Since finals is almost certain now, I thought we could put through our prediction/dream finals scenario for the season 2019.

Week 1: In week 1, we just have to play an interstate team at the MCG. Unfortunately, it’s more likely we end up playing the bombers back-to-back (R23), which is annoying. However, play an interstate team at the G. Get the crowd on our side, and anything could happen.

Week 2: The Giants over there would be our best bet. Hopefully, we play some tall defenders and neutralise their KPF. We have generally played well against the Giants except for that 1 quarter couple of weeks ago. We generally travel well.

Week 3 : Travelling back-to-back might be our weakness. However, can’t see the Cats knocking anyone over, and I think they’ll lose their top 2 spot to the 2 interstate teams. Hopefully our experience can outlast the youth of the Brisbane team. Repeat of this year’s smashing.

Grand final: We unless Cox against the Tigers.

All of this depends on the fitness of Wells, Beams, Stephenson, De Goey, Aish and Moore. If we can get 4 solid weeks from these players, we could push teams.

Don’t see us finish top 4. Plus think we need the extra game with many underdone players.

Realistically I see us losing the first final.
Possibly I see us winning a final.
Less possibly I see us winning 2.
A little less possibly again I see an unrealistic grandfinal appearance.
Unrealistically, I see us winning the flag.

Most importantly, I'd rather lose on the way than another Grand bloody final!

Unlikely - a $5 chance.

Essentially, we need to win our 3, and both Richmond (Car, WC, Bris) and GWS (Haw, WB, Suns) go 2-1 or worse.

AFL bias against Collingwood clear to see on Saturday when Sam Reid wasn't paid that free to help GWS along.

If we win against Melbourne, we'll definitely be favourites going into Adelaide. Richmond will most likely drop one against WC or the Lions. Our best bet is GWS losing to Hawthorn on Friday, if they don't then finishing 5th-6th is all but assured.

Agree. Winning 4 finals to win the flag will be far more enjoyable anyway.

Can't see Richmond dropping the Eagles or Lions at the G, top 4 on the line and they are flying at the moment.

Best scenario for me is Port first round, then go up to the Gabba where we play well then get the next two weeks at the G.

Just don’t see how Geelong keep top spot.

North, Lions & Blues. Will drop one at least.

Think Eagles & Lions top 2 is almost certain.

Eagles Lions top 2 is far from certain - and the big spoiler could be Richmond. Indeed, there is still a big chance for the Tigers to snaffle top 2 themselves, and it is almost completely in their hands. They have WC and Bris at home, so if they beat them both by around 20-30 points, leaving aside other results, that would bring Richmond to a superior %. All very speculative, but WC and Bris a long way from certainties for top 2.

Excuse me whilst I clean the spew off my keyboard.

None of this speculation addresses the really important question.... how many finals will the Cats play at GMHBA Stadium?

We have only twice at the Giants home. Once cox of Stevie J’s crumb.
Second time, we played way too short.

We belted them up there about 4 years ago - the year before the stevie j crumb. cloke went to town and we smashed by 30+ from memory after easing up alte. So we've definitely won up there. Reckon we also beat them by 100+ up there early days, and in a close one maybe 5-6 years ago when i recall josh thomas snapping a goal to seal it

Won our 1st 3 games at the showgrounds, lost the last 2.
