Brad Shepperd?

I have $330k to spend on a defender and don't like anyone in that range until I get to him priced $290k and MPP for mid.

Looked a handy player last year, any concerns? Good pre-season?

Of that price range i really like rhys shaw. When he's got a spot on the half back line he shines, when he doesn't his scores are much lower. In 08 malceski's knee was gone and he prospered. In '09 kennealy was in ireland and he once again prospered. In 2010 he did well when on the half back line but when moved was nowhere near as successful and finished the season with an average of 69 instead of 80+. With malceski going to be out for at least the first half of the season i think he could be a really good buy. Could also go from being a mid pricer to a keeper as your 7th defender if he can get that average up to 08-09 levels.

Shaw is $341k.

I might just drop back to Andy Otten and spend the extra elsewhere. I'm just wary of blokes coming off a knee and also want to differentiate a bit, as everyone will have Otten.

No, rhys shaw 288k. Not heath shaw. Unless in supercoach and then im not sure. Also while i think sheppard will end up a good player he hasnt had a great preseason.

Hurley at 337k is your best bet.

Unfortunately to many players either coming back from injury or still injured in that price range (Phil Davis, Carlisle, Surjan etc.).

Have you considered Reid or Mitch Brown (if he is fit this weekend)?

Went with Easton Wood.

I'm a shocking $6k short of my ideal team and its driving me nuts. I have Darling but want to change him to Petrie, think I will just leave the $100k in the bank and wait until sides are named and make some final changes

so how many eagles players did everyone end up putting in there team. i got cox, darling, priddis and gambled on shuey playing 22 games.

B: Goddard, Gibbs, Gilbert, Deledio, Otten, Heppel; Toy, Duigan, Lower
M: Montagna, Cross, Hodge, Swallow (D), Polec; Conca, Atley, Hibberd
R: Sandilands, Cox; Smith, McCauley
F: Franklin, Didak, Goodes, Riewoldt, Pavlich, Krakouer, Prestia; Richardson, Matera, Darling

240k in the bank

Any thoughts? I have had almost no time to get it together this year unfortunately. Stupid work deadlines!

I want to get Shuey in, but don't know who to drop for him. Any ideas?

Cheers

Hey guys I'm just wondering what kind of role Darling is expected to play, will he play through the midfield at times? When he plays forward is he more of a high half forward or a deep stay at home player? I also remember reading somewhere about him being a defensive forward, although I'm not sure if it was used in the context of him being used as a forward tagger or just a forward with good tacking pressure. Sorry for the 21 questions I don't hear much about WCE players down here in Melbourne. Feel free to inbox me if you have any Hawthorn questions.

Hey guys, last minute question on Scott Selwood.

Early in the pre season he was apparently tracking brilliantly (Was elected part of the leadership group from memory) and was set to play a more offensive role this year with less tagging jobs.

Is this still the case? Also has he had any injuries since February?

He came out of the blocks in that first mini NAB match and was very impressive, since then I haven't heard too much.

Any help is much appreciated.

How many games do you guys expect Darling to play this season?
If he plays like he did in the pre-season and remains unijured he will play all 22.

Gets a lot of tackles, really adds that defensive element to our forward line, is quite agile, can take a decent grab, gets an ok amount of the ball for a yound forward and gets a few shots on goal. If he can start kicking 2.2 or 2.1 instead of 1.4:( in some of his games then will probably be one of the better rookies this year.

Just in case you havn't seen him, he plays more of a high HF role with the odd stint in the middle as opposed to a permanent KPF. Still played deep in patches in the pre-season but i don't know if that will be the direction he is headed in.

Howdy,

Have Easton Wood in the team, given his injury I an lookiggn to trade him out this week.
Is Mark Nickoski likely to have some longer term job security, and was his round 1 form indicative of the pre-season he's had or is it likely to be a one-off? Cheers.

His round 1 game would go very close to being his best game since the 05 season. The thing is he has the talent and ability to play at this level consistantly or even slightly better. Just hasn't realised it due to a multitude of factors.

Cheers Phil - have cash to trade for a more expensive player but considering rolling the dice

 Had an alright game and looks a player but maybe not a SC superstar..... At least I was on the right track with Darling (well so far at least:D).

Can't really tell you. He has no consistent form line to go off and could be out of the side post haste if he dosn't perform. That in itself should tell you he is probably way way to speculative a pick up at this stage.
All Eagles supporters who did not have Cox in there team should quit there respective leagues immediately.
Had Cox. My only mistake was ignoring my gut and not changing him from Vice Captain to Captain.

LOL had Swan as Capt, and Cox as Vice last week :D
Still only 2280 for the week:thumbsdown::mad:
I really wish I hadn't rush-job'd my DT this year, I did it in about 10 minutes not accounting for the bye.

I filled up on GC players, though they may well be easy upgrades given they're all bargain basement priced.
If they play youll be laughing.:thumbsu:

not really a question, but...

I had Shuey, Priddis, Cox and Darling in my team today: 107 + 146 + 129 + 70 = 452 points from the Eagles :D

On behalf of the West Coast Eagles, you're welcome.
