There have been some rumours about Brisbane being interested in Pike, delisted form the Roos.

I hope we stick to the policy of recruiting young players. Thats how we picked up Black for one.

Older players rarely work out esp when they seem to be a good talent but have been delisted for motivational reasons or more murkey off field problems.

I thinking sticking to the young policy is a good idea when drafting, but there is always the possibility that who we pick up might mot deliver the goods. While Black, Power and McDonald (just to mention a few), have shown their worth, there have been others that have been a waste of a pick (Like a few years ago when the Bears picked up that kid how wouldn't leave Adelaide, and then when he did, he nicked a few cars around the place, and when he was arrested said he was Ben Robbins, i can't really remember his name.)

I think Pike could be a worthy inclusion in the team, although he might need to smarten himself up off the field. Even if he only stays 2 or 3 seasons, he would be valuable in the back line, like a Heuskes, but not as arrogant (in a good way) and a bit more tougher at the ball. However, after saying this, we really shouldn't waste our top few draft picks to pick him up.

Well, we've drafted Jamie Charman the U-18 All-Australian ruckman for Pick 29, to bring our list to 34. Brett Voss has been de-listed. Consequently we have four draft picks No.13, No.22, No.33 and No.59. Pike might be worth a No. 59 pick perhaps. Some young key position players for 13, 22 and 33 is obviously the go. Nick Riewoldt would be the obvious pick, but he'll be gone long before No. 13.

Ok yes - to be able to pick up young Nick! There has been a hopeful rumour that he is determined to only play for his new club for as short time as possible before returning to the Lions. Something to look forward to...

Interesting to have picked up Jamie Charman a ruckman. We seem to have 3 very good ones already! Is he purely a ruckman?

I noticed that too. Is it by chance that the rumours are more accurate than first thought and that Keating will not be able to take on the task? Or maybe that he is earmarked for a CHF position next season?

I don't know - I just hope that we aren't putting too much stock in having ruckman, rather than other areas that need attention.
