Not in my opinion I think that range for him is fair id pay a little premium for that kick and being W.A but that's just meYou don't think pick 6 or 8 is a bit of a reach for Farrow? I would have put him closer to 10 - 15

If Farrow is who we want and we didn't think he was worth pick 6, we should be able to trade that down.

We're clearly looking at defenders. The question is whether they come in through trade, draft or both.Imagine us trading down for a HBF with midfield potential….

You just described Duursma not to mention the addition of Cumming. I think if Tom Mac could spend more minutes in the midfield and phasing out Cole and Duggan there is a hbf spotImagine us trading down for a HBF with midfield potential….
That's generous on the VAFL media, seems like a lot of people who are supposed to be journalists following each other on social media and following group think instead of actually any real analysis!!Very rare that the VAFL media get it right with what we do, in fact I would go further and suggest that when they link us with a certain player it usually mean we don't pick him.
Regarding our Draft intentions I will say this that over the years we characteristically have:
- Historically we have been very good at keeping our real intentions close to our chest.
- Played cloak and daggers , smoke and mirrors as well as any other Club around our draft targets.
Now they may be correct this time, so it cant be totally dismissed, IMO Duursma is the best prospect in this draft so thats by no means a stretch from the media to suggest that we take him first , after pick #1 however, I still think there is a lot more to still play out between now and draft night.
Duursma isn’t locked into HBF, he can basically play anywhere. Similar to Baker in terms of adaptability. His point is that HBF with "midfield potential" is a pretty standard Eagles draft pick (Ginbey Allan)You just described Duursma not to mention the addition of Cumming. You make it sound like ginbey and Allan are bad players or something. Farrow is talented whilst also being versatile and we get a gun pure mid in cumming alsoDuursma isn’t locked into HBF, he can basically play anywhere. Similar to Baker in terms of adaptability. They’re not bad players but Ginbey was drafted as a midfielder (incorrectly for my 2c) and has succeeded as a back so while I love him and he’s fantastic at it, from the POV of drafting mid potential it doesn’t look great, and Allan is too early to tell whether that pick is good or badYou make it sound like ginbey and Allan are bad players or something. Watching Weddle last night makes me think Duursma would be a similar sort of player?
Winger, who goes forward and creates a potential mismatch.
Weddle was a real handful in the first two finals.
Ginbey is one of the best young backman in the league. Allan needs a good run before we can make a call. You make it sound like ginbey and Allan are bad players or something. Farrow is talented whilst also being versatile and we get a gun pure mid in cumming also![]()

Mids win the big games and thats our weakness. So wihile is great its a drafting fail. I hold hopes that in 2-3 years he will be able to play mid, but i suspect not.Ginbey is one of the best young backman in the league. Allan needs a good run before we can make a call.
I don't see Farrow as a top 10 pick probably closer to 20.
Disagree. If Hewett becomes what we need and we go Mids heavy this year we probably want Ginbey where he is.Mids win the big games and thats our weakness. So wihile is great its a drafting fail. I hold hopes that in 2-3 years he will be able to play mid, but i suspect not.
Im honestly not sure what you're talking about here mate.Duursma is far more versatile than just HBF. He’d line up R1 on the wing. Cumming is a MID/FWD that I expect the finished product to be a goal kicking midfielder, he won’t spend any time in defence.
I really hope we stop the Hough/TMac midfield experiment and draft actual midfielders like Sharp.
Baker Edwards Hough Ginbey McCarthy is a nicely settled and balanced defence once we add a decent KPD.
Thats lookiung very unlikely, he isnt powerful and isnt an accumulator. Hopefully he becomes a solid contributor. I think Gingey will stay back - but he needs to cut out the turnovers from poor disposal.Disagree. If Hewett becomes what we need and we go Mids heavy this year we probably want Ginbey where he is.
When you factor in academy bids etc., those picks become pick 8+9 or 8+11. Do you think the club would give pick 1 away for those? If Ess want pick 1 im biting their arm off if 5 + 6 or 5 + 8 (8= Merret/hawks) is on the table.
Cumming and Farrow at those picks is an insane haul. The ceiling on them is huge. Not to mention still having pick 2 and Hawks first up our sleeve to fill in the other list holes.
Hewett is plenty powerful.Thats lookiung very unlikely, he isnt powerful and isnt an accumulator. Hopefully he becomes a solid contributor. I think Gingey will stay back - but he needs to cut out the turnovers from poor disposal.
Just stats 1.2 and 20 disposals, 8 marks, 6 tacklesHewett is plenty powerful.
Needs to get a bit more core strength and improve his endurance to take the next step. Happy with how he’s tracking.
On another note - does anyone have a report on Duursma’s CTL performance today?
For us or for them to leave who we want alone.Pretty happy with Oli Greeves pushing himself up everyone’s draft board, sensational game.
