.

One of the many Scholarship players from Haileybury College (and Sandringham Dragons) who isn't in same class as Tyrone Vickery (also Haileybury and Sandy Dragons) and isn't in the top 20 picks in my opinion.

Probably between picks 40 to 50. Will get drafted and good luck to him.

Also a good cricketer.

Played for Vic Metro and did reasonably well.

What times the draft guys?

Im hoping for Swift, Yarran, Blease or Trengove.

De Boer was rated earlier but seems to have fallen? Sounds alright at pick 47.

Gaertner is a beda boy as well. So we could have two on the list. :D He's a huge kid, not the most amount of talent, but would go alright...

10am
To be realistic as I can be I am really gunning for Sidebottom, Swift, Johnston <daylight> Blease <daylight><nightlight><some more daylight> Lynch.

And would really love an indigineous player to do the freakish. Charlie Sharples please.

This draft has been critically acclaimed as one of the most talented ever. The experts seem to think that the depth is exceptional - especially in talls.

We need to factor in at least two more talls to cover for the loss of key position personnel in Fraser Gehrig and Max Hudghton. This has been partly addressed by the inclusion of Jarryd Allen and possibly McEvoy (I say possibly because he has been recruited as a ruckman, and if he plays as a ruck and frees up Kosi for a key position then it is the same as playing a KPP)

I like the look of the talls, especially those that look like they can fill a key defender position with a view to eventually becoming a permanent full back.

I put together a list of players who I thought might be able to fill the above role and placed them in the order that I think they will go in the draft.
(I consider Watts, Schoenmakers and Cornelius to be pure forwards)

Hurley
Trengrove
Lynch
Brown
Johnston
Davis
McKernan
Post
Lisle
Gillies
L Jones
Young
Sibosado
Gaertner
Thompson
J Jones
O'Keefe
Still

I actually quite like the look of Lynch. His kicking needs work and he rushes his disposal but he has the instincts of a good footballer. He will develop nicely with AFL coaching.

We should be drafting the best available at 13 then with picks 47 and 48, we should take at least one tall from the above list (I'm hoping for at least one of Post/Lisle/Gillies)

I wouldn't completely rule out recruiting Roughead at 13. I can see us cementing our ruck stocks for the future with he and McEvoy becoming the premium ruck duo of the comp in five years time.

Thought we could have done better than Lynch at our first pick. Other than that, great draft I reckon. The highlights for me: Heyne a steal :D and NO CARROL :D :D :D

HEYNE! yes! yes! ****ing yes!:D

You sound like Billy Bright in Football Factory after finding out Chelsea had drawn Millwall in the FA Cup draw. :p

Anyway you've been red hot on Heyne all year and it does sound like we've done well getting him with a late third round pick.

The draft position of the players I listed earlier:

5 Hurley
22 Trengrove
13 Lynch
15 Brown
12 Johnston
10 Davis
28 McKernan
26 Post
50 Lisle
33 Gillies
32 L Jones
72 Young
ND Sibosado
ND Gaertner
ND Thompson
52 J Jones
65 O'Keefe
55 Still

It looks as if recruiters thought Hurley was the standout of this list, that Davis, Johnston, Lynch and Brown were all of similar desirability. Trengove probably slid due to the time he still needs to develop. It also suggests to me that Lisle and Young were value selections for their new clubs and that Sibosado, Gaertner and maybe Thompson could still represent some value in the rookie draft.
