As long as Kade Klemke ain't a knob like his brother. God he is on himself... Needs a tan!

And don't mean knob like he gets into any trouble or anything... Good family etc... Just arrogant.

From all reports Kade can take a hanger... Don't think we need any more handball receiving HBF's tho... Not 180cm ones... I'd prefer to develop Geary.

1st pick a good skilled mid, good HFF (Yarren please...) or a good KPP... Bloke mentioned above looks alright.

I think though the advantage of taking on more half backs is that it allows players like Goddard, Gram and Baker (for a tagging role, hopefully he's not shot though) to push up into the midfield. We've already got Ray, who we know is going to take on a half-back role. But 1 more, such as Klemke i think could be good. Anyways its always good to have a bit of competition for the one position.

With adding Ray to the list, Gram to push up the field and the possibility of Cousins joining in do you think the speed factor is a major problem or is it a massive beat up?

Imo you can never have enough inside mids. Look at Hawthorn, they're everywhere.

I'm hoping Macca will be a full-time ruckmen with rests in the forward line. And Allen, well he hasn't exactly set the world on fire down at Casey. We could do a lot worse than Johnston imo. And the Collingwood thing, i think i could deal with it. Maybe. ;)

The Hawks do have good inside mids, but they also have good key forwards and backs ( both in the case of Roughhead ). They have enough that they have players like Dowler who look pretty good but can't get a game.
It was the key position players they used their early picks on. There are plenty of good midfielders still going late in the draft. ( I think mitchell was very late ).

Victorian Jordan Lisle is a key prospect in the 2008 NAB AFL Draft

Jordan Lisle

DOB: 12/7/90
Height: 196cm
Weight: 87kg
Club: Oakleigh/Carey Grammar

A strong-marking forward who has ability to play back. Lisle is a competitive and courageous player who has solid skill level. A Vic Metro under-18 representative in 2008, culminating in selection in the All-Australian under-18 team. From Carey Grammar.

Watch highlights of Jordan Lisle in action

What are your strengths?
I’ve probably taken a few good marks here and there. I’ve played forward and back – versatility’s probably been my strength this carnival; being able to play either end of the ground and do a job either forward or back.

Weaknesses?
Probably more athletic stuff. My fitness has been good, but my speed and agility is probably something I need to work on to be the best I can be.

Which AFL team do you support?
Kangaroos.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
Obviously the best tall players, probably (Nick) Riewoldt, just because of his run, and (Jonathan) Brown [for his] big contested marking, just those sorts of guys. Matty Pavlich, along with Matthew Richardson. They’re probably the four I admire the most.

Draft countdown: Kade Klemke

Klemke246xWIM.jpg

Kade Klemke

DOB: 15/7/90
Height: 180cm
Weight: 78kg
Club: Murray Bushrangers

A medium defender who reads the play well and is a fine decision maker, Klemke's strong NAB AFL under-18 championships for NSW/ACT won him All-Australian selection in 2008

Watch highlights of Kade Klemke in action

What sort of player are you?
I’m a half-back flanker who likes to zone off a bit. I like to run off and get the handball receives, so I try to work forward as well as defensively.

Strengths?
Judging the ball. I read the play pretty well.

Weaknesses?
I could work on everything, but probably my kicking and being a bit more accountable at times.

Which AFL team do you support?
Sydney Swans; the whole family pretty much follows them except for Dad who barracks for Carlton.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
I base myself on Nathan Bock a bit … someone said I look a bit like him, too.

Don't want him, if I drink beer then try to say his name I will spray too many people around me.:D

Draft Countdown- Sam McGarry

McGarry246x316a.jpg

Sam McGarry

DOB: 21/04/90
Height: 186cm
Weight: 77kg
Club: Sandringham Dragons

An agile defender with good ball-winning ability and high work rate, McGarry was a Vic Metro under-18 representative in 2008. From St Peter's FC.

Watch highlights of Sam McGarry in action

What sort of player are you?
I'm very athletic. I like to run and carry the footy. I'm pretty agile and I play in the midfield, which is exciting, so I'm definitely a running player.

Strengths?
My speed and endurance – the physical side of the game.

Weaknesses?
Maybe my temperament sometimes. I could always improve on my left-foot kicking.

Which AFL team do you support?
West Coast. I was born in Perth, so I go for the Eagles. I was over there for the first few years after I was born and then I moved to Victoria. We actually moved to Kyabram, near Shepparton and Echuca, and then I moved to East Bentleigh and have been there ever since.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
I'd like to say Chris Judd or Gary Ablett, but I'm not sure – that's a tough question. I see bits of me in different players.

Heh, Sam McGarry, I got to school with that kid too.

Tis funny, his twin looks nothin like him. Is not athletic at all, can't play footy, and is doing subjects such as chem and physics. Whilst Sam got the sporting genes, but not much of the IQ genes. :p

Anyone know where he'll get drafted?

Draft Countdown- Steven Motlop

Motlop246xWIM.jpg

Steven Motlop

DOB: 12/3/91
Height: 181cm
Weight: 68kg
Club: Wanderers, NT

A medium forward with uncanny ability around goal, Motlop has clean hands and excellent evasive skills. He is a Northern Territory representative at both under-18 and under-16 NAB AFL championships. From Wanderers FC.

Watch highlights of Steven Motlop in action

What type of player are you?
I’m a medium-sized forward, so I like playing anywhere around the goals.

Strengths?
I’d probably say my speed and my marking. I did three seconds flat last time I did the 20m sprint, so that’s probably one of my biggest attributes.

Weaknesses?
My strength would be my biggest weakness. I’m certainly not the biggest guy out there, but my fitness isn’t too bad.

Which AFL team do you support?
Port Adelaide.

Which AFL player do you most resemble?
I suppose I do resemble my brother Daniel. We look pretty similar and I don’t mind taking a big mark and kicking a goal too. I don’t try and model myself on him, but people always say we’re exactly the same.

... which is why he's going straight to Port. They have just as many spots to fill this year, and they have been dreaming about this kid for AGES. Trust me, Port fans practically drool whenever you get them talking about having both the Motlops in their team.

I don't see why really, so that Port can get doubly frustrated when the both of them go off the boil and then doubly cheer when they get back into "freak form" to rinse and repeat for an entire season? If Port fans aren't bald already they will be after that...

Keep these coming Jack Mac.

Usually are a good read. I remember reading one about Jarryd Allen before the 06 draft... Gee he was a slider from memory! Rotating with Riewoldt up the ground in 09... Fingers are crossed that he could perform a role that Kosi couldn't this year!

Kosi to dominate in the ruck with King........

Draft countdown: Nicholas Naitanui

8:00 AM Fri 14 November, 2008

Naitanui246x316a.jpg

West Australian Nicholas Naitanui is a key prospect at the 2008 NAB AFL Draft

DOB: 4/5/90
Height: 197cm
Weight: 95kg
Club: Swan Districts/Midvale JFC

A high-leaping ruckman with outstanding pace, vertical leap and agility. Naitanui's tackling is also a feature of his game. A dual All-Australian at under-18 level in 2007/08. An AIS/AFL Academy graduate. From Midvale JFC.

What sort of player are you?
I see myself as a ruckman but I also like to move around the ground a bit. I like the backline, I like centre half-back, playing down there and reading the play. I’ve got to play down there a little bit with my WAFL club and I’ve also had a little run on the wing.

Strengths?
Yeah, probably my leap, and maybe my speed for a big bloke.

Weaknesses?
Probably my shots [at goal] from around 50m out, and my kicking overall. Also maybe my positioning to mark, that’s probably my major thing.

Which AFL team do you support?
I’m a Collingwood supporter, but I don’t really mind the Eagles and Fremantle either.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
I’m trying to mould myself on someone like a Dean Cox. I also like Adam Goodes as well. Big blokes that can ruck and run around.

No chance.

Wow why the hell is he so damned high up then? "yeah maybe my kicking is average, and I'm out of position when marking, but I can run, jump and handball pretty good"

coulda sworn there was addd emphasis on disposal efficiency and goal kicking to have a bloke so high up in teh draft, so don't want to see a whole bunch of Buddies going around kicking 100+ points or key forwards going at lower than 50%. Also, lol at the liking the backline but then his weakness being positioning to mark, he'd be slaughtered 9times out 10 if that was the case.

ST KILDA

Draft picks: 13, 47, 48, 62, 74, 83

What it needs

Kids, kids and more kids. Does not have the stockpile of young players its rivals in the top bracket enjoy.

The Saints took a developing ruckman (Ben McEvoy) last year. They will be trumpeting the "best available'' policy, but desperately need pace and someone who can run and carry the footy.

Perfect pick

CHRIS YARRAN (Swan District)

Super-quick 180cm goalkicker who may become a midfield option.

Draft Countdown- Daniel Rich

Rich246xWIM.jpg

Daniel Rich

DOB:
7/7/1990
Height: 183cm
Weight: 83kg
Club: Subiaco/Sorrento Duncraig JFC

A high-possession-winning in-and-under midfielder. Rich has quality skills including a penetrating left foot. He was a dual All-Australian under-18 selection in 2007/08. An AIS/AFL Academy graduate. From Sorrento Duncraig JFC.

Watch highlights of Daniel Rich in action

What sort of player are you?
I’m a midfielder who doesn’t mind getting in-and-under.

Strengths?
My left foot is okay, and I guess being an in-and-under type is probably a strength.

Weaknesses?
I know I can get a lot fitter. I can get my work rate up a lot more in games.

Which AFL team do you support?
I’m a West Coast supporter.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
Maybe kind of Luke Hodge just because of the left foot.

Jordan Roughead

DOB: 3/11/90
Height: 199cm
Weight: 87kg
Club: North Ballarat/Lake Wendouree

A developing ruckman with good endurance and good at ground level. Roughhead's ruck work is a feature of his game. From Lake Wendouree FC.

Watch highlights of Jordan Roughead in action

What sort of player are you?
I like the ruck. I’ve played most of my time in the ruck. I’ve only played a couple of years. I started at under-13s and was a full-back for a couple of years and then made the Rebels under-16s and went into the ruck and it’s all gone from there pretty much.
For North Ballarat I play in the ruck and full-forward.

Strengths?
Probably my ruck tap work, my leap and my marking ability.

Weaknesses?
Reading the play, getting to more contests and I guess working on my disposal a bit more.

Which AFL club do you support?
I barrack for the Western Bulldogs. My old man played ressies (reserves) for the Bulldogs in the late '70s I think, so I just caught on there. He gives me a bit of advice and helps out a bit.

Which AFL player do you feel you most resemble?
I always loved watching Luke Darcy and thought I played a bit like him, but after playing against Matt Kreuzer last year I’m trying to develop my game on him and what he used to do.

Ryan Schoenmakers

DOB: 8/11/90
Height: 189cm
Weight: 85kg
Club: Norwood, SA

A forward with good endurance, Schoenmakers is strong overhead, effective by foot on either side and can kick goals. A South Australian under-18 representative in 2008. From Tea Tree Gully FC.

Watch highlights of Ryan Schoenmakers in action

What sort of player are you?
I’d say I’m an athletic centre half-forward. I like to cover a fair bit of ground and deliver the ball to the full-forwards.

Strengths?
My biggest strengths are probably my skills and my athleticism. For a big guy, those two attributes come in handy and I’m not too bad at taking a mark overhead either.

Weaknesses?
My weakness is probably at the one-on-one contests. I tend to get pushed out the way at marking contests a bit, so I need to work on my upper body strength and get better in that area.

Which AFL club do you support?
I’ve always been a Crows man.

Which AFL player do you most resemble?
I suppose I’m a bit similar to Ryan O’Keefe. He runs a lot, has good skills and works up the ground a lot, as well as kicking goals, so he’s someone I watch a lot.
-------------------------------------------------------------

This is the sort if player we need. O'Keefe mk II.

couldn't agree more CHBench:thumbsu:

if the likes of Hill, Yarran, Blease, Trengove etc. are all gone by pick 13 then i'd have no objections with us taking Schoenmakers or even somebody like Heyne with Pick 13.. apart from a KPB and speedy midfielder i think that a solid half forward is the next most important thing we need to address (allows Kozi to roam a bit more and lets Riewoldt stay deeper rather than have to push up all the time)

big fan of Schoenmakers:thumbsu:

Report boost to Trengove's draft hopes

Jon Ralph | November 18, 2008 12:00am

  • STAR Vic Metro defender Jackson Trengove has roared back into top-10 calculations in the national draft after an excellent medical report on his troublesome knee.
Clubs had grave fears about the athletic 196cm tall's playing future after complications with surgery in June to re-attach his hamstring tendon.
A nerve problem meant Trengove, 18, struggled with movement in his foot and required further surgery in July.
It meant his standing as one of the star talls of the first round was put in jeopardy despite his excellent junior credentials.
The Calder Cannon had been regarded as a certain top-10 selection after shining in attack and defence.
But clubs recently received his latest medical report, which indicates he is expected to make a full recovery.
The report circulated to the clubs from neurologist Richard Gerraty states he has had "marked improvement", which "indicates significant nerve recovery" since his last check-up.
Trengove is now expected to join what clubs are calling the best assortment of athletic talls in the draft's history.
Key position talls Nicholas Naitanui, Jack Watts, Tyrone Vickery, Michael Hurley and Shaun McKernan are all expected to join Western Bulldogs' father-son pick Ayce Cordy as first-round selections.

Trengove starred in the first game of this year's under-18 titles before ripping the hamstring in a training accident before the second game.
AFL talent manager Kevin Sheehan said it would be a relief for Trengove, who is due to finish his VCE exams today.
"He is a 197cm super-talented key forward/key defender that everyone was talking about before it all went sour and now he's back.
"There was uncertainty about his recovery but the report says it is just about a full recovery. He looks like a first-round choice," he said.
One AFL recruiter said yesterday:
"He was widely considered a top-10 draft pick before the knee complications and he has certainly polarised various clubs.
"Now his medical report is through, I would anticipate he would be a first-round pick fore sure."

Good for him, bad for us.
Who's the next best thing, in case that Trengove is gone?

Yarran would be good, could be that medium forward we've been looking for. Solid size so could turn up to play Rnd 1.
I guess anyone with speed. But on the proviso they don't need 7 years to fill out. Looking at Blease here.

I have a feeling Blease will slip. Not that I know anything about him, but 'Eljay Connors Mk II' with a little more skill and pace, is unlikely to go top 15 I reckon. Just got a feeling he might slip to 2nd or 3rd round.

I dont know enough to really make an informed decision, but as I've said. Bevo and Lyon do. Whoever they take I'll be happy with.
