And im asking why would that be, when he has scored 3/4 100s against geelong, avg 135 against tigers, 3/4 100s against dons and a 96 against the lions which is a small sample size, so doesnt really count for me.

Lets be honest you made a mistake and thought it was last years data or something not his entire career.

No i got the stats of afl.com - dreamteam when you get the pro details of the player and what he avgs vs that team. said so n so has played this many games and avgs this and that. It never said what they scored in the last 5 past games as Jolldo87 pointed out.

I never said he would "Struggle" as bad as you make it out to be.

I was saying he more then likely won't score 100 every game to keep his price up and come down in price and then you could jump on him at a cheaper price. and spend the money else where.

What's more likely is that Goddard will smash out a 130+ average for the first 5 rounds and will be the most expensive player in the competition.

And you'll be sitting there with your dick in your hand.

Dont think any of my players would be ready to upgrade to Goddard after round 5 anyway, particularly right up to the very top $430k which you projected. Thats a lot of cash.

pull your head in john.

what's wrong with him throwing out a theory for discussion?

Because it has already be proven quite wrong and incorrect the numbers he gave and the reasoning behind it. Have a look at those avgs against those teams from last year. Rich, Ess, Geel, Bris.

Also read the next 3-4 post under you, might clear it up to show why its such a stupid thing to say.

Just ask DWD how many teams he has this year.

That will shut him up.

Wouldnt shut me up because they would all beat your one team that was pathetic.

believe the main point that can be drawn from the last half dozen or so posts is that dreamteam gold (or whatever its called) is money down the drain

Pretty much. All the information is already out there anyway in more detail anyway. FanFooty, TooSerious etc... provide pretty much anything that you could ever want.

How much was Ablett at the start of last year, up around $450k - $500k IIRC. So many people questioned whether he was worth it, but he proved again he was worth the coin despite spending silly amounts of time in the fwd line because Bomber was a sook. Same thing with Cox the year before that who was I believe over $500k.

To me Goddard is a no brainer for premium back, irrespective of the cost - he is consistent, the right age, durable and in a top 8 team. He ticks every box you'd want in a DT player. I hate the comparison, but Goddard is the new Chad Cornes - crazy if you didn't have him IMO.

I give you roughly 3 months before you start using a different name for these forums...

Raw Talent.

Goddard is a no brainer. I am worried enough about not having Ablett never mind Goddard.

In the backs main issue for me is Enright. He really could either way this year as he may play more in the middle or with a more defensive game plan drop off a bit.

My alternative player would be Fisher who may get more of the ball if Gilbert goes forward. I will no doubt make the wrong choice!:D

Enright will either do what he has done for the past 5 years or if a move into the middle will increase his numbers. Use to play the Ablett role before Ablett became this god gifted footballer.

Dont pick Ablett. You cant have every premium and hes one that you can leave alone for now.

My point was you could get him much cheaper with the tough start he has of course he should avg 100 for the year n be the best back. but you could also have gibbs , del , etc who could avg 85+ and do the same job and save you close to 100k and spend it else where by the round where his cheap you could cash in on one of your cash cows and make him a nice upgrade

Nah. Trust me, it's worth having stars from the top teams. You'll kick yourself when Goddard scores 146 against the tigers (you think that's a little high? He averaged 139 against the tigers last year, and little has changed). Even though I have Swan in my team, I'm so close to putting Goddard as my captain for the matches against Richmond and Brisbane, both teams who leak points. Even Essendon seems a very good option.

I think the last 11 h&a games idea makes sense. It also makes sense for saints and pies players to be judged on their last 15 games including finals (heck, if you can rack it up against the pies and cats you can rack it up against the tigers) and in Goddard's last 15 games (remembering he missed the lions), he averaged 115.53 which is about a 2 point bump from his overall 10 average, I'm guessing it would've been in the top five averages in the last 10-12 weeks of the season and is verging into bona fide captaincy material. In fact, you might shift captaincy off Swan onto Goddard if Goddard is playing a weak team at the dome (which the saints will do roughly 8 times during the year). OR possibly make the bold move and pick Goddard and not Swan (although I still see Swan clubbing weak teams for 140+ this year, so he's still picked for mine). He's super consistent, doesn't miss many games now (he's missed four h&a games in the last three years) and only had four games under 100 last year. Compare that to 3 for Swan and 4 for Boyd and he compares favorably (or, at least is similar). I expect Goddard to average 115+ this season. Could be wrong. Don't think so though.

Now for my question, I've got Adcock but from Adcock I can upgrade him to anyone in the comp (yes I have the money) who should it be? Should I keep him? Are there cheaper options I'm ignoring? Should you have two premiums from the same team in one position? Because I'm thinking about Russell.

My current backline is Goddard-Gibbs-Deledio-Duffman-Adcock-Otten-Heppell (Toy, Duigan, Puopolo).

Grimes. I'm also leaning toward Coad over Toy for JS.

Grimes v Broughton?

Am a little shy of Enright, really hit the wall towards the end of last season, haven't heard an argument yet to sugggest that won't be repeated this year.

Enright is older now, Geelong won't be able to dictate as much as they have at the back and if Enright gets tagged, his 92 average of last year will fall. Still see him averaging 82-85 though.

I don't think it's as bad as your making it out to be, he still had his best DT average last year. I know he had 3 poor games, but he backed it up with 3 tons. He's been tagged off and on for the past 2 or 3 years, so it's really nothing new.

rdangelo, if you look at it the other way Enright in 2006 had his 2nd best season when Geelong was ordinary. In 2007 he had his worst year of those 4 when Geelong was smashing everyone. In 2010 he had his best year even though they are declining. What does that tell you?

Regarding Grimes and Broughton, neither of them have played over 15 games so there's a big risk at that price tag. If I was to go with one of them it would be Broughton as he has more of a mature body and I've heard he's had a great preseason without any setbacks. Grimes has had a few niggles I believe and has had back problems in the past which is not a good thing.
