Welcome to the Drafts and Trading board.

Please ensure you adhere to the following guidelines as well as the Big Footy rules.

General Posting

- Don't quote large posts.

There are many large posts on this board, quoting these in full only makes threads bigger and messier. In the end, it just results in people not being able to find what they want. So, if you want to reply to a specific section of a large post, simply edit out what isn’t relevant. Similarly, try to avoid quoting large posts and editing your answers into the quote. Again, it just makes things messier than they need to be.

This goes double for phantom drafts. Don’t quote the entire draft.

- Search first.

Chances are there is already a thread for what you want to discuss. Just because it isn’t on the first page, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. So use the search function.

- Don't insult posters, don't insult teams.

This isn’t Bay 13 or your team’s own board. Opposition posters can comment on your players, but just because they don’t share the same high view of them as you doesn’t mean you can abuse them. By all means defend your team and attempt to persuade them otherwise, but don’t attack the poster, their club or representatives of the club, e.g. using Bay 13 nicknames like Norf, Carltank, Bears, Essendrugs, plastics, Tuggers, etc, or posts that boil down to "haha your team's crap".

A number of threads have been derailed by this type of talk. Trolling will result in cards and board bans.

- Show some patience and respect.

Not everyone who visits this board is a draft or trading expert. Simply show some patience. If someone proposes an unlikely trade, perhaps try helping them rather than abusing them?

We’re also lucky enough to have a number of posters who spend considerable time watching and evaluating draft prospects. While nobody’s word is gospel, we want to keep these posters around as they add a lot of valuable information.

- Off topic comments about other teams.

Trolling teams based on prior trades, drafting or list management will not be tolerated. Any posts along the lines of “you can’t talk, your team traded pick X for player Y”, or “at least we didn’t give player Y a new contract” or “can’t believe you drafted player X over player Y” will be deleted and repeat offenders could find themselves with a card or board ban.

The same goes for trying to drag comments from a team's board on the D&T board. They are separate boards - if you want to reply or criticize something on a team's board post there, not on here.

- Draft and trading games.

All draft and trading games (with the exception of the yearly BigFooty Phantom Draft) are to be conducted on the Footy Games board found here.

Phantom Drafts

- All phantom drafts must be posted in the Phantom Draft sub-board.

- All phantom drafts must have the correct draft order, as of the time of posting.

- All phantom drafts must be a full first round at a minimum.

Don’t do any of those, and the thread will be deleted. If you can’t get the little things right, then the phantom draft can’t be of much value.

Also, we would like to keep phantom draft threads on topic and preferably about the specific phantom draft itself rather than the draft and players in general. If you have questions about players, then why not head over to the Draft Watch sub-board and create that player their own thread? A number of posters read these threads, so there will always be someone around to provide an answer.

Trade Week

- Confirmed trades.

Don’t post anything as being a confirmed trade, unless it has been officially announced. Rumours posted as fact will result in red cards being handed out.

Reproduction of articles

I think most people know the deal by now. Nobody is permitted to post entire articles, regardless of where they have come from. Pick out the important part, up to a paragraph in length, and post that along with links to the original article.

This is a directive from Fairfax, and nobody wants to get BigFooty in trouble, right?

Finally, did I mention to have fun?

Just a reminder that as we're approaching trade week, any rumour posted as fact (without some sort of confirmation) will be deleted and the poster will find themselves the owner of a brand new card.

On a similar note, we want people to feel free to post any rumours on this board. So don't attack or bait posters once they post these. You'll only find yourself off this board, and nobody wants that this close to the off season.

- Be nice.

This isn’t Bay13 or your team’s own board. Opposition posters can comment on your players, but just because they don’t share the same high view of them as you doesn’t mean you can abuse them. By all means defend your team and attempt to persuade them otherwise, but don’t attack the poster.

So Free Agency is all new and exciting, so we've been nice enough to give everyone a little bit of leeway over the first two days. But enough is enough. There have been a number of examples of posters resorting to petty name calling. Anything even remotely offensive will be deleted, it doesn't matter how good the rest of your post is. And cards will be handed out.

The mark of a good poster is one who can argue a point, without opening 'Trolling 101'. Don't be one of those other posters.

Do you want to talk about Free Agency, Trade Week and the Draft? Welcome, follow the above rules and enjoy your stay.

Do you want to try to be funny by making an offensive comment that only a 10 year old would laugh at? Well, try your luck over on Bay 13. I'm sure they wont eat you alive.

If there is one thing us moderators hate more than anything, it's having to do work. Deleting posts, handing out cards and banning people from the board takes time. So why would you want to do that to us? Don't you like us?

The trolling on this board is starting to get out of hand. If people choose to continue to use terms for a club that is not correct (eg. Norf), you will be given a whack. If you want to troll, please go to Bay 13. If you want to post, please read Chris25 first post in this thread carefully.

Bumping this thread again in the lead up to the off-season because it seems like a lot of the newer visitors to the board is skipping over it, especially the "Be Nice" and "Off topic comments about other teams" parts.

It's obviously time for the yearly reminder, heading into the off-season for 10 teams.

Wow it seems to be getting earlier each year - it's a timely reminder about this thread, especially the bits about:
  • No derogatory team nicknames.
  • No personal insults or name calling.
  • No off-topic "but your team traded X/drafted Y/delisted Z" comments.
  • No "but the thread on your board says...".

Now that trades are being done, can we not have any rape references? I wouldn't have thought that's too much to ask for.

One confirmed trade, and already 10+ posts about teams being 'bent over' and lube. It's not clever or funny. Just comment on the trade.

With the conclusion of the home and away season we are seeing a significant increase in traffic on this board.

Please make sure that you have read the above rules before posting. This is not the bay.

Trolling and the use of troll names, off-topic commentary attacking clubs, personal attacks on other posters, and dragging discussions over from other boards in particular is not tolerated and will result in thread bans and infractions.

If someone else is doing these things, please report it so that we can deal with it accordingly. Do not reply. Being provoked is not an excuse to break our rules, and your replies only make more mess for the mods to clean up.

Probably a good time to bump this.
