What did you guys do on saturday night?
I ended up heading back to my mates cousins joint in diamond creek got there at about 7. Cracked open first beer, then. Sat around didn't really say much. The grog got flowing and started talking to me mates cousins who were all collingwood supporters. They were top people too, very funny. Anyway, the majority of us were Dons, so we had more drinks had a great laugh. 10pm finally came, and it felt like 1am, I was still pi$$ed off. I needed more grog. Only stuff on hand was bourbon (yuck!) and as informed by the label, "Brewery Fresh" Carlton Draught. Sank about 6 of them down and by then it was 1am. Got bored of beer, moved onto straight jim beam, which tastes like urine and metho mixed. And before you know it boom. 6am. We spent at least 5 hours talking absolute ****. Including me, arguing with one other Dons fan, arguing about robert walls. She is convinced he is a "great guy". I didn't bother arguing, but her bf? or mate? did, so I watched them go hammer and tongs for a good hour about "The bearded prick". Got home to my mates flat at 7am. Having an ASDL internet connection, we surfed for pr0n for a good hour or so. Great fun.
So what did you guys do to erase any pain?

9.30 a.m: Wally arrives at MCG Hotel , The Rave and Tiny are waiting and have already started. Tiny...as usual...is "topping up" from the previous nights escapades.

9.45 a.m: Big Gaz arrives with Woody, and Peely and informs us his missus has scored a prime spot in MCG carpark....directly opposite gate 6 in the Southern.

10-10.15 a.m: Weighty....complete with 'continental' sausages, Jimbo, Lobby, and The Sponge arrive.

10.30.-11.45 a.m: Beers and banter with "Magpie Mick The Barman". Young Lions supporter is trying to earn 100 bucks from her peers for standing in the middle of our crew and "singing" their club song. Very poor attempt, Wally and The Sponge make her "sing it again....louder" before letting her go. Much better effort, she gets her money. Well done young lady.

12.10 p.m: Arrive at carpark with refreshments (6 slabs of VB), The Rave fires up the barby and doing his finest Bernard King impersonation, cooks up a storm.

12.30 p.m: "H" arrives and announces there's a "BabyBomber" on the way, to much cheering. More beers are consumed in honour of "H"'s impending motherhood.

1-1.30 p.m: TV cameras making their way to our gathering, filming our shenanigans. Wally sticks his ugly mug in front of camera and says 'hello'.

2.17 p.m: Well lubricated and a gutful of The Rave's finest burnt offerings, Wally, The Rave, Mr and Mrs.Big Gaz, "H", and Weighty take up seats besides Brisbane race.

Half Time: Beers in bar downstairs, feeling is, we've just about fired all our shots. Big Gaz says we're in trouble, we all agree, but are hopeful. Our fears are proved correct in the second half.

End of match, it's back to the carpark for post-mortems and more beer. Rest of group arrive from their respective positions inside the 'G. A group of old 'Roy Boys' come past and are giving us a serve, Tiny tells 'em to "get f*cked", Big Gaz invites 'em over for a beer. They are good blokes, we give 'em our congrats and tell 'em "we'll kick your ar$es next year".

It's dark, no beer left, Mrs.Big Gaz and "H" pack up and are going home leaving the boys to their own devices. Down to the Duke Of Wellington to 'have an ale with the Whale'. During the course of the evening, numbers start to dwindle.

It's after midnight, Wally and new friend ;) catch cab home, leaving Tiny, Big Gaz and Woody to wander the streets of the city. We're going to Windy Hill for the wake tomorrow.

Sunday,
12.30 p.m: Wally and new friend, The Rave, Big Gaz , Peely, and The Sponge (the others for a variety of reasons can't make it) meet in social club for more beer to ponder 'what went wrong'.

4.30 p.m: we say our goodbyes and in some cases...'see ya next year' Wally and new friend get something to eat and home by 11.30.

Monday,
7.27 a.m: Wally wakes up and is late for work. "Aahh f*ck it", rolls over and goes back to sleep.

Walshy,
There was a group of misfits singing their unique version of 'See the Bombers fly up' after the game. Dunno if you could hear 'em, but that was Wally's group of misfits.

We had decided before the match, that, win or lose, we were gunna enjoy ourselves. We enjoyed ourselves.

where's wally?

early morning into ground, floated between cricketers arms and the royal, over to ground with the boys into standing room, back scotty lucas for norm smith, more out of loyalty to the big man than anything.
half time, think I`m in with a huge chance as Scotland is braining them, didn`t want that lynch goal right on the siren.dons go down, wait for siren, congratulate the three bandwagoning lions fans near me,ring maggot supporting wife to come and get me from the vaucluse, for a supporter of the maggots she is quite understanding, go home and watch the bill.

About 14 bourbons at the local, and then crawled into bed about midnight.:(

Disappointed, but not crushed....

As my mates and I kept saying over and over after the game:
"At least it wasn't Carlton or Collingwood!!!"
"At least it wasn't Carlton or Collingwood!!!"
"At least it wasn't Carlton or Collingwood!!!"
"At least it wasn't Carlton or Collingwood!!!"
"At least it wasn't Carlton or Collingwood!!!"
"At least it wasn't Carlton or Collingwood!!!"

And I added to that, "At least it wasn't Sydney!":p

The game ended about 2:30 am local time; I kept watching through the post-game bullsh-t, pretty much in a state of slow burn. Didn't feel much like sleeping, even after a drink or two; probably finally got to bed around 5 that night.

Then I went on vacation. It'd been planned for a few weeks and it happened to work out as good timing - took my girl with me to Florida, which really should have been called London south, because I swear that every other person I encountered was a Pom. I just got back tonight.

I've had a nice respite from the jeers of certain Collingwood supporting types, but I'm sure that the main board has probably been in rare form the past four days. But that's okay, cause I think I've come to the conclusion that it's just a stupid f-ing game and it'll all go away when a new season starts.

I think I just wanted this premiership a lot because it is really the first full season I've followed as a spectator and as one who really understands the game. I knew the game the last two years but not like I do now, and I knew the players a lot better.

Ah well. Sh-t happens.
