Anyone else already got a completed side on Fan Footy Planner??

Round 1 Rookie Job Security still to be evaluated, but im fairly happy at this stage

Yep. Obviously lots of water to go under the bridge, but it's looking good so far IMO.

Only downside I see with 46 trades is most teams will be almost identical come DT finals.

IMO This takesd all of the strategy out of the game. And as previouslyt stated, teams will end up almost identical come end of year. :(

46 ruins it for mine... Cant believe Im considering not playing...

how two trades a week makes 46 I'll never know...

23 rounds but only 22 of them are tradeable
ie first round is team selection - so only 44 trades max...

only 2 per round in the byes needs consideration

either way its too many and gives those with an awful starting side a massive chance to catch up... all that homework doesnt seem as necessary

an element of luck has been reintroduced possibly but now if you really want to
premo rotation becomes an option... hunting for those players with a purple patch of fixtures in the next month
will become somewhat important as a way of getting ahead of the curve.

As soon as I read the email announcing 2 trades per week my immediate thought was that this forum would erupt with cries of "it's too easy, it's ruined, I'm not playing etc". Well it's easy to criticize but let's look at some of the positives. This now creates some interest in trading in the back third of the season when most of our trading is locked down while we wait for someone to do a 6 week hammy, get caught up in a betting scandal or go DUI. This forum also dies in the ar$e over that period because, like it or not, the MAIN fun part of DT is trading. Now instead of switching off over certain periods (ie conserving early in the season to maintain enough trades and fatten cows/grab fallen guns, conserving late in the season to cover injuries) you will have to be engaged EVERY week to see which movers need to be added or dumped. It will also stop people creating extra teams just so they can have the power of trading again. But finally, and most importantly, it opens the door to new strategies to be implemented. Will vanilla GnR's still be option #1 or will some astute coach devise a means of wringing every last point from their team under the new trading rules? I know it has certainly made me re-think my starting team.

Finally I'm pretty sure come the end of the year when we're celebrating the 2013 winner and analysing their strategy we will all be thinking, "why didn't I think of doing that"? Nuffs will play and succeed moderately every year, but only the dedicated coach who does the hard yards and takes advantage of this new rule will come out on top. And doesn't that sound the same as every other year? Just enjoy opening your team each week and thinking, "how can I make it better" instead of "no trades for me this week, zzzzzz........".

the general obvious "on the bubble" rookie trades will be there each week making initial team selection and captain choice very important i reckon.

Will be what defines the best teams from the rest. Sideways trading premo's on the basis of their upcoming 3-4 opponents. Say you have Buddy and he has been scoring well but his next 3-4 opponents he historically struggles to score against, whilst say Goodes is playing teams that he absolutely dominates against in the same time frame. It might prove to be a strategy worth taking to trade out a super premo based on upcoming block of opponents then trade them back in when they're expecting a better run.

Also guns who are playing, but hampered by a slight injury that is effecting their output, trade them out until they are 100% fit again.

I can't see the casual DTmer putting in the time to do that much inseason research.

This is true! We'll all be left with 2 trades we can't possibly use at the end of the year :p

Nah it must be a typo and actually 44 trades.

Well * me there goes my super conservative strategy....

So we find out which rookies are playing round 1 and select team accordingly?

We also get to trade Broughton in and out of our teams 5 times during the year!

On the contrary, too easy for everyone.

On the contrary, it's too hard for obsessive types (like most of the top teams from years gone by) who spent hours on end researching and planning instead of socialising, getting laid, having kids etc. Now they will have to rely on getting their teams and trades right (at the right time)which will take more skill than ever before.

Nerds living in their parents basement were ruining Dream Team for everyone, now it will be fun for footy lovers who have a life outside of the internet.

If you don't like it, GTFO to nerd paradise AKA SC and leave those capable of adapting to change to fight it out for the FR. :thumbsu:
