Do you ever have dreams which sometimes feel so real that you wake up almost believing that it has happened (which means you need a minute or so to work it out that it isn't)? And that they are sometimes so 'strong' that they linger in your mind for the rest of the day, and even a couple of days?

I dream every now and then, often meaningless, odd sort of ones (like what are you doing playing footy in my dream?!), but every now and then I seem to have more meaningful and realistic ones which I then find hard to shake as the day goes on.:p

I've been trying to achieve lucid dreaming in many possible ways. On two occasions I have discovered I have been dreaming, only to wake up afterwards. I remember once when I was younger having a dream so real I woke up questioning whether or not it was a dream.

Up until I was about 10 I repeatedly had a very lucid dream where I would be chased around the streets of Sydney by a purple F1 car driven by Ayrton Senna. Although I was on foot I managed to elude him due to rapid changes of direction coupled with the car's poor maneuverability.

I always woke up in a cold sweat just before he caught me.

Yesterday morning I awoke from a dream in which I was trowelling coleslaw as though it were cement.

But seriously though.... Are we talking about the one's where you wake up with sticky pyjama's?

This morning I had a dream about a little girl cornered on the stairs by two women, one behind her about to strangle her, the other in front of her about to squeeze lemon in her eye....I woke up at exactly 6:30, by myself yelling. It was strange.

When I was younger I often had a dream about my family going to a witches house, the witch making my brother not able to talk, killed my mum, sister and dad, and chased me around the house, then turned me into a frog, and then I woke up.

Sometimes I'll have a dream but when I wake up in the morning I will have no recollection of it. Then later on in the day I'll think I did something or something happen and get a sense of deja vu and realise it's what I dreamed about and didn't actually happen.

I had a friend stay at mine last night, and i had a dream that felt real and she was in it. I woke up and she was right next me which scared me a little

getting chased by monsters were the worst when i was young, saw a scooby doo episode with a vampire in it as daphne, ever since then when i was young i was shit scared of vampires and they were always in my dreams.

one time after school i had nap and i got woken up for dinner, had no idea what was going on, looked at the clock it was about 6:15 and hought i slept throughout the day/night.

walked into the lounge room and saw The Simpson on t.v and was thinking WTF, they have the simpsons on in the morning.
:o

took a couple mins. to know what was going on.

Well I woke in up a nice sweat after this dream:

Four friends are on the TV show Fear Factor and as the host Joe Rogan is announcing what the first challenge is, Megatron bursts out of the ground and kills everyone within sight swiping his arms and severing the people.

Decepticons then proceed to cause chaos in downtown Los Angles and Starscreen rips open a building to a find a 5 year old red haired boy playing with a Ben 10 toy and Starscreen looks at him, picks him up and then back down and flies away.

Optimus Prime and the Autobots appear on the scence and an epic battle begins on the streets of LA. Opitimus and Megatron begin to fight 1 on 1 and just as Megatron is about to win and kill Optimus prime, Legolas shoots a flaming arrow into one of Megatron's guns and the flames hit the gunpowder causing Megatron and Opitimus Prime to both explode.

Then I woke up dazed and confused.

I used to have 2 regularly.

The first I would be sitting on an aeroplane, somewhere near the back. The plane would crash, going in nose first. I'd be sitting, strapped in my seat as a fireball was rapidly approaching me. I burnt the first time and then woke up. On subsequent occasions I was able to wake myself up just as the radiant heat was hitting me.

The second I would be in various situations where I was armed with a handgun and being hunted. I'd get the drop on my assailants and pull the trigger, but I'd have no strength in my finger and the trigger would just keep pulling and the gun wouldn't fire. The assailants would open fire on me, I'd feel the first bullet thud into me and then wake myself up.

I haven't had the plane one for quite a few years now and haven't had the gun one for a year or so.

Used to dream of being chased by some crazy guy in a big hat (pirate hat, maybe...) and silly facial hair, much like Channel 9's Earl of Twirl...anyway, had this dream so many times, where he'd just be chasing me. After about 5 years of this recurring dream, the guy caught me...and put me in a tumble dryer...weird shit

The most lucid one I ever had though, was watching the news and they were filming some crazy guy, live, walking through a park. He knocked a small child off the swing and hit it in the chin upwards with a sledgehammer, then turned and looked directly down the camera...right at me. Had the most evil, emotionless face I've ever seen and I woke up, was about 11pm, and I sat up all night watching NBC Today and Infomercials, too scared to sleep...

One time I had a dream I was actually in COD, and I kept getting shot and eventually died

Always used to have the weirdest dreams when I was younger, when I was about 5 or 6 I used to dream that I forgot to wear either socks or shoes to school, that scared me so much.

I also dreamt once that we were rich and I got all these shoes and clothes, woke up, looked in the wardrobe and hated my life

I would have a dream that I forgot to do work that was due on Monday or study for a SAC, then I'd wake up and think it was Monday when really it was Sunday.

My dreams are ****, nothing ever happens. My brain must have the worst imagination, my dreams consist of driving in a car or going to the shops and seeing somebody I know.

The worst dream I've had was only a few months ago. I was at my primary school when it went into lockdown and a student was going around killing people and there would just be mobs of people running around trying to escape.

Also, I've noticed my more eventful dreams occur when I've been asleep for a long period of time (10-12 hours).

Last night I dreamt I was Sly Raccoon (from the Playstation game) and I was at Leavers week, and had to sneak around and escape from the organisers who were trying to break up my gang/party/kick me out from where I stayed.

I don't dream about anything lifelike. Most of the time I just dream about having sex with chicks.

When I was a kid, we used to go to Goolwa in SA (I live in Adelaide) for regularly holidays as we had a holiday house there. We used to go into fairly dense forest and pick mushrooms to cook on the bbq for something to do.

I used to have a dream regularly where a werewolf would attack us in the forest, we escape but news spreads that people are mysteriously being found dead and mutilated. The werewolf was scary as hell, I remember in the dream that I would see its shadows coming around a corner and it growling deeply then I would wake up.

The forest still gives me the creeps to this day.

There was a nightmare I had a few years ago which was pretty scary, but I strangely enjoyed it because the story was actually really gripping. Nuts, I know, but anyways, I'll try to retell it as best I can.

One of my best mates and I at the time are looking for a place to live. We see in the paper a new villa-type thing has just opened up in the centre of town (Wodonga, for what little it's worth), and the rent is ridiculously cheap. "There must be a catch!" we both assume, but we go and check it out anyway, we would've been crazy not to.

So we get to this place, in the centre of town, and it that's when it gets a little weird. The villa is my old primary school, exactly the same as it used to be, except the gymnasium is now a gigantic, WWI style barn. Because all villas need a barn like that. We do a tour of the place, and I eventually get over the fact that it's my old primary school, because they've refurbished the inside of the rooms to be really nice. Fully loaded mini fridges, free of charge, free AUSTAR, and anything else you could want.

We get through the tour and wind up in what I guess was the manager of the villa's office (the principal's office of old), and we say that we really like the place, but there's obviously a catch. He says the only condition of living in the area is that we partake in a "little psychological experiment" (this is the point we should've GTFO of there). Not a huge deal, we conclude, sign all the contracts we need and move into the rooms later on that day.

A little while later, I'm in my room, having a nanna nap (dreaming about dreaming - did it before you, DiCaprio) when I'm woken my the creaking door. I sit up, to see a mentally deficient man come at me with a syringe full of what can only be described as green gloop. He jabs me in the arm with the syringe and I ask him what he's done. He says that it's stage one of the experiment, and that all that formula does is take away my ability to run. "F*** that!" I think to myself, and just as I get up to leave, he tells me I might experience some heavy drowsiness also, and I pass out on the bed.

I'm awoken at night by my mate, who I hadn't seen since I signed the contract, looking relatively frightened, saying that we "HAVE to get out of here!!". I open the door to see absolute pandemonium. Buildings are on fire, people are on fire, people are screaming in distress over dead loved ones and guys in gas masks are running around with AK-47s. It's at this stage I casually notice that my roof is on fire (I think I'm still a little sedated by the gloop), so we bail on the room and make for the giant barn, thinking we'll sleep on the hay.

We eventually reach the giant barn, and it has become a sanctuary of sorts. Many of the village's surviving tenants are taking shelter inside, and for some strange reason, it seems inpenetrable, even to the mysterious guys in the gas masks (but maybe not pr0bst). I breathe a sigh of relief and turn to my see my mate, who followed me into the barn, but he's gone. Absolutely no sign of him, and apparently no-one else in the barn saw him either. I swear black and blue that he was there, and begin to panic, which begins to freak out the other refugees (I guess you'd call them at this point). I'm eventually sedated again, and drifting in and out of consciousness and I'm carryed out of the barn and into what was the 'out of bounds' area when it was my primary school. The last thing I see before I lose consciousness for the night is the same disabled man from before, who says "this is stage 2".

I wake up the next morning (near the boundary of the school/village) and look back at the village. There is absolutely no sign of the carnage that occurred the night before. All the buildings are as they were, and many of the people who I had seen dead were walking around with their families again. For some reason, this is the point where I say "that's it, I'm out of here!", and head back towards my room, to grab my things and GTFO of there. I note as I move (rather slowly) towards my room that everything is all of a sudden feeling very eerie. I get frightened to the point where I think, "I can just get new stuff" and turn towards the boundary to leave.

(This is where shit gets real weird.)

As walk to leave, I hear a distant voice yell out "Where are you going?". I turn around. It's my missing mate. I tell him I can't stand this place and that I'm leaving. He says he's afraid he can't allow that. At this point for some reason, D-Grade horror movie style dialogue kicks in as I say "What is this?" and he replies (rather cringeworthly), "This is stage 3, bitch!" and puts a gas mask on, in what has to be in the top 10 dream betrayals of all time.

I realise what's going on and know that I have to get out now, and fast. I take one last look over my shoulder to see the rest of the village sprout up from the ground, all in gas masks with AK-47s. I try to run, but I can't, due to the syringe I'd been stabbed with the night before. But everyone else can run. So I'm doing my best Nathan Deakes towards the nearest fence (maybe 50m), while the 100 or so villagers are running full pelt at me, with bullets flying all around me, but not hitting me. As I approach the fence, my movement and motor functions slow rapidly, but I reach the fence, scramble over and run (I can run now apparently) as fast as I can away from the school/village, leaving the disgruntled residents shaking their fists at me, much like the Shelbyvillians in the Lemon Tree episode of the Simpsons.

So, while it was no 'Katy Perry comes in my room late at night' style dream, it gave me a severe "WTF is wrong with me!" and slight chuckle the next morning.

(inb4TL;DR)
