Yeh, I like Gram. Can imagine opposition coaches working out the way to get the ball in his hands with those helicopters he kicks

One to avoid for SC.

Anyone have an opinion on Grundy in the backs and Gilbert in the forward line for the DP factor? Both could potentially place in the top ten for their respective positions. I can't see any other FWD-BAC link that I really like. Any suggestions?

Not a fan of Hurley?

Hurley's still a bit of a yoyo for DT, but once he gets consistent he'll be very attractive. This could be the year but I reckon it'll take one more.

As an Essendon supporter I love the way he plays. Bloody amazing when he's tearing it up at CHF and equally good at CHB - killed Reiwoldt a couple of times. Unfortunately, the latter rarely translates to high DT scores.

Seems like very slim pickings in the backline in the lower prices. Nowhere near the value there was last year around the 200k mark.

Taylor Hunt from Geelong. Is ripping it up and will have a super year. Will start back and run throught the middle. Scotty loves him.

I think that was more caused by a constant role change. Maybe a new coach with a clue might stick him in a position and let him play that position (and coincidentally may score more consistently) :)

Otten and Adcock the 2011 midpriced 'poster boys', alot of coaches will be locking them in. The risk is the injuries that could follow, which is why good cover in Coad, Toy etc is essential.

I like R.Murphy as a DP for forward and back. Although alot seem scared of his overrated durability issues.

Been thinking on a slightly different strategy for my backs.

Currently have Goddard, Delidio, Gibbs, Broughton and Otten locked and will decide on the rookies come NAB cup.

As I should have 4 keepers in the backs and then trade for 2/3 more I have been thinking about starting with a midpricer who might not go up alot in price but has shown to be durable and garaunteed starting 22.
Even if this player only averages 70 but plays every game they will proove to be a great 6th/7th back for the first half of the year but also certain backup for the last half of the year.

The difference with a rookie is that they are pretty much locked to start every game and score consistantly for you.

Players under consideration currently are Wright, McVeigh, Harry O, Sheppard, Maxwell and Garland.

Thoughts??

You'd be looking at someone durable if you do take that route mate, it can work as a standby/cover later in the year when upgrades progress option. With the new fixturing it is certainly handy to have this type of player who you can pick up at a good price. Someone like Wright could be a decent pick.

Then again, the reason that guys like Adcock, Otten and such were under consideration is they are MP options would could prove to be keepers. With plenty of rookie options avaliable it might not be neccesary.

Bruce has been brought up now and then, there's those who see him as a potential bargain. Sure, he's proven and experienced, could very well play a role in that Hawthorn side as a HBFer or a tagging mid.
Then again, there's the risk that comes with picking an old player at a new club. Can he hack it if he does change roles?

Hun reporting X Clarke might be back by round 5 from his Lars :thumbsu:....sounds pretty optimistic, but might be a midyear/late downgrade target though....

Even if he did return to fitness by round 5 he'd still need to prove his fitness in the reserves, then get some form and then continue to avoid injury which he just can't seem to.

If everything did go right for him and he was cheap enough he could possibly end up as your 8th defender but I just can't see it all falling into place for him.

Highly priced
Undurable
No Value or upside
plays both byes when 3 teams miss in that same week

NO THANKS

Malceski won't be playing too much time in the defence this year. Well at least the Swans fans hope so but the indications are there from the coaches.

Grundy is interesting, could improve again on his 2010 efforts. Could grow into his role as a defender. I'm not a fan of Gilbert, isn't going to score as well as a forward, is my early guess anyway.
