With the President’s Cup underway, just for a bit of fun, what if there was a hypothetical Matchplay Golf tournament featuring Team World (a combined Europe/International side) versus the USA, with the venue at Augusta National.

But instead of current players, pick 12 of the greatest players of all time and in any era to represent Team World, and the same for the US side.

See what you can come up with.

Ogilvy should also be considered (when he was at his best). Won 2 world match play and 3-0 in his 3 president cup singles matches. Not as good in his foursomes and four ball but sometimes you’re only as good as your weakest link

You cannot have the match at Augusta without the only grand slam winner and the architect of the course itself on the American side.

That much I know ;)

Zoeller/Couples/Watson/Spieth ahead of Trevino?

Spieth/Bubba Watson was an attempt to include today’s players outside of Tiger and Phil

Couples is made for that course

Zoeller was certainly one you can argue with but I saw him play in his prime

never saw Trevino in his prime

So many to choose from you are going to leave guys out —Lee got sidelined in favor of Spieth and Bubba

it’s why this thread topic is cool, can always question picks :)

Yeah i'm not having a go at you. The reason i put forward Trevino was that he won 6 majors. That's pretty impressive.

no question about it...fantastic golfer

it’s a hard list to make “perfect”

and I knew you were just pointing out I left him off, so no worries
