Ugh. I see the definition of "banter" hasn't changed in the SFA. So much poorly concealed hostility and insecurity.

Wayne's-World you brought a lot of intensity off the field, we'll be looking to move you into a more prominent position next game.
I'm in training .......want to make a good first year impression

DRAGONS FFC GET PLUNDERED IN OPENING ROUND LOSS

IT was a game that any established Dragons player was desperate to win - coming up against the Coney Island Warriors away, we were keen to get off on the right foot. Unfortunately, instead of the viagra Hatchy1992 usually slips into the drinks for the elderly players, he mistook it for sleeping tablets and it was all downhill from there. We arrived at Van Cortlandt Park not feeling our usual selves and it showed from the first bounce to the final siren.

The Warriors piled on six goals to one in the opening term, with the only saving grace the fact that were spraying them everywhere - having 11 scoring shots to our two. At quarter time Blaze Storm said "don't worry boys, it can't get any worse". I don't know if this was actually sarcasm because by half-time we faced a 61-point margin and even had to cover the eyes of some of the younger fans because someone had to think of the children! Much like the sun or a Twilight movie, it was unbearable to look at the scoreboard directly. The score read 11.8 (74) to 2.1 (13) and it was clear it was not our day.

We returned from the half-time break with the correct pills in our system, although it did make it a little awkward when Frankston Rover asked us what we were taking for that effect and tried to do a drug deal mid-game. Back on the field, it was a little better as we booted three goals to the Warriors' six, which as practically a win based on the first half. At the final break, Hatchy1992 revved the troops up "Come on boys, finish off strong here!"... unfortunately for our dear leader, he was at the wrong huddle - but at least it had the desired effect. The Warriors booted four goals to one to run away with the contest 23.13 (151) to 6.3 (39).

BigJoeD_ was the dominant player with six goals, but with the Warriors dominating the midfield, he had an easier day than most, sitting in the goal square, with the old fashioned 10 kicks for 10 scores. The six Warriors forwards kicked 15 goals between them and even though Bet on Blue was the useless one on the day down there comparatively, he at least kicked a goal with one of his two disposals. All the Warriors defenders barely touched the ball, which as clearly a directive from the Dragons leaders and we thought the most effective way to do that was not to put it inside 50.

As for the Dragons, Blaze Storm had 31 touches, six tackles and booted a goal, Hatchy had 23 disposals, three tackles, seven marks and a goal. WFL finished with the 19 touches and seven marks and mike123 had 22 disposals and four tackles as well as a goal, while xenxen made a successful debut with 10 hitouts to go with 18 disposals.

CONEY ISLAND 6.5 | 13.9 | 19.12 | 23.13 (151)
DRAGONS FFC 1.1 | 2.1 | 5.3 | 6.3 (39)

Dragons Goals: mistylake 2, Hatchy1992, PhenomenalV1, Blaze Storm, mike123
Dragons Disposals: Blaze Storm 31, Hatchy1992 23, mike123 22, VSTone 22.

Awesome work there P4L

A much better effort this week, Dragons. It would have been nice to come away with a win but to put in a competitive effort against last year's premiers is still a reasonable result even if we didn't finish this round on the winners' list. A slow start didn't help us but to get ourselves back into the game over the next couple of terms is something we can take away from the game.

A great game by Wayne's-World in just his second match with A Swallow, WFL, PhenomenalV1, Knifey Spoony and VSTone having good games too.

Despite the result there was still plenty to take out of the game and hopefully we can have a better start next week and put in a four quarter performance.

Go Dragons!! :thumbsu:

Great to get the win Dragons and get on the board in Season 26. It was a pretty tight contest most of the day but to pull away late and grab the win was most pleasing.

Some super games were had by xenxen and Blaze Storm with WFL, Hatchy1992, Pie 4 Life, mike123 and cammo6556 having pretty solid games as well. Good to see PhenomenalV1 kick five against his old time with mistylake and Daniel1812 kicking a few goals themselves as well.

Hopefully that's the start of things for us this season and the key ow is to take this effort into next week back at home. :thumbsu:

Go Dragons!! :thumbsu:

Good result this week. More importantly a great performance in the match thread. Let's keep it up for the season.
It helps with a side who provides quality to banter with and not getting personal

Hey Dragons,

I have a little announcement to make on behalf of the leadership group.

We would like to introduce to you, the Blaze Storm award for season 26 (named after the inaugural winner of the award Blaze Storm ) after a brief hiatus when it was first awarded in season 23.

Just a little about the criteria for this weekly award before I announce the first winner later tonight: (or after I get around to starting my uni assessment).
As well as the best and fairest votes every week, your leadership group will come together to vote on who they believe was that weeks best poster, with more weight given to quality. After all votes from leadership group members are in, I will tally the votes up and the poster with the most votes as named by the group will be awarded the weekly Blaze Storm award. Given that there are 6 of us in your leadership group, in the event of a tied round, there may be multiple winners for that week.

Of course, given that we are now 3 games in to the season, I will also be naming the round 2 and 3 winners over the course of the week.

At the end of the season, and during the clubs Ljp86 award ceremony night, the poster with the most weekly awards will be named the season 26 Blaze Storm award winner.
