Just what i was thinking, can literally play anywhere. Should start sub, but who will be subbed off?? the sub is going to hurt people more than they think.

Its already caused so much damage, AND THERE HAS ONLY BEEN ONE GAME! :(

Anyone who doesn't have Swan and Swan as captain needs to get moving. My prediction he'd average 125+ this season looks the goods. :thumbsu:

I picked Pendles over him and aren't regretting it at all yet. Pendles was tagged and had an average game for 128, Swan was left to do as he pleased, scored 3 goals, was BOG for 137.

1 game so far, lets have a few games before we make any conclusions.

I picked both. Before you laugh, think about this: my opponent has Pendles, Swan and Krak so he's in the same position as me. This year it's all about points, and having a low week of Pendles and Swan out is mitigated by having them both rack up great scores, which will hurt me in round 7 but will assist me in the other 22 weeks. I factor in making trades for premiums by round 13 anyway. 137 and 121 don't seem to me outliers, in reality Swan did what he liked, had a poor second half and Pendles was tagged, so I see good sustainability. All in all, I don't think it's too bad to have both Pendles and Swan in your midfield. They'll win you more games than they'll lose you (most likely one at most) and as I said, the drop in score that week is mitigated by high scores. What I mean is that my score will suffer in rounds 7 and 13 but be greatly helped in other 22 weeks. I see Pendles and Swan making up the top five mids as well.

The only other guy I considered is Murphy, but he's out finals, and Bartel, but I have Duffman, Bartel and SJ and of course I'm going for the overall win. Boak I feared would suffer in a bad team and he showed this today. I feel I've talked myself into this but I'm hoping by round 7 I will have built some collateral for trades. Oh and I don't have anyone not performing (yet). Lowest score besides Duigan is 74.

Most of the players who have done badly this week shouldn't have been picked anyway. Selwood? Astbury? Foley? Yarran? Pfft.

2nd that motion

Foley is a tough one, really depended on structure. To say he shouldnt have been selected is an over statement.

There was debate on here ALL preseason re Selwood vs. Bartel vs. Corey (it was very anti Selwood for DT). However this has nothing to do with him getting injured and is purely situational.

There was also debate re: Foley (it was probably neutral). Again this has nothing to do with his ilness and was purely structural debate.

There was also debate re: Yarran (it questioned his role, however likely remained quite neutral as I don't think too many people needed him, but were looking when Knights was getting hurt left, right and center during the preseason).

Astbury? Why would anyone pick him? At least the others were valid selections from some points of view (not mine).

Not picking Swan puts money to get another player that will probably make up for the points anyway.
I don't agree. IMO a captaincy lock like Swan is a must have.

I started without him and Ablett last year and it cost me dearly.

A lot of people tend to make that mistake once. Then they realise having a player they can put captain and rely on to get 125+ every week is too valuable an asset to ignore.

Swan avg 133 over his last 16 or 17 IIRC including finals. So that is not far off a full home and away season. Not saying this will happen, just shows potential upside.

Rory Sloane is absolutely dominating against Richmond, getting so much of the ball be it inside or outside. he's really tempting me to go with two mid-pricers in midfield.

Did you end up going Sloane DB10? I almost was tempted but luckily pulled out.

I did and am devastated. Debated all preseason between 2 of foley, sloane and Salopek. Went foley and sloane.
Now what do do with him?
Ride out the bye this week which would have happened anyway. Take another look at rookies and Yarran. Possibly downgrade sloane and upgrade Yarran or vice versa. Allows me to right some wrongs and change structure early.
Depends what happens this week, but no hasty trades yet.

A little bit of me wants to ride the 6 weeks out and welcome him back but by then it's upgrade time, not mid priced time.

Interested in what others are thinking of doing with Rory.

I ended up taking Trent Cotchin. :)

I've only got one Crow in my team actually.

Got Sloane as well and I'm devo, he was a unique player I really thought would help my team this year:(

Anyway what to do with him.......We have to ride out this week as you said, he was going to miss anyway and it gives us a chance to assess some rookies.

I'm thinking downgrade atm, to a Foley or Swallow type. If I go to Swallow it will give me 110 in the kitty and midfield of Swan, Montagna, Murphy, Ward, Krak and Harris/Swallow.

By freeing up some cash it allows us to ride a rookie for a few weeks and then jump on a player like Chappy after round 7?

That's my plan anyway.
