Watching the pre-season I think Rainsey might actually go back a notch this year. Will be overpriced in DreamTeams.
i have raines in my team, thought he was a real goer, having doubts tho. Will newman do as well if not better than him - DT wise?

Newman will become more of a loose defender with Raines playing BP...

Hopefully he moves into the middle, he is still very risky as he broke his leg not that long ago.

Whats to say newman will be loose?, or more so loose? Raines played BP last year and it didn't free Newman up. (For the games he played)

Depends on the match ups. Collingwood for example;

Medhurst and didak

Raines, Newman

add Cloke, Davis and you won't see Newman freeing himself up.

Raines is too pricey, Newman could be a good selection depending on price (haven't seen his value yet)

Can someone give me thoughts on 2 reserves, both Kangas, Smith and Hansen...is Hansen likely to play seniors?

Hansen might play but 1st year KP players are rarely worth picking up. Jesse Smith could be a tidy bargain. Highly rated, team with injuries and no depth, and he missed last season injured ... so is actually a 3rd year player. Could easily do a Heath Shaw / Andrew Raines and come from 'nowhere'.

Cheers Weaver. How about Sellar...is he likely to get more game time...funds are tight!!

I doubt we will see much of Sellar. He dropped down the draft order because of his fitness. He has been in catch-up mode at Adelaide. Their fitness standards are pretty high so I don't think they'll play him - they played him in the Glenelg reserves last weekend when he could have played Glenelg seniors.

For cheap backup in the forwards at Adelaide consider Nick Gill (3 week hammy). He is rubbish and might not play, but clubs rarely draft 24 year olds as development prospects ... they tend to take them because the expect them to play. With Meesan, Maric, Hentschell, Biglands, McGregor, Gill, Ricciuto all out and Welsh and Tippett with fitness tests ... who the hell is going to play for them for the first month?

This year Aaron Edwards should be the guy to have. Edwards could be a 50-goal FF because the Roos basically have to play him with Thompson down for the year. Anything Mark Williams can do, Edwards can do.

Gill will be v.lucky to play 1 game, Seller may play a 3-6 (later in the year). Maric will be 2nd ruckman later in the year also. Griffin will play till Maric is back, unless he's playing above expectations.

Adelaide generally have always had a vast spread of players kicking goals (mainly midfielders). So stay clear of their backup forwards (Perrie, Bode, Porplyzia). Bock, Burton & Welsh will be the main 'traditional' forwards that would regularly kick goals. Welsh is always getting injured so a bit of a risk.
