Re: 2011 Backs Thread

Round 4 hurting what I want to do with my backs. Hargrave getting injured opens the way for the Bulldogs youngsters but there are a few Saints (ie Godds) and Lions who are also tempting :(

Completely agree! Though with Heppel in the Mids, you can save yourself from Goddard. (Provided you don't have Boyd, Montagna and a lion in your mids as well. :)

Re: 2011 Backs Thread

putting heppell in the mids means you get one less genuine mid rookie though. The cost of dual position is you have to play one or two out of position to swap them around.

Yeah round 4 in the backs was a problem for me too. Hargrave looked value, how bad is his injury?

Re: 2011 Backs Thread

Deledio, Gibbs, Enright, Scotland and Rawlings all have extremely good durability in the same price range. The reliability of these guys playing week in week out is very much worth the slight point loss you may get for picking one of them above Kelly.

Duffield = durable

Re: 2011 Backs Thread

Haven't seen Scott Selwood (West Coast) in too many squads named in the backline.

Am I missing something? Is he likely to only be named as a midfielder?

At $300k and with a nice finish to 2010 season would have thought he'd make an idea mid-pricer in defence.

What did he injure?

True. Plenty of durable backs to choose from so I don't see the value in picking up someone with a history of injury.

Apparently he's a chance of being just a midfielder, but I'm praying to the DT gods at VS that he's got back eligibility as well!

Re: 2011 Backs Thread

Can someone explain to me why Deledio is so highly rated on these boards?
He doesn't score highly in his backline role, Hardwick has tipped him to keep playing that role and his scores aren't really in the top 7 backs anyway. Durability is the only positive I see at the moment...

Durability is a big plus, and even based on a 90 average, he will be the 5th highest scoring back. (hodge and kelly no longer a back).

Gilbert looked to score less playing forward, and has been indicated as going forward, so that would move him to the 4th highest back. All it takes is a couple of injuries to some midfielders and lids can get runs through the middle and tear it up.

Take Hodge, Kelly and Goodwin out of your backs and he sure does come close.

Re: 2011 Backs Thread

I'll be looking elsewhere in the Richmond backline to be honest.
