Dropping Bell...

On form, probably due.

However, of all teams, why drop him before we play Collingwood? He's the only proper small, accountable defender we have in the side at the moment?

If I'm Leon Davis, I'm jumping at the bit to see Junior Mac line up on me come Monday.

pure stupidity. why would they drop bell when there are still guys like wheatley in the side?
but it got worse... have you seen who they bought in?
Bode, Jamar, Carroll and CJ. This has got to be some sort of sick joke.

I for one am glad he has been dropped. It's been about time as far as i am concerned. He makes too many errors especially under pressure, does not provide any run, is outbodied on many occasions and misses too many targets. Delisting material like many of his colleagues.

He has been dropped because he can't do what the coach wants. The replacements may not and have not proved to be much better. You don't reward mediocrity which is why buckley is out too.

We wouldn't have a team this week if we followed those principles for each and every player.

That is not entirely true BC.

We are all well aware (including Bailey) that our list is not the best. Bailey has his arms tied a bit and even though we are struggling it doesn't mean that you can't play to instruction and improve. We have some ordinary players out there but if the coach thinks they are moving in the right direction and are listening to what he is saying then he is more likely to back them. Given our situation, there isn't really any other way to coach.

I agree that he would be a better match up than say JMac on Davis. I would have preferred anonther similar young defender type take Bell's spot if we were going to drop him. Still, Bell has hurt us with his disposal and decision making and in front of the biggest crowd this year he could have been a liability. Confidence or lack there of speaks volumes.

I take the point.

However, what could be better for his confidence than a quiet word in his ear and back him in for our biggest home game of the year?

I'll reserve my judgment till I see who makes the cut for tomorrow, if its CJ that takes his place, fair enough, he's earnt a spot. If its Bode though, I will be ropable.

Well that is true too I guess, this caper is not very simple at times. I guess the coach has made a judgement call that a player who should be at a better level than he currently is may be too big a punt for a game like this.

He's been named in the starting 18, replacement for Frawley whose out with a shoulder problem.
