You may be right in avoiding him but what you've written there is all rubbish.

He is 29, not on the decline yet.

Average over 100? We're talking backs here. Also, I wouldn't totally dismiss North as a 'non top 8 team'. Young side that will only improve (finished 9th on % last season missing some key players).

Career high average of his role change under a new coach last season. Will stay in this role this season.

What I will say though is that he hasn't had a great preseason and at his price, there are much safer options.

That's what was said about Essendon going into 2010 after finishing 8th in 2009. Who knows. I think the Roos remain in the 9th-12th bracket personally.

I know he's burnt many over the years... but with Davis going into the backline, Heath Shaw may not get the tag.

In saying that however he might get less of the ball with Davis down there.

All I said was that there's a chance that if Davis continues his form that he could demand the defensive forward tag running off half back. It may not be something that occurs in the early stages of the season but could potentially be a goer mid to late in the season. This all depends on the performance and impact of the two discussed and could open doors for an increase in Shaw's scoring. But again as I also said, Davis going down back may detract from the amount of ball that Shaw gets and thus make this a moot point. It is however, food for thought.

Great player, but terrible at DT. His highest ever year-end score in DT is 67.

Harry Taylor?? Hes the one you want as a unique midprice back. I had him penciled down about round 17 last year. Maybe too expensive for you.

I feel like my defence is just a bit weak compared to the rest of my team. It just feels like it lacks depth (which is even more important now with the bye).

you've probably overspent in other positions if your #4 back is Suban.

Wood is probably going to have a really good year, but I'm not sure I'd bother starting with Otten and Wood. might as well downgrade Otten to a rookie and use the cash elsewhere.

I'm not sure about Otten exactly, but Wood's JS is great. Even when/if Hargrave returns he will be fine.
