No Problem.

The amount of football we all see must be "less than" the pro's. Me I see very little thru the year bar the champs , and most recruiters use the champs as a small amount of their total assessment. Considering we have a Fox Footy I do wish they showed some of the u18's , even if its night time filler. Im sure they could get the vision.

Even thou Chris seems to have a strong SA bias , he and Knightmare are two very switched on assessors of talent , have been for a long period of time. If Chris says R1 then Witherden must have something that appeals.

The other Falcon Id like to see atm is Lockie McCartney to assess if he draftable. Hard at it apparently.
I think any real TV coverage of the TAC Cup is a long way off. A step I would like the league to take is to live-stream games to the public. Every game is filmed so it wouldn't be too big of a stretch to get that done.
I would like to see more of McCartney as well, he's started this year very well. 36 disposals against Gippsland. His top age best was 25 disposals last year. I love players that are tackle machines too.

New update up on the 1st post. I really think this a deep draft. A few players outside the 50 that I think can still have an impact at AFL level.

Just wondering, what makes you rate Brodie higher than Sps?

do you think it will be like the 2014 draft?

I'll start by saying that at the moment the top 4 on my list are very hard to separate. But the way Will Brodie played against VFL competition early this year was extremely impressive, his extra 10cm over Petrevski-Seton will also allow him to impact more contests in the air than Sam. I also believe he has the potential to be the best midfielder on whichever AFL team he ends up at when he gets to his prime. In saying that, there are still areas I'd like to see signs of improvement in to have him at no.1 later in the year. Ultimately, he's the best I've seen so far (I get to as many games as I can in person) so until someone knocks him off that's where he'll stay.

KPP prevelant for once DraftMe?

Essendon are in the market for a Key Forward.

With the chances of a decent key forward likely available at pick 19 or pick 37, do we just go best available with the possible number selection?

Can't separate the top few as yet and no real dominant key position players have stood out just yet (bar the under age De Koning and the one off 9 goal haul of a Karl Brown).

Would you take one of McCluagge/SPS or Brodie and be done with it?

Now that Todd Marshall is available in the open draft it is possible he's there at 19 or he could even keep rising throughout the year and be in consideration for their 1st pick. Pat Kerr is one who I think might fall in the 20-40 range.

Mitch McCarthy is one with a load of potential. Overager for the Stingrays who spent last year in the USA finishing Year 12 and playing basketball. I saw him play at Punt Rd Oval in his bottom age year and looked like he would have been a very high pick if he had chosen football earlier. So far this season he's been used more in the ruck however I like him more as a key forward. Moves so well for a 196cm guy and marks the ball at its highest peak. No idea what AFL teams think about him but I rate him quite highly.

It's also possible the Bombers don't find the key forward they want in this year's draft and choose to play Bellchambers (still 26 years old) as a forward partner for Daniher next year with Leuenberger doing 80% of the ruck work. I would have no problem adding another high midfielder selection and you probably can't go wrong with any of the 3 you mentioned.

We will more than likely be selecting at least one KPF with only Daniher a natural forward surrounded by bit part guys like Hooker, TBC, Brown and McKernan.

Would really hope we can select two key forwards (don't care where, as we need to start addressing this need on our list. Key defenders are set for the long term.

Is Brodie the most rounded inside leaning midfielder? That is one area we have lacked. Would love a bull - at - a - gate Clay Oliver type, albeit with a bit more polish.

The other area I feel we need to address is a small forward and a rebounding half back (although some may argue we addressed this last year with Francis and Morgan).

They won't pick a forward just for the sake of picking a forward. Good key forwards are hard to come by and they'll want to find the best one that fits them. Maybe it comes this year, maybe it comes next year. Maybe it's through the draft, maybe via trade or free agency.

Yeah I do think Brodie is a well rounded midfielder and would complement the styles of other young Essendon mids (Zach Merrett & Darcy Parish). I wouldn't call him a bull or someone who can burst out of stoppages like Dangerfield but he's a very good clearance player and does his best work in congestion, getting the hard ball and getting the ball inside 50. Stands up in tackles well too.

As for small forwards, I've loved the work of Jake Long in the VFL this year and I'd love to see him get a crack in the AFL. Yestin Eades is also one who can fill that role.

Thoughts on Shawn Watson?
I did see Watson play up in Queensland and kick 4 against the Jets. He's a big solid target up forward (listed at 196cm/92kg) but can have too many quiet patches. The big guns all played well and got the most of my attention in that game; Bowes, Scheer, Rolls, Marsden, Allison & Williams. I will definitely try to watch him more closely in the championships.

Ben Ainsworth will NOT slip outside top 4.. no way..
In my opinion, the top 4 on my list are comfortably ahead of Ainsworth. I think he'll be a very good AFL player but can't see him being elite. I'm happy to hear why you rate him higher.

He made the rest of the Vic country / metro guys (which contained weitering, parish, schache, Collins, to name a few) look 2nd rate in last years carnival match. He will be absolutely Elite talent. Looks like a Brent Harvey clone, but taller.. and with today's training, I see him being an elite small forward / changing through the midfield. That will give him something really unique in this year's draft.

Don't get me wrong,. I really like Bowes and brodie, but don't think the GWS boys deserve to be so high.. and I can see Petrevski-Seton being a flop. Pure talent, but I'm worried about his attitude and commitment after hearing him interviewed.

I should add also.. Well done on having a crack this early in the year!,... I'd be more than happy if Ainsworth slipped to the crows 1st pick :) and if not him.. Jonty all the way.. He will be a beast..

Thanks! I respect everyone's opinion too.

I have also just seen the footage of the 1st incident Ben Ainsworth got suspended for (which he got 3 weeks for). It is the closest thing I have seen to Barry Hall's punch on Brent Staker. Ainsworth got a little shove as they were running through the middle of the ground, he then stopped, turned around and punched the Cannons player straight in the face (and did not hold back, hence the 2 compound fractures to James Peters' jaw). Very lucky to get off so lightly.

Ainsworth attitude is shocking, will slip to mid 1st round. Knows his getting drafted this year so hasn't left 2nd gear.

I think your comment is way off the mark. He seems like someone who is ultra-competitive and due to having a knee issue is not playing at the level that he would like and therefore being frustrated which he took out on another players jaw. No excuse for his action but if he could be playing at his top level he would be in his draft year.

My comment is 100% on the mark!

I must say it was great to watch Jordan Gallucci today. Looked damaging with every disposal he had and looked a class above the rest. Looking forward to his championships.

Well, yes....If you saw him at last years champs. then you''d know his pedigree.

Macreadie is the best defender in the draft. Every right to be a top 3

Having seen Essendons dire youth on the weekend in a surprise loss tobottom placed Coburg.

We really lack a genuine inside bull. Think Clay Oliver, Ollie Wines, Joel Selwood.

We have a strong top group if/when the rest of the 12 return but they are all 24+ and a lot closer to 30 than 20.

Will Hams is the only real 'beast' we have on our list and he ha hardly set the world on fire this yer. Was singled out for praise on the weekend but what for, I don't know.

Anyways, we also really lack that quality ball use coming from behind the ball.

Gleeson (above average), Ashby (average), and even Dempsey (good) as an older more established player are not terrific ball users.

In saying that, who are the better kicks in this years draft?

As has been mentioned, we are obviously in the market for a key forward so any updates in that respect would be well received as well following the news of Marshall being eligible for everyone.

The stronger inside players in this draft are Will Brodie, Sam Powell-Pepper and Joe Atley.

As for the better kicks in this year's draft, the guys that stand out to me by foot are Sam Petrevski-Seton, Jordan Gallucci, Jy Simpkin, Andrew McGrath and Oliver Florent.

Myles Poholke is one who could fit into both categories.
