it clearly does,
so many injuries and early form slumps,
nearly all geelong players scoring well (steve johnson wtf???)
finishing top and out in straight sets
too much money at the start taking out all of the skill invloved

anyone agree?

This has always been a problem in no matter what fantasy sports. H2H comps are always so unpredictable especially in finals, this is made even worse in the open sallery cap format that both major AFL comps use.
A Roto comp with standard draft (ie pick a player then no one else can) would fix up a lot of these problems, but based on the success of both the afl comps here and the ease they are to run and manage compared to the other formats which are much more popular outside of australia it doesnt look like changing.

Id go back to running an AFL comp via excel like I have done in the past with a roto standard draft comp but it just requires too much time and effort.

Oh and my team is still alive, so its not sour grapes. Most people that have played a fantasy sport other than AFL will agree on how much better it is run.

i have played many other fantasy sports outside the afl and they dont even compare

my rant is about how unlucky/stupid i have been and how if they simply lowered the salary cap (which they will surely do next year) it would of made the year more interesting

They prob will increase the cap. To the AFL it's not about providing a game the top 1000 or so people to play well through tactics. It's for the masses, the massess who don't know how to play it. The more people that play it the more advertising revenue.

Hopefully they have alot more options in the backline and forward line. Everyone having the same team is kinda boring.

I agree. the extra cap made the shit coaches good without even having to check their team. they could just buy a heap of stars from the start and win games without hardly having to manage it.

It drives me nuts as I study the young guns, wait for breakevens, buy kids before their third game, stay up till 3 in the morning when i have work on monday, etc etc & other coaches can win without having to do any of that (and not even know they have won)... bring back dt 06.

PS. I like sour grapes. Ive worked at a winery...

I agree that the cap was insane. Way too much of a leveller.

But the injuries have not been anywhere near as bad as last season. Last season was shocking. I finished the season 2 men down and playing Pattison on the field. I used at least 8 trades on injuries, compared to this year where I have used about 3-4.

You've just had a good run this year obviously. Inuries have been shocking.

This year does suck, extra salary cap meant less skill, more luck with injuries was involved. EDT for example. Top 8-10 guys are pretty much ranked from the guy with the best run, to the guy with the worst run with injuries. Hardly any skill difference involved besides RaCKing.

Season is defined by Joel Corey. Like Joel Corey averaging 105? wtf. Worst player ever to average that. People picking up Carazzo have got about 200 points more than they should have only due to Stevens getting injured.

Next year, they'd wanna change the salary cap.

bring back premiums and non-premiums, make dt more interesting and challenging, it was much more fun back then. I can't stand getting 2000's and then go down in the rankings, 2000's used to be rare, now it is the average score!!

good points. but having said that, a lot of astute DTers would have picked up carazzo as a back knowing he would step up for carlton. on the other hand, alot of astute DTers did pick up marc murphy thinking he wont get tagged as hard as nick stevens. nick stevens injury screwed a lot of DTers but also helped quite a few.

Just kidding mate, certainly do agree that there is too much money in the salary cap. I hope this changes next year.
You won't find the AFL lowering the salary cap, it is in line with what the current clubs have and they will always have them aligned as such.

What they didn't do when there was a huge jump in the salary cap last season was increase the player prices accordingly. Hopefully the player prices will be a lot higher and bring more skill into the game.

Far too easy for novices to get lucky!

Salary cap = Poo.

I've said it many times before and I'll say it again.
All the knobs coming on here sprouting their 'sour grapes blah blah I think I'm some kind of superstar because I'm still in the final's' are simply the people who have benfited from these new rules. They're getting all excited because they're ranked inside top the top 1000. Well guess what? You're not good. The system just makes you look it.

Anyone who's played this game for more than one or two years before this season adn actually enjoys a real challenge (and a top 1000 ranking worth boasting about) would agree with the person who made this thread.

I'm doing well this year and am ranked 86 overall at the moment, but i agree 100%

Salary cap is way too high.. every team is filled with the same players, or atleast the good teams

The reason the teams are so simialr is that they have reduced the number of quality backmen and fwds dumping every running player in the world in the middle

There should be 2 difficulties and if you wanted can enter both. Simply just difference with the salary cap.

Name them Hard and Easy or something like that. The Hard one can only win prizes though and easy is just for fun?

Makes everyone happy

EDIT: Maybe they could do top 10,000 from last year are eligible to play Hard? <- Sounds like a bad idea, but i may aswell say it

Interesting idea, but it sounds like a bit much work on the virtualsports side.
And your right, I think your last point is a bad idea :p
